Salam Alykum Dear Brothers and Sisters,

In the infamous surah 9 verse 40 Allah (swt) says

[shakir 9:40] If you will not aid him, Allah certainly aided him when those who disbelieved expelled him, he being the second of the two, when they were both in the cave, when he said to his companion: Grieve not, surely Allah is with us. So Allah sent down His tranquillity upon him and strengthened him with hosts which you did not see, and made lowest the word of those who disbelieved; and the word of Allah, that is the highest; and Allah is Mighty, Wise.

It is confusing, with all the he's,

Is this correct

If you will not aid him (PROPHET MOHAMMED), Allah certainly aided him (PROPHET MOHAMMED) when those who disbelieved expelled him, he (ABU BAKR) being the second of the two, when they were both in the cave, when he (PROPHET MOHAMMED) said to his (PROPHET) companion(ABU BAKR): Grieve not, surely Allah is with us. So Allah sent down His tranquillity upon him (PROPHET MOHAMMED) and strengthened him (PROPHET MOHAMMED) with hosts which you did not see, and made lowest the word of those who disbelieved; and the word of Allah, that is the highest; and Allah is Mighty, Wise.

Is this correct?

Also what does Allah(swt) mean by saying the second of the two.
