Whats the best Euro Country for Muslims to live?

salamz sis r u moving to europe?!

well i was born and bred up in holland...eventhough our shia community isnt well organised and our community is pretty small here i still like it. Its acountry with many opportunities and benefits.

9/11 messed up the situation not only europe but basically everywhere so it doesnt really differ much with the us or in any other european country.

The language for non dutch speaking might be a problem and the whole new immigration process for new comers..but they have a good programme that seems to be workng well.

i have been to france , uk , belgium and other european countries and i noticed that the social classes and differences b/ween rich and poor are a lot bigger in the uk , france , belgium and italy!!!!!

I have seen slums in the uk that i have never seen in holland before...compared to our ghettos it looks like we dont have them at all and even then they look 10 times better almost like the normal average house that u can find in some parts of london.

religion wise holland is a pseudo tolerant country...with pim fortuyn who got assasinated btw the right wing got more supporters butit seemed to be coooled down when he was gone...but stirred up again by populists like theo van gogh who got assasinated by a wahabi /takfiri which led to huge debates and a somalian politician ayan hirschi ali who insulted the prophet. anyway she is gone now too lol..

but unlike in germany and france muslims r free to choose if they want to wear hijab or not and every 1 are allowed to practice their religion openly.....

and we have legal hashish u can buy them like on every corner lol ! jkz :)

i would say holland is the best euopean country , social wise , historical , economically: things r cheap compared to other european countries ( i e living studying etc ) , has loads of study opportunities and goood universities and have excellent opportunities and services for int studies , religion (ie hijab is no problem and temples can be build )

its a small country with a bright future lol

(sheesh i feel like i am advertising holland)

btw italy apart from their scenery and history sucks the most !!!!!!!

down down with berlusconi... :Hijabi:

Salaamu Alaikum

I just thought i'd mention that there are no cities mentioned in your poll.

LOL I was just going to say the same thing!!!

Katayon, You've listed countries, not cities!!!

^ oh goodness u all r so picky :P

They aren't picky, they're right, countries don't matter, its the cities that count.

Try REYKJAVIK, Iceland

UK, London if you're looking for a strong muslim community, whether you are sunni or a shia muslim. No difference down there! :D

N.G>H

Not entirely accurate. Where I live there is a deep divide between the Sunni and Shia communities. People at the local Sunni Mosque do not take kindly to Shia praying there.

I agree completely... People here are quite distrubed to put it nicely... and that's for both shias and non shias :D

Avoid settling in london it plants and establishes a disease in your heart that is difficult to overcome... and if ure not careful u'll be consumed by it and end up saying things like "bare buff man innit"

but seriously u feel the strength of the shaytan in this city.. it is most deffinately HIS home

My suggestion.. live somewhere near to london so u can come just for the majalis-avoid wales at all costs (except for holidays :D).

Fe aman Allah

yeah i had a pretty good experience in france with hejab as well....

its well known that the french are snobby, and so they dont care about muslims with hejab or nothing cause theyre too busy thinking about themselves.... and so everyone just kinda minds their own business. plus they are used to head scarves in their society.

TIM W... and Zainab Al-Kubra I have just had a conversation about this today with two different ladies. Neither of them muslim and neither of them of British descent. One of them has visited London on a vacation. The other has lived there for 3 years. The one who visited remarked that people were racist. She didn't specify how. And the one who lived there (being a white, blond-haired, blue-eyed woman - another words not your typical visual image of racist stereotypes) said that there is no way on earth that a British guy would have asked her out. To dispel any concerns with her potentially ugly visual appearance, she was in fact quite good looking. Go figure. I mean, like I said, she didn't exactly fit the stereotype of a victim of racism. It's quite scary to imagine what the response might be like to someone with a dark tan colour of skin, brown eyes, and furthermore faith in Islam. The faith being of special interest these days. It's so sad.... :(

Yeah if one is not English, then they should lose all hope of ever being accepted by these people. I was born in this country and I can say that I have only got one proper white English friend (and he happens to be a convert Shia)..it's not because I keep away from these people, it's because they have their own circle that you can't really get inside no matter how hard you try.

You'll see the odd asian person in their group who totally rejects their culture and when asked where they are from will reply "I'm English" until after continuous interrogation, they will say "Oh....I'm English but my parents are from India" They are sell outs......and not because they are socialising with the white English people, but more because they are denying who they are and what they are and will do literally almost anything to be considered as one of them (and even still they're laughed at once they are away from their 'friends')

And you said that the lady who lived here for three years hasn't had any such luck being asked out by a British guy (neither have I yet ) Well then it is because she is not English...and could also depend on the area she lives in.

The stereotypical British man called Nicholas or Mortimer who works for Goldman Sachs would tend to hang out in a posh bar after work and get talking to posh girls called Siobhan or Linda who lives in a flat in Chelsea with her 3 Chihuahuas....they're not really interested in foreigners unless its a no strings attached relationship.....but then you also have some white guys who find the hijjab fascinating and are intrigued by women from the east (perverts). ..blah!!!

Recently my mum went to the doctors surgery and the woman behind the desk without hearing my mum talk, asked her "whats the name? PATEL is it???" then started talking really slowly to her, making sure she could lip read LOL!

And I'm not even using one little incident (that happens all the time everywhere with nearly everyone I know) to prove something because that is just a minor thing compared to what happens with others. About 2 years ago a Hijjabi girl was on the train and a guy punched her an broke her nose, apparently because she looked at him in a wrong way. The reaction from the other people on the train was so so so so typical of how English people are generally.... they keep themselves to themselves and after the guy got up and walked out the train, THEN they asked "are you alright? Would you like a tissue?"

This country is definitely not a country I would recommend to ANY muslim who wishes to come and settle...living here does also have benefits, but I don't think these benefits are the reasons that I've heard Muslims mention when talking about living here.

For real! A woman in hijjab is much more safer in places like Paris than she is in London.

But this is just my personal opinion

I was going to say i haven't had any racist slurs to me but thinking about it, i have come across some racist slurs by ignorant white folk but i think racism happens everyhwere. No matter where you live people hold racist views.

it's because they have their own circle that you can't really get inside no matter how hard you try.

This is common for everyone though. You see asian kids only hanging with asians, black with black (and some white 'i'm hard cos i'm from the same estate' chicks) and especially chinese with chinese - i have never seen chinese/japanese people mix with any other people.

talking really slowly to her, making sure she could lip read LOL!

Yea this happens. I've even had some parents ask some of my pupils if i speak proper english or do i have an accent etc (some popel have no tact!) but actually they end up looking the fool so it's not really a big deal.

About 2 years ago a Hijjabi girl was on the train and a guy punched her an broke her nose, apparently because she looked at him in a wrong way

In no way am i condoning this, or saying it isn't scary, but to put it in context, it was straight after the bombings in london where hatred towards muslims was at a high. I don't think the feeling is the same now and i have not heard of any incidents like that since.

In fact i really think people are changing their misconceptions about Islam and how what the media might classify as Islamic, is not infact Islamic.

I'm not part of the 'London is best place to live campaign' but i do think it is a good enough place to live in. Besides a few racist remarks, i enjoy living here and i personsally would recommend people to move here.

I could prolly waffle on some more but it's taken me ages to write this one piece because the stupid mouse button in the middle of the laptop keyboard is [Edited Out] and i have not yet mastered the coorindation to work it efficiently!

ok yeh im the person who says " Im from here " and then on further interrogation " My parents are born.." It really frickin annoys me when pple ask that question and are like no where u from - as if being born here isnt enuff and its usually pple born elsehwere who ask this question. If u wanna know where my parents lived 25 yrs ago ask me that then

i dont think UK is bad at all - here we have freedom to express ourselves, practise our religion and have a comparatively equalising judicial system. In my old school one of my best friends used to be this white girl called Sussanah and i really get on with some of teh white girls here - sure as far as socialising goes - u can hardly do a lot - but i find living here as a muslim to be without many difficulties at all. And thats the way i have found it.

I guess Ali imran and pple wud call me a sell-out tho so my opinion might not factor in this discussion - but we are not oppressed in the ways others are. And excuuuuuuuse me but a hijab ban in institutions is a pretty major factor in ur life as a muslim - oh yeh its all cool but if i want a job or education well i have to give up my hijab - like wat the freak - how is that better?!!

neways yeh i think the pple who put the muslims down the most are muslims themselves.

neways thats about it

i dunno why but i felt the need to add in case ne1 took the above the wrong way - i dont think the uk is perfect - far from it but wud i choose to continue to stay here under present circumstances - yes i would.

rest is obv innit

london is the best by far:

there are 7 million ppl in London.

1 million of them are Muslim...that's 15%!

The largest Muslim community...Londoners aren't racist, they're just (understandably) angry with terrorists that are trying to spoil this beautiful city.

I am proud to be a Londoner.

And our mayor, Ken Livingstone (my sister's met him) is pro Palestine and anti Israeli ;)

London, obviously. Consists of the greatest Muslim community in Europe.

Having a "greatest Muslim community" in any area or city does not gurantee that the area or city is the great place to live in.

There are millions of other problems with London. I will always avoid living in what I call 'a mess London is". . .

Your statements are partially true, however, wouldn't you as a Muslim feel more comfort if you lived amongst a larger group of Muslims instead of being isloated.

I voted "other" ie. Copenhagen, Denmark..

Its really not as horrible as its been portrayed in the media.. Most people here are pretty decent.. I have my share of blonde and blue-eyed friends here, and no, I dont refer to myself as "danish"..

Ive been to London lots of times, even considered studying there once.. But I have to admit, London never captured my heart.. London and the brits in it are just too gloomy.. cant explain it..

I wouldn't want to live in Europe as a Muslim. It's a nice place to visit but not to live. I've never been there, so this is from what I've heard.

Canada is better. :)

Salam,

For how long do you think that Canada will remain independent of the "United states" of north america? Like E.U. , it will have to join U.S.A. sooner or later, one way or another.
