As'Salam alaykoum

Missionaries like the christians doesnt exist to my humble point of view in Islam. Christians did not like muslims da'wa or tabligh, they only did it offering economic favors to the people who would convert to chrisitianity.

Da'wa in Islam is done with akhlaq and hikma but if you mean with missionaries only persons who speak about the religion, yeah they exist but only to call persons to the path of Allah, like the tabligh jamaat who is doing da'wa but without any type of violence like we can see in history the christians like when discovering America ,the first thing they did is destroying the culture there and building a church without thinking first to help the folk there.

da'wah in islam , is different then missionaries in christianity ... people performing da'wah are asked for ... or make a date and offer invitations to the public , not go to the people and start talking ....

Yeh they sort of do, but Missionary isn't the word I would use, I associate that word with Colonialism and Bribery as well as forced conversion. Najdis (Wahabis) have missionaries everywhere in that they offer money, free "scholar"ships and free umrahs etc. However we have those who are there to inform non-Muslims of Islam in many countries yes.

I was wondering does anyone know is Islam has any missionaries? i mean the Christians always seem to have missionaries.

And if so where do they go?

And do you get Sunni missionaries trying to convert Shia and vice verse?

Walykom As Salam,

in gulf countries, they are people who do "khorooj" they leave their countries to call for Allah, sometimes they are offered diplomatic service. They teach people Islam and educate them more about our belief.

They are not all from the Arab gulf, Khorooj is also offered for non arabs by Arab countries.

As previously stated, the "missionaries" and the colonisers worked together like fingers on the same bloody hand. The type of missionary most frequently associated with Christian missionaries has nothing to do with Islam.

"There is no compulsion in relgion" and "truth has been created distinct from falsehood", therefore, it is not neccessary to "catch" people (like Evangelical Christians do), but only to make information avilable to people and discuss Islam with those WHO CHOOSE TO SEEK IT.

So we don't need to "knock on doors" because Allah (swa) "knocks" on the heart of the person who is fortunate enough to be guided to Islam. We should just be on the side of the road "directing traffic".

Have you ever heard of Tableegh Jamaat?? It's a missionary group operating out of the subcontinent. They are everywhere and have members in every muslim country. However it is aimed primarily at re-proselytizing to Muslims. Their attitude is that the Muslims we have now are far from the message and Islam and the need for more practicing muslims.
