Horoscopes

I'm just curious to see what people think of horoscopes. Many people that I know actually believe in them because they say that everything that they read about their horoscopes comes true. I was also wondering if there's an actual hadith/Quranic verse that relates to such things...

That's the thing about horoscopes alhuda. They are meant to fit every description which is evident in your eyes. (e.g., you feel closer to your family :dry: ) Well, most people at most times are closer to their family.

Dear brother you say that it is a major sin to believe in horoscopes. i want to see evidence like hadith, quran? onother thing is if a person reads their horoscope and it comes true how can you tell them not to believe in it when they have seen it work?

lol, I don't believe in them because horoscopes are created that way so that it fits almost everyones decision. Plus now I have also noticed that when people do read horoscopes, it influences their actions to work towards what ever the horoscope says.... sometimes for the good, and sometimes for the worse

Horoscope don't really perdict the future most of there advice is more common sense than forseeing the future for example they will say someone might come to you with a problem don't shove them off listen to them and provide a caring heart.

It's true. Believing in fortune tellers and horoscopes is a major sin. Historically Muhammed, peace and blessings upon him, hated those that tried to predict the future and used the powers of Jinn for such purposes.

Islamically, i read a hadith saying believing in such things means your prayers will not be accepted for ages (i think it was 70 days).

Anyway, Qur'an verses translated by khalifa:

19:77

Have you noted the one who rejected our revelations then said, "I will be given wealth and children"?!

19:78

Has he seen the future? Has he taken such a pledge from the Most Gracious?

19:79

Indeed, we will record what he utters, then commit him to ever-increasing retribution.

Here as you can see, the person is unaware of his future. He cannot claim anything because it might not happen. This is also a reason why Muslims say Inshallah/God-Willing after a sentence in the future tense. This is because the future belongs to God, even though we control our actions.

27:65

Say, "No one in the heavens and the earth knows the future except GOD. They do not even perceive how or when they will be resurrected."

72:27

Only to a messenger that He chooses, does He reveal from the past and the future, specific news.

Only to a messenger. So angels, messengers and so on, they know bits. This does not mention normal men, who predict your future and write it down and name it a horoscope.

52:41

Do they know the future, and have it recorded?

Noone has the future recorded except Allah.

As you can see, noone can know the future except those specially chosen. Noone has it recorded except the Almighty Allah. Thus horoscopes have no power, or knowledge and it is wrong to make them. It is wrong because the verses above speak of trying to know the future wrongly. e.g. 'Has he taken such a pledge from the Most Gracious?'

There are also hadiths, but i do not know much about hadiths, so i will not quote any. Besides, i do not have a search engine for them.

It is imaginary belt but the Holy Quran says:

"He (Allah) it is who has made the

sun a splendour and the moon a light,

and measured for her (moon) stages

that you might know the number of

the years and the reckoning (of time)''
