It escapes me why the Americans would destroy this major Shrine; if they truly wanted to saver the ‘unity’ between Shias and Sunnis; they could have destroyed the Abu Hanifa Mosque since the Sunnis obviously are more impressionable than Shias; not to mention that they are less organized with no central authority to control them unlike the Shias. So a Sunni motivated attack against the Shias or the government due to destroying the Abu Hanifa Mosque would have brought in the wanted result.

Now that would make sense.

However over the past three years, attacks against our Holy Shrines have been conducted by Neo-Nasibis, be it during Ashura or Al-Arbaeen. Today; there is no reason to think otherwise. This will backfire (as Bro. waiting had indicated).

With respect Br NoorFatima; something you fail to realise; but that our respected Br DjibrillCisse has said clearly is as follows:

-For 11 pages there has been promotion of discord and disunity, slander and hatred, yet nobody managed to bring proof, or even a mere suggestion, that indicates Sunni, or even Wahabbi, involvement in this fiasco.

This is the exact point.

It is well known that the "Shia" are a minority; an oppressed minority in the time of Mr Tikriti. It is well known that the "Shia" have been manipulated (or people are attempting to manipulate) into believing the myth that it is "Nawasib" (as you call them), "Wahhabiyyah" (as others call them), "Sunnis" (as yet others call them) are the ones killings the Shia and causing meyhem in Iraq.

Therefore; in an effort to put the final nail in the coffin so to speak - they go for the juggular; they instigate in a manner; and detonate explosives in a place that is sacred and bless to ALL Muslims - but about which the "Shia" are more emotionally latched.

Et voila; instant sectarian civil war.

At this point Rumsfeld, Rice, Bush, Blair and Co; ramp up the sectarian gibberish, through some obedient and weak minded fools (apologies but I don't have a more polite description for those who push the sectarian agenda).

I've said time and time again; the so-called "Shia" who've been slandering our brethren of the Sunnah on this site and elsewhere - both in the virtual world as well as the real world - need to follow the line of Imam Ali(A), the line of the Prophet(S), the line of al-Hasan(A) and al-Husayn(A), the like of al-Hadi(A) and al-Askari(A), the line of al-Mahdi(AJ), as opposed to constantly "saying they follow that line" - with respect; saying one follows something and actually following it are two very different things.

If there is proof - concrete proof - emperical evidence - that this was a sectarian crime; then present it.

If there is no proof; and none has thus far been presented so the assumption is that said proof doesn't exist, it is invalid, immoral and blatently wrong (to put it mildly) for ANYONE to slander our brethren of the Sunnah in this regard, it is worse yet to call for "jihad" - jihad against who? Jihad against your banana? Against your grapefruit? Talk of jihad in this respect is ludicras and stupid and down right irresponsible. Shame on the people who've even had the audacity to suggest it.

At this time we need to calm down; look around; and see who stands to benefit most from this. An objective - notice I say OBJECTIVE - not SUBJECTIVE - but OBJECTIVE analysis will reveal that only the Amerikkkan Empire will benefit from this; it will distract from the crimes revealed against the British Stormtroopers; from the crimes of the Amerikkkan Empire; from the crimes of their protectorate in Occupied Palestine and more.

Think, see the bigger picture. Think for the sake of Allah think.

In the Name of the Lord

Salam

This is to all those who judge first and then think, without any sort of proof at hand, as brother DJ pointed out. Accusations without proof is not just garbish, its a grave sin in the eyes of Allah.

(Muhammad), tell My servants to say what is best. Satan sows dissension among them; he is the sworn enemy of human beings (17:53).

(Among) the servants of the Beneficent God are those who walk gently on the earth and when addressed by the ignorant ones, their only response is, "Peace be with you." (25:63)

When you received it with your tongues and spoke with your mouths what you had no knowledge of, and you deemed it an easy matter while with Allah it was grievous. (24:15)

And why did you not, when you heard it, say: It does not beseem us that we should talk of it; glory be to Thee! this is a great calumny? (24:16)

Believers, stay away from conjecture; acting upon some conjecture may lead to sin. Do not spy on one another or back-bite. Would any of you like to eat the disgusting dead flesh of your brother? Have fear of God; God accepts repentance and is All-merciful (49:12).

And verily this Ummah of yours is One Ummah and I am your Lord and Cherisher: therefore fear Me (and no other). (23:52)

Brother Shabbir; it is great to have you back, and indeed it is sad that we're conversing with this shroud of tragedy that has hit our Shia community.

I appreciate your posts; it is well thought out and well presented; and from a theoretical perspective, those events and tactics would be plausible. However I am not easily swayed that the Americans would actually be behind this; it is those who have been threatening the Shias who have done this in the past, and continue to do so since we are too eager in shifting the blame to someone else.

I will reflect on your post and see what the next few days will reveal.

First of all; those who lost their power would do anything to get it back. Also; I am not blaming the Iraqi Sunni community, I am blaming foreign elements from Wahabi-land and their Ba’athi sponsors.

Sunnis would never attack a shrine of son of Hazrat Jafar Sadiq (ra)

Second of all, no news agency has said that ONE Sunni mosque has been demolished; it says that several Sunni mosques have been marked by bullets while three Sunni Imams have been killed by unknown gunman; so your version of the news is alien to me.

BAGHDAD - At least 28 Sunni mosques and an office for the Iraqi Islamic Party in Baghdad were attacked by gunmen after the bomb blast in Samarra. Police said one mosque was completely burnt while others were attacked by gunfire and rocket propelled grenades. Three clerics and three bodyguards were killed, and another cleric was kidnapped, according to interior ministry sources. Gunmen used rifles and RPG rounds in the latest mosque attack, in the southern Saidaya district of Baghdad, a witness said.

Hussein al-Falluji, a leading Sunni politician, reported attacks on at least 75 Sunni mosques around the country with most in eastern Baghdad.

BASRA - Storage depots belonging to the main Sunni religious body in Basra, 550 km (340 miles) south of Baghdad, were reported by local police to be on fire after three grenades were thrown from moving cars while residents were at prayers.

DIWANIYA - Clashes erupted in Diwaniya after militiamen loyal to Shi'ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr attacked the houses of Arab Sunnis in Diwaniya. One of Sadr's men was killed, said a member of the Diwaniya provincial council.

BASRA - Gunmen attacked a Sunni mosque with rocket propelled grenades in Basra, local police said. There were no casualties.

BASRA - Local police said shootouts erupted between Sadr's militiamen and members of the Iraqi Islamic Party in Basra.

I am really at a loss of words. I was shocked this morning. I was sad and am still a bit depressed. I don’t really feel rage. I feel hurt. I feel hurt and I feel helpless. This how I feel when I read the world news anyway… but I feel obliged to comment.

Millions of babies are aborted each year (legally or illegally and in Canada paid for by the government), million of children starved to death, sold into sex slavery, forced to labour as child slaves, millions of women raped, people tortured, workers abused, neglected, innocent people dying, genocide amongst a people … for what reason? For material gain? For selfish pleasure? Jealousy? Greed? Ignorance?

My heart is broken, …

but it has always been broken.

Will this wake the Shias up? Or will we continue to live in luxury and denial? Will we continue to think of ourselves first or will we begin to put the needs of others ahead of our own?

I don’t know.

And I hate to say it…. but I doubt it will change anything.

I might find something beneficial to say later on after I think for a little bit and clear my head.

I thank Allah for reminding me that death is near.

Rawshini, I really liked your post. I am adding it to my blog w/ a link… I hope you don’t mind.

And sheikh shabbir… this is Vicky by the way …Vicky from Texas/Missouri. Salaams to you. Long time no see… wish it were a happier occasion.

What are you talking about? The Shrine of Imam Jafar Al-Sadiq himself has been demolished by the so-called puritan Sunnis; the graves of his father (Al-Imam Muhammad Al-Baqir) along with the graves of his grandfather (Al-Imam Ali Al-Sajjad) has also been destroyed in Al-Baqee3 – So why wouldn’t some puritanical and extremist blocks within the Sunnis actually destroy those Holy Graves in which they consider those Shrines ‘Houses of Polytheism’?

P.S.

Thanks for the news update; I'm watching it right now. Those Sunni Mosques shouldn't have been attacked; it is also unacceptable.

3 sunni imams have been killed by the sadr militiamen in iraq over this !!!!!

I want to ask the supporters of Moqtada as Sadr here who were posting in favor of peace between the sunni and the shia, what has their honourable leader Sadr done now? He has attacked sunnis and gone against the ruling of Ayatollah Sistani !

Now you ( Sadr lovers ) will hate Sadr for fighting sunnis!

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

With respect Br/Sis Uninspired; it would be a good idea if you didn't take what the media takes at face value. I have it on authority from the ground in Occupied Iraq; that Sayyed Muqtada as-Sadr(HA) and the Jaysh Imam al-Mahdi(AJ) are fundamentally against fermenting and working towards sectarian strife.

The media uses ploys to create scenarios.

It is very easy for someone to "say" they are "part of the Mahdi Army" - and to us outside Occupied Iraq - we have no reference point and hence the weakminded will assume said report to be true.

Sayyed Muqtada(HA) has constantly been for Islamic Unity; and it is well known that his khutbas in Masjed Kufa were attended extensively by our brethren from the Sunnah.

Insha Allah that helps. You have also been advised by our respected Br RevolutionaryGuard1979.

Salaams sister; good to see you again also. Insha Allah you are doing well. Indeed wish it was a happier occasion; but Allah is the Most Merciful, and in His hands is power over all things. These events are tests for the Ummah; and we must pray to Him that we have the strength, wisdom and steadfastness to become stronger and overcome these obstacles.

I think both sides have good points.

I heard George Tenet (then CIA chief, or if it was somebody else from the CIA) a few years ago saying, "We don't want war with Islam. We want war within Islam."

So the americans might have a hand in this.

On the other hand, "Sheikh" al-Londoni and his compadres should not be so dismissive of a Sunni role in this whole affair. Definately, alot of Sunnis would be capable of doing this - and have done so for the past 1400 years.

Furthermore, the individual who claimed "Sunnis would never attack a shrine of son of Hazrat Jafar Sadiq". The leaders of sunnism (i.e. the Caliphs) conspired against the Prophet, killed his children, descendants and everything else we hold sacred. So not only would they be able to carry it out, they have carried it out countless times (read the history of the shrines, they have been attacked numerous times by Sunnis).

It might be a joint-venture between our beloved Salafi brothers and their American/Zionist cousins.

Good talking to you after a long time also Br Waiting. Shame about the circumstances.

While I appreciate what you are saying; I would say that logic dictates and history reveals that this is something that is more in the interests of the Amerikkkan Empire.

Also; your quote by the illustrious Mr Tennet; clearly says that Amerikkka wants a WAR WITHIN ISLAM - as in it would instigate; and possibly some weak minded Shia or Sunnah would fall into their trap.

However; since there is no evidence suggesting that it was the Sunnah (or Shia) or any MUSLIM for that matter who has committed this attrocity; it would be safer to assume that it is the occupying force.

My reasoning has been explained quite verbosely in my earlier posts, and I feel repeating it is not required.

Mr Tennet wants a war WITHIN Islam; therefore Amerikkka will instigate a war within Islam; very simple; watch and you will their plan being run.

Insha Allah we all understand.

First: See how Imam Ali (a.s.) asked his sons and everyone to react for his killing. He didn't want them to go and revenge even for his enemies and opposers but only that person who committed the crime. We don't have any right to attack innocent sunnis.

http://www.al-islam.org/nahjul/letters/letter47.htm

Second: We have to behave like shias and not only say that we are shias of Ahlulbayt (a.s).

http://www.al-islam.org/flowers/13.htm

Sulayman-ibn-Mahran said that he visited Imam Sadiq [a] while some of the followers (Shi'ah) were attending him [a] and he heard that the Imam [a], addressing them, said: "(Behave) to be as ornaments for us and not to be against us as shame. Tell people of goodness, and protect your tongues and hold it from excessive talk and offensive speech."

With all due respect to the other brothers/sisters, i think one of the most productive posts was made by sister widaad, and i thought that i would highlight a bit more, so that Insha Allah the admins can start organizing something.

The post is below:

The Shia can thank the american occupying force for this. And thank every Shia who supported the war and the invasion of Iraq. This is the insult Imam Al-Hujjah (as) has to face. His father's shrine has been destroyed. Thankyou every Shia who was happy the americans invaded.
This is the result when you don't rise against injustice but instead remain passive when you get oppressed, regardless of whether it is Saddam or the Americans.

30 years of Baathist rule has shown who has oppressed, and who has been opressed.

I believe if they manage to overcome these hurdles, the Iraq of tommorow will be for both Sunnies and Shias.

Besides, why do they ned to get rid of Sunnies? Being the majority, they are now free to practice their religion.

That's what i am talking about, foreign involvement.

How can we deny a tiny possibility of iran organising such acts against the shrines insomuch that they take over ? Why blame the sunnis when there are foreign powers like iranians involved ?

Are you Il Nino and Paradusi  ...why on earth would Iran and Islamic shia country want to destroy the shrine of an imam (as) they truly believe in...are you out of your mind?!?!
