(salam)

It's not funny at all. It really hurts my feelings. :(

I mean, just a few day's ago, I posted a fake pic of my beard in the BEARD THREAD. He was the only one that complained it was fake, when everyone knew it was obviously a google pic. He brought up old memories of my earlier deception when I lied about my age several times, and when I claimed I was a 40 year old virgin. Well, that was the past, and I had my penalities and torture. I mean, why can't we just be cool. Why does he have to attempt so hard at degrading my ahklaq.

Well, speaking of ahklaq. I might still have that pic of him in make up and mascara. However, I never remind him or even insist on hurting his feelings in anyway. Why? Because I care. Because I'm not mean, I have a feelings, and my feelings don't want me to hurt another persons feelings, even though he has saddened me numerous times.

I mean, him and Zuljenah used to have numerous occasions when they argued and insulted me in the chat. However, her partner banned me from the chat, and it was a good decision, since I thought it would end all wars with them. However, Mr Hussain Rizvi, has nothing better to do, but pray for war.

I don't want to fight with you again or anything :Hijabi: but that's just wrong. You always exaggerate.

EDIT- HR is the coolest, nicest person on SC.

EDIT AGAIN- Oh wait, I am the coolest person on SC. So okay, HR is the second coolest person on SC

HR- When are you gonna change your siggy bro?

I hope your right. I understand in real life he is a very kind hearted and sensitive person. But why doesn't he show at least a portion of it on ShiaChat.

I don't think he is a loser. But, I pray he doesn't turn into one.

any particular reasons for this?

I have less time than I used to; I got bored of discussing the same things over and over again; I didn't like the one dimensional approach dominating shiachat as Rawshini says; in addition plenty of the older members who I knew have left as well.

Salaam Aleikum.

Between school, social, and family life, and all the issues and stress therein, I've been left without moments to coherently breathe, much less enjoy ShiaChat the way I could during the Summer. My drift away from SC was pretty much a gradual, unplanned, and uncontrollable one. I finally found the time to post again yesterday after about a month and I'm a bit saddened by the unfamiliarity of things as well. I miss seeing all the great topics that used to incite deep thought & heartfelt discussion. I miss the glorious surge of happiness so often experienced when I learned something new from my fellow SCers.

ShiaChat has been a great escape at times from the superficiality of the 'real' world.

But unfortunately, it's that superficial world that we actually have to live in, and the superficiality and fickleness of that world sometimes trickles into this haven of ours, thereby decreasing its sense of welcome.

I don't know if it's always been this way or if I'm being overtly pessimistic, but it seems like there are too many junk postings nowadays.

I think we will never run out of valuable issues we COULD discuss; we merely seem to be running out of valuable people willing to discuss them.

But on the bright side, with Ramadhan right around the corner insh'Allah we'll see a rejuvenated spirit on this great site as people collectively focus on the ultimately important matters of faith and knowledge-seeking.

All the more reason that you should stick around and add diversity to the content here

lol

My approach is not one dimensional at all. The approach he is referring isn't mine, it is one pointed out by me. IF you can fathom the difference

This is such a verboten topic, since it might require self examination and as most high reliability organizations often do, they grade themselves quarterly and annually,  they welcome feedback on improvement , and are self critical. If the do lose members,  or engagement drops then self examination is done. If there are people power tripping, driving down engagement,  banning members left and right and following up with self serving justifications,  then that is examined. Additionally banned members should be polled on what they think the issue was, can't be a one sided process....followed by "Well we talked about it and we all agreed"

I don't think this will ever be formalized,  but at least there exists such a platform manned by volunteers, so we should thank Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) and the founders and volunteers for their time, and compared to equivalent sunni or other Muslim boards this is head and shoulders above the others.

Oh well , we are thankful for what we have and should be.

And many many more, some of us  have been here in some capacity since early 2000s when there were lively debates,  and arguments, and ( pearl clutching) bad words used... look thr discussions were much better,  it was all members discussions with rare moderator comments.

Now that equation is completely 180 degrees different.  Majority Comments and posts are mostly moderators with a few exceptions. That is OK if opposing viewpoints are allowed,  but if a moderator has their own strongly help viewpoints the discussions are quickly strangled to fit thay viewpoint.

Its true though that certain viewpoints are not tolerated very well on Shiachat.

Definitely was true in 2006 but conversations were more lively, animated and at times caustic but educational and entertaining for participants and spectators alike.

Now unfortunately this is even more obvious. I have seen some of the most educated and knowledgeable members get suspended or banned....that's sad.

All valid point then and 18 yrs ago,  now still true.

But we must adapt to change I guess.

Not necessarily, the discussions are quickly strangled when the subject is considered "controversial" even to the mods here.

But subjects like palestine Israel which we mostly agree Israel and america are in the wrong. You had many trolls who would come here like kadhim and spew some of the most toxic venom and outrageous arguments, only to get banned 8 months later. This was the case with many. But the conversations were never shut down.

A lot of people are too busy to come to ShiaChat and we don't blame them. They come back once in a while and we are glad to see them. As for the banned members, they had a lot of bad behavior. Mods usually put someone on mod review and only approve posts that are not mean, violent, profane or against facts. When they see that they can't just write a lot of nonsense then they leave. Mods have let people say they are sorry and won't do it again. But guess what? People are usually going to keep doing what they have always done. If you haven't seen the Banned Members topic, maybe look at it and tell yourself that people who do those kind of things don't need to be at ShiaChat.

I left 18 years ago and now I find myself back on these forums.

Dies everyone remember the great spamming days of Ali Imran, Wise Muslim? The admin Ali?

Are these people still around?

Everyone is married with kids, some even teenagers now, but incredible how much of an influence this forum has had on us just looking back at my posts.

Didn't know this site was a chatroom lol interesting...

It had a chatroom feature which made it very interactive and fun. I don't know why they got rid of it but it was the best way for me to learn about Shia beliefs when I first joined. This place was so lively, and now it feels abandoned and lonely.
