haha so u like listening to Operas?

Personally, I'd prefer to watch the Grand Prix.......without having to worry about someone trying to steal my car! Did you know Sydney is on par with NY and London in terms of crime?

Melbourne has better infrastrucutre and is the economic captial of Australia.

So yeah, i prefer the worlds most liveable city.......mainly because i enjoy living in it.

meh. Melb v Sydney has been done to death anyway.

^That's what I call a sore loser.....facts are facts

Melbournes the worlds most liveable city.

That's a fact. B)

Sis for most .. Liverpool may as well be Tasmania! I work around that area so know that it doesnt take long AT ALL.. on the actual M5 it's only a 12 minute drive (i go against the peak hour traffic alhamdulillah lol) .. most of the time is actually getting to the M5 and getting off it.. Bass what can we do .. some dont like to travel out of their comfort zones!

I jumped onto this thread hoping to find people who lived in the same city as me.. perhaps widen our contacts in a country where forming friendships is not always easy as a Shia Muslim.

What do I find? People doing the ridiculous us and them thing.

How about we be grateful for the land that Allah (pbuh) has blessed us with?

I am relatively new to shiachat.com and came here to widen my knowledge and meet new people. Yes we can all have fun, but this isn't fun.. this is petty.

I can understand how u feel but most of the people in this forum have known each other for ages and are quite close, so its all jokes and harmless fun, its normal in this forum. They're not actually serious, and some of the members in here are always sarcastic and making jokes out of anything and everything.

Once you get to know the people here, they are all really quite nice. :)

Welcome to the forum and enjoy your time here!

Perhaps I started off on the wrong foot here - it doesn't make me hate the Sydney/Melbourne/Perth etc competition any less though!

Salams to all - I look forward to getting to know you all - first impressions aren't always right, hey?!

Now now, that’s not fair. As if you didn't appreciate the fresh air...beautiful mountain views.... the "potless", wide roads....ummm, yeah that’s about it :S

Anyway, that’s besides the point, should we be rejected from these polls, just because we're from Canberra? Talk about disregarding the minority...

I can't believe Canberra isn't even on the poll list, while there is so much hype about Sydney. Especially considering that:

a ) Once you leave the Harbour, there is nothing really special about Sydney.

b ) The Western suburbs of Sydney were described as having the highest percentage of "unhappy" people in the whole country.

c ) Considering we don't go 'clubbing' or to any beaches, is there much of a difference in terms of things to do?

d ) It was classified as one of the 'rudest' cities in terms of customer service.

e ) You can't buy fireworks there :) :)

Actually, I don't really think Sydney's THAT bad, but I have to defend Canberra since we r clearly outnumbered on this forum!

Now that's not true - look at all the pubs, clubs, Bondi Beach, Oxford Street, the Casino, Kings X......

b ) The Western suburbs of Sydney were described as having the highest percentage of "unhappy" people in the whole country.

I'd say they were more sad than unhappy.

c ) Considering we don't go 'clubbing' or to any beaches, is there much of a difference in terms of things to do?

Hello? Oxford Street?

d ) It was classified as one of the 'rudest' cities in terms of customer service.

That's complete rubbish, you Canberran freakshow. But please do come again!

e ) You can't buy fireworks there :) :)

Phhh... you got us on that one.

LOL actually, if you focus closely you will notice that he is mocking Sydney not supporting it ;)

Salaams,

Dishdash is a dear Brother of mine whom I have immense respect for. His sense of humour, which others may perceive as 'rude' 'upfront' or 'in your face' is one of his attributes that I love. You will come to love it, believe me, he will have you cracking up very very soon (and thinking too...smart fella he is!).

Keep it up DD, hope you are enjoying your time here so far! :D
