King Hussein and his father and uncles were hated by all Shias. His uncle in Iraq, who was imposed as a King by the British, was sectarian and anti-Shia and carried the Ottoman tradition of discriminating against Shi'is in the army and in the state. Hussein himself hated the Shi'i Iraqis because they killed his sell-out British imposed relatives and kicked them out of Iraq. He supported the Arab nationalists and helped them make a coup against Karim Abdul Qassim in the 1960s, and later supported the Baathists.

He is probably mostly hated by Shia Iraqis and Iranian Shiis alike, for his famous line at the beginning of the Iraqi/Iranian war, when he said "let history witness that I'm the first to open fire against Iran". Also many people in Iraq and Kuwait are disgusted with King Hussein for his role in the 1990-91 Gulf crisis and after the sanctions, where he supported Saddam and got billiob of dollars worth free oil from Saddam at a time when Iraqis were starving from the imposed sanctions.

He was also a sell out and a murderer. He gave away land to zionists and was responsible for black september massacre, where he attacked palestinian refugee camps etc.

Indeed they did , the Palestinian under Abu Amar (which are the majority) rose up against Hussien but lost and were forced into Lebanon..

King Aboodie, as I call him, is nothing more than a sell-out of his people and his heritage. He is a dictator of a country made up of a population that is of 60% Palestinian origin.

Even though he is a hashemi, and unfortunately a Sayid, he and his ancestors have a history of selling out their people for personal gain. They controled Hejaz (Mecca and Medina) but lost out to the Wahabis. Nonetheless they allied with the British in WWI and came to control over Jordan and Iraq. The rest is history.

Also let us not forget that he "warned the West agains the Shia Crescent" [iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon] and attempted to retract his remarks but not before taking a few words from the Leaders of those countries.

All in all, dictators do not serve the interests of there people and the only reason he [and his Wife] are in power is because the West support them.

Where does veil come in question here.. the queen of jordan belongs to a family that has always discriminated against the shias ..her not wearing a veil is a very diffrent issue.
