Angry Iraqis hold a golden fragment retrieved from inside the bombed holy shrine of al-Askari in Samarra, north of Baghdad.

post-2674-1140634960_thumb.jpg

The attack sparked immediate and furious protests from Shias. Reports said armed men had entered the shrine at dawn, overcoming guards before detonating their explosives.

No. This is an attack on Islam. Not just the Shia. The Aimmah(A) were the Aimmah(A) of ISLAM. By their own defintiion, not Shabbir's.

Secondly. Imam Ali(A) worked for Islamic Unity; Quran commands Islamic Unity. Therefore to those who work against Islamic Unity and say "Down with Unity" - as you have Br "Son of Fatima" (how ironic!! subhan Allah) are infact against Islam.

Please let us not let our emotions get the better of us; this is what the enemies of Allah want; realise this. Please for the sake of Allah realise this.

Agreed we need to take action, but as advices by our Marjaiya. Most of us do NOT live in Iraq, we do not know the situation there.

So ok, we stand up in arms, who exactly do we go attack? The Sunnies? Where is the proof ALL Sunnies planned and carried out the bombing? Or as long as we have someone to lash out at, it doesn't matter if the innocent get attacked?

It's important we wait and see what the investigation reveals. Those found guilty should of course be punished harshly.

Ayatollah Al-Modarissi has sent a letter to the Al-Azhar University and other Sunni Ulama demanding protection of the Honour of the Holy Prophet and his Holy family; the Sayed said: “The breach and sinful attack against the Domes of the Holy Prophetic Imams (who belong to the Holy Progeny) in Saminrra’a is an obvious assault on the honour of Rasoul-Allah and the Honour of his Great Family”

“And if the heinous cartoons deserve condemnation in protecting the honour of the Prophet and his reverence, then this attack that has reached the Shrines of his Sons, his flesh and blood, is even a greater insult to the honour and reverence of the Prophet which needs a greater condemnation (than the cartoon condemnation) and a greater defence; their honour is that of the honour of their Grandfather the Holy Mustapha (The Purified one), and His honour is their honour also” - Ayatollah Al-modarssi.

Ya Faraja Allah, it is still Muharram and your tragedies never end oh Ahlul Alabyte. Ya Faraja Allah, our tears have not yet dried for your Grandfather Al-Hussayn and now our grief is renewed for your Father and Grandfather (Al-Hadi). Ya Faraja Allah, what shall we do? The pain is too great and your enemies are joyous. Ya Faraja Allah, the same evil doers who destroyed the great Paradise of Al-Baqee3 have come now to destroy your heritage.

All the Marjae of Iraq and Iran have called for a week of mourning and ordered the shia to protest against these acts, BUT in a peaceful manner, let us follow the great and truthful companions of the Imams(AS) and follow the representatives of Imam Mehdi (ATF) has his fathers shrine has been destroyed, his heart has been upset even more he his sheading even more tears... DO NOT MAKE IT WORSE BY DISOBEYING HIS REPRESENTATIVES

A quick note. Our Imams have shown us that there are two times; one of peace as practised by Al Hasan, and a time for War as shown by Al Husein.

Not everyone calling for peace now is a coward or a whabbie sympathiser.

It's very funny that you mention this brother, as the majority of the posters are Muslims, followers of Ahl al-Bayt(A) and Imam Mahdi(AJ) - who ordered us to follow his representatives, the Maraj'e, during Ghaybat, while we chant "Labayk Ya Sistani", have magnificent posters of him here and there, but instead of following him as he urges us to have patience and do NOT blame our Sunni brethren or condemn them, we walk ahead of him and curse 1,2 billion people walking on earth.

Geesh what load of Ghiba which will be on our back on Judgement Day.

O frustrated man who can't controll your emotions - Light a candle instead of cursing the darkness!

Tehran, Feb 22 - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei in a statement Wednesday expressed condolences over the tragic profane made to the holy shrine of Shiite Imams, Imam Hadi (A.S.) and Imam Hassan Asgari (A.S.) in Iraq, proclaiming a week of national mourning. The statement reads as follows.

4060_606.jpg

Bismillah-e Rahman-e Rahim

We Belong to Allah and We Shall Return to Him

The felonious and bloody hand of malevolent criminals created a large tragedy today and committed another sin in aggressing religious sanctities. The reverent mausoleum of Hazrat Imam Hadi and Imam Asgari, peace be upon them, became subject to sacrilege and destruction leaving thereby an unbearable grief in the hearts of Shiites and the overall Muslims who feel love for (Islam's prophet) household, peace be upon them. The criminal act, whose perpetrators are possibly chosen from among hardline bigots or ill-fated and negligent mercenaries, has been planned by conspirators who have evil and malicious intentions.

This is a political crime and one must find its root in the intelligent bodies of Iraq's occupiers and the Zionists. Dominance-seeking powers, who find Iraqi political and social situation contrary to their hegemonic aims, are plotting in mind malicious ploys, including among others, to fan insecurity and sow religious discords.

Today's criminal act in Sammara added another page to the black record of Iraq's occupiers. The holy shrine of the Askariyin (the two Imams), peace be upon them, will once again get back into full swing by the zealous work of the lovers of the household, peace be upon them, God willing. Nevertheless, the criminal act left a dark blot on the forehead of Islam's enemies which may no be removed even for a long time.

I express my condolences for the tragic event to the reverent Prophet of Islam, may Allah pray for him and his family, and to the lofty status of the Baghiyat-Allah (the last Imam), may our souls be sacrificed to him, as well as all Shiite population worldwide and all zealous and aware Muslims who feel love for the pure household of God's prophet, peace be upon him and them. I proclaim a week of public mourning in the country.

I consider it as necessary to plea for the mourners in Iran, Iraq and other parts of the world to seriously refrain from any action which leads in confrontation and enmity among Muslim brethren. Definitely, there are hands behind which push Shiites to profane mosques and sacred places of Sunni people. Any move in this regard will promote the intentions of enemies of Islam and Muslim nations and is prohibited by the statute.

And Peace be to the righteous servants of Allah

Sayed Ali Khamenei

(salam)

This is the Official statement of Syed Sistani(HA) please we have already seen the statement of Syed Khamanei (HA) calling for peaceful protests this one is not different.....

In The Name of Allah The Merciful, The Compassionate

“They desire to put out the light of Allah with their mouths, and Allah will not consent save to perfect His light, though the unbelievers are averse”

(Holy Qur’an – 9:33- Repentance)

This morning, evil hands perpetrated a most heinous crime against the holy shrines of Imam Al-Hadi and Imam Al-Askari (may Allah bless them). Explosives were detonated, which destroyed a large part of the dome causing considerable damage to the surrounding area.

Words fall short of condemning this terrible crime that was aimed at creating discord between the Iraqi people so that the evil hands, of the unjust who have strayed from the path of Islam, may reach their malicious objectives.

The Iraqi government is called upon today, more than ever before; to accept its entire responsibilities and halt the series of criminal acts aimed at holy sites. If government security forces are incapable of providing adequate protection then the faithful can do so with help of Allah the Blessed and Almighty.

While we convey our condolences on this sorrowful occasion to our 12th Imam (may Allah hasten his reappearance), we call for a week of national mourning. We invite the faithful to protest and express their condemnations, on the violation of their sanctities, by peaceful means. We stress upon everyone going through the shock of this atrocious crime not to be drawn into what the enemies want them to be drawn into, which is sectarian discord, for as long as the enemies are seeking to pull Iraq in its flames.

There is no power but with Allah, The Sublime and Mighty and soon they who act unjustly shall know to what final place of turning they shall turn back.

The Shia can thank the american occupying force for this. And thank every Shia who supported the war and the invasion of Iraq. This is the insult Imam Al-Hujjah (as) has to face. His father's shrine has been destroyed. Thankyou every Shia who was happy the americans invaded.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Brother Ya Aba, do you think that even if the Shi'as did not support the american occupation forces, america would not have invaded this country and created fitna???

(bismillah)

May Allah (swt) curse the enemies of Ahlul Bayt.

I feel rage, grief, and helpless.  I wish that I could go and do something, or at least be with other shi'as right now to share this grief that I feel.

I echo the opinions of those voiced earlier- let's not use this as an excuse to divide.  Even if a sunni WAS behind this, he certainly doesn't speak or act on behalf of all sunnis.

Sabr.

Exactly my thoughts and feelings, sister.

------------------------------------

The heartbroken, in tears, make their hearts bleed, together with them, the deeply moved perceptive men of letters describe their wisdom and liberality, as they themselves used to do, eyes of sensitive and thoughtful people are full of overflowing tears, their voices choked up with emotion; they cry out to protest against the injustice done, they call up dumb and insensate souls to stir and take notice..........

Where is the "The Hope" who will put and end to tyranny and oppression? Where is the "preserved guaranty" who shall give new life to rule of law and refined way of life? Where is the "Chosen in preference good" who shall raise the spirits of the people and give currency to justice and fairplay? ...............

Where is he who shall break up meddlesome trouble and tampering? Where is he who shall pull down the foundations of confusion (polytheists) and hypocrisy? Where is he who shall stamp out corruption, vice, reaction and injustice? Where is he who shall trim the outgrowth of despair, longing and hardships? Where is he who shall erase the traces of unfairness and self-seeking conceit? Where is he who shall untie the twisted knotes of falsehood and disruption? Where is he who shall separate senselessness and insolence from the people? Where is he who shall tear up by the roots obstinacy, corruption and apostasy? .............

Where is the ultimate (Divine) source of plenty and prosperity?....Where is the defender of the traditions of the Prophets and their children? Where is the investigator of the blood of the Martyrs of Karbalaa? Where is he who shall get the upper hand over the perpetrators of crime and greed? Where is he who shall not rest until he answers the cries of help when called upon? Where is the foremost leader of the people – the just, the truthful and the wise? Where is the son of the chosen Prophet? The son of Ali Al-Murtaza! The son of Khadeejah, the resplendent! The son of Faatimah, the great!

Ayatullah Muhammad Fazil Lankarani:

for heaven sake why don't you shia's understand this attack is not done by a sunni or wahabi its done by these americans they want us to accuse sunni's and wahabi's so we fight eachother that will make us muslims a whole (sunni's wahabi's shia's or what ever youare) so weak then the americans will take over all muslims countries easily its a trap by americans and we shia's are falling init

Son of Fatima, XXShia_HeroineXX, Ali Naqi,

why are you guys hating on unity? you call ur self shiah's and your down with unity is that not ahlulbait(as) taught us

ahlulbait(as)did sabar and we should do sabar too

imam hussain(as) did sabar too .. if imam hussain(as) wanted to fight when he went karabala then hazarat abass(as) on his own was enuff to fight the yazeediats but our imam went to save the islam and not to fight, we should follow our imams steps and talk to our sunni brother with respect and then guide them to the right path this way they will not fight with they will listen to us and maybe then they will rekonise the true islam (shiaism)

why even comment on something you dont have any knowledge about

i'm with brother shabbir.hassanally

I did not involve any maraj in my comments, yet u decide to include their names. However, im assuming ur a shia, so i aint gonna argue with you. I await orders from my maraja but in due course we must all do what we can, take to the streets and show people what this means to us. Let us remain patient at this time, but be ready for any steps we SHIA need to take. Surely one who doesnt follow and love ali cannot enter heaven.

The daylight broke over the golden dome, a mark of holiness and purity. A place of worship and pilgrimage but who was to know that in a few hours the holy vicinty would be damaged, the ones who lay beneath the dome would be crushed

I dont know how Imam Al-Hujja (as) is feeling on this day.. for his father has been martyred twice and how this day must have bought back memories of Jannatul Baqee where the graves of his grandfathers were demolished... Surely each tear of blood that falls from his eyes has a story of oppression and injustice in it...

O Imam (as)! May Allah hasten your reappearence for the plains of Karbala, the winds of Baqee and the sand of Samarra awaits your justice

May Allah curse the killers and the oppressors of Mohammad (pbuh) and Aal Mohammad (as)

Labbiak Ya Imam Al-Hujja (as)

Inna lillah wa Innah Illayhi raji'un

Wsalaams

LANAT ON ....

(bla bla bla)

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Do you have nothing but hatred in your heart?

Geesh, awake and arise from your darkness and try to look a bit further then on your feet. You will see there are people around you who share the same grief, yet accomplish to maintain their humanity and don't become a blind slave of their emotions.

Light a candle instead of cursing the darkness, it will do good to your soul...I promise.

Attack on Samarra shrine widely condemned

22/02/2006 - 18:23:45

Muslims across the Middle East – Sunnis and Shiites alike – largely ignored sectarian divides today to unite in condemnation of the the bombing that destroyed of the golden dome that graced one of Iraq’s holiest Shiite shrines.

King Abdullah II, the Jordanian monarch, call it “a heinous attack … (that) has greatly angered us and has provoked our strong feelings as direct descendants of the Prophet Mohammed.”

Radical Iraqi Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, who was touring the region, cut short a visit to Lebanon to return to his troubled homeland.

At a news conference when he reached Damascus, Syria, al-Sadr laid blame either with the Americans or the Iraqi government.

“If responsibility is not in the hands of the Iraqi government, then I consider the responsibility for this event lies with the occupation forces which should either leave immediately or according to a timetable,” the firebrand cleric told reporters.

In Egypt, Mohammed Mahdi Akef, leader the Muslim Brotherhood, a Sunni organisation that is the world’s oldest and largest conservative Islamic movement, appealed to “all Iraqi brothers, Sunnis and Shiites, to comprehend the conspiracy which is targeting all Iraqi people and to stand united to deter the sedition that might destroy everything.”

Influential Egyptian Sunni cleric Sheikh Youssef al-Qaradawi said the blast was “a very dangerous action that kindles the fires of sedition.”

He refused to accept that fellow Sunnis were behind the bomb blasts that ripped apart the golden dome of the Askariya shrine in Samarra, about 60 miles north of Baghdad.

“We cannot imagine that the Iraqi Sunnis did this. So who did do it? Who planned with such slyness and precision and got away without being arrested?” he said.

“No one benefits from such acts other than the US occupation and the lurking Zionist enemy.”

The bombing of the shrine, which contains the tombs of two revered Shiite imams – both descendants of the Prophet Mohammed – was the third major attack against Shiite targets in as many days.

It was feared today’s violence could ignite an all-out sectarian conflict in Iraq with passions are already high as Shiites, Sunnis and Kurds struggle to reach a compromise on a new government.

In Lebanon, which suffered mightily during its own sectarian civil war, Foreign Minister Fawzi Salloukh said: “This terrorist act did not target a particular sect as much as it targeted Iraq in its entirety.

“Therefore, the response from Iraqis should be more unity and security in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and pioneering role in the region.”

Lebanon’s powerful Shiite militant Hezbollah organisation blamed the US.

“We call upon Muslims everywhere, and especially in Iraq, to avoid falling into a major trap of sedition designed for them by the American occupation and their agents inside Iraq,” Hezbollah said in a statement.

Lebanon’s League of Muslim Ulemas, a grouping of Sunni Muslim clerics, also denounced the attack and called on Sunnis and all Muslims to take the “proper stand in this tragedy, and confront those who committed it, whomever they may be.”

Prime Minister Fuad Saniora said: “This criminal act is aimed at sowing dissension among members of the same people and splitting Shiite and Sunni Muslims with the aim of striking Iraq’s unity and the unity of Islamic ranks.”

Jordan’s King, in a message to the Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, said: “This hideous criminal act carried out by a lost and cowardly group aims at inciting sectarian strife among the brotherly Iraqi people.”

The Qom Shiite Seminary, Iran’s most influential clerical body, said in a statement that the “Ayatollahs…have condemned the explosion and announced one-day public mourning.”

Hashem Hosseini, the head of the seminary, told the state-run television all classes of the seminary will be closed in protest against the attack.

Kuwait’s new emir, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Sabah, sent a message to the Iraqi president saying those that “target holy places, and kill and terrorise innocent people are as far as can be from the teachings of Islam.”

Kuwait’s senior Shiite cleric, Ayatollah Mohammed Baqer al-Muhri, accused fundamentalist Sunni Muslims who “blow up cars and kill innocent Iraqis. We call on the Iraqi authorities to arrest them immediately and punish them,” al-Muhri said.

“They felt ousted by the new Iraqi government and they want to put obstacles in its way,” he said.

Brother Ya Aba, do you think that even if the Shi'as did not support the american occupation forces, america would not have invaded this country and created fitna???

ateast they wud be free from any guilt...When we read the ziyarat of Imam Husain(AS) we curse even those who were silent spectators....So being silent is like becoming a part of the crime...

Anyway but this is not the time to blame each other....we cant change the past but together we can change the future...

Our emotions shud not let us draw into enemies' trap...
