1) Any volunteers willing to update calendar?

That shouldn't be a problem. Anyone who wishes to volunteer can do that but if there is no one, then I can do it my self. Nevertheless, there is an updated version on this website. All we have to do is use the dates given and put them in our own calender.

http://hussainiat.com/calendar/calendar.asp?month=1&year=2014

12108457935_d8c2ca53fd_b.jpg

Here's the only downside about the above calender though. It's too big to fit on empty right side of the forum. We would have to use a similar one like the first one I posted. The only difference would be, instead of the writing on each day, our calender would have the special days shaded in either blue or red, while the normal remaining days remain in plain white color. Let me illustrate this out.....

12109051643_72db39244d_b.jpg

So here is what it would kind of look like. I know it's not too fancy now, but it can be improved inshallah. The blue represent mawlids and the red would represent deaths and martyrdoms

This is how it will work. Say for example I click on "19th of January" and on that day, it is the Wiladat of the prophet(pbuh) and Imam Al-Sadiq(as). When I click on that date, it should display the info on the rectangle box below that. The rectangle box below would show every event and it's details for each specific date clicked. Moreover, if no date is clicked, then the system should automatically display the next upcoming event. Dates that are not highlighted should not display anything. Moreover, the top of the box should display the Islamic date.

What do you guys think? :donno:...

^ How about something simple such as below? You will also be able to add details and images in the link. Let me know if/when you are available and i'll grant access to update the calendar. Thx

Fix the search feature....

and the ability to look up what I posted yesterday, and the day before that....

Is it only me that the search feature is disabled for? :(

Search isn't perfect but works. Your recent threads and posts are also visible.

Is it possible, that I take the command of updating the calender (if Taqwa allows me to do that) ?

Sure, you can do that. I don't mind. I can't say no anyways. However, it is up to bro inshallah if he approves that or not.

Nevertheless, you have to promise me that you take full responsibility of it and constantly update it. You can't just do it whenever you feel like it.

What if there was a different chatroom for males and females? This way the brothers can have their private talks and likewise the sisters.

Since you need to reach 50 posts to enter the chatroom, I guess it would be difficult for an imposter to fake their gender. Or maybe the separate chat rooms can have 100 posts just to be on the safe side. (we dont want pervs entering the sisters chat room)

on this german shia forum they have slightly different systems.

one of them i find quite good. one has the option of asking to be deactivated or unregistered.

and if one is deactivated one simply sends an email to them to ask to be reactivated then one is back again.

A'oozubilla himinash Shaitaanir Rajeem.
Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem.
Assalamu Alaikum.

People, Muslims and non-Muslims, visit Islamic websites most usually during the following situations:

Ramadan
Hardships
Eids
Shab-e-Miraj, Barat, Milad-un-Nabi,  Asura, Safar's last Wednesday.
Research

These are the times to catch people's attention.

Now, from visiting different websites, I noticed several things Islamic websites and forums should preferably have, but they don't :
They can be as articles, threads or books ; with authentic quotations and references, chapter no and verse no.
Forgive me if I hurt anyone's feelings.

# Greatest deeds , or heaviest deeds (the Prophet Salallaahu Alaihi wa Sallam seem to give different answer based on questioner, time, situation)
# Best kinds of people
# worst kinds of people
# Signs of hyprocrite
# World crime rates and Islamic solutions
# Conditions of deeds to be accepted (ie, why Allah rejects our deeds - show-off, not following Islamic regulations on Ibadat, etc)
# Greatest sins
# root sins ; actions that lead to sins
# types of Shirk
# Iman:
    its branches,
    its pillars
# Salat time calculator
# Zakat calculator
# Translation and Tafseer of Quran in different languages
# Why Quran should be read with understanding
# Hadith download , in different languages (with commentary)
# Why Duas are not answered
# Recitations and deeds to protect from dangers, magic, possession, Jinn, evil eye, calamities, sins, Shirk, hypocracy
# Hardships as blessings in disguise
# Daily Sunnats - Sunnats that can be performed daily
# List of Bidahs ; doubtful actions to be avoided
# Similarities between Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi, Hanbali, Salafi/AhleHadith, Shia, Sufi
# Ibadats commonly aggreed among Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi, Hanbali, Salafi/AhleHadith, Shia, Sufi
# Wudu - Farz, Wajib, Sunnnat
# Ghusl- its Farz and Sunnat ; When is having Ghusl Farz or Wajib or Sunnat.
# Salat- list of Farz, Wajib, Sunnat. Number of Rakaats in each Waqt.
# Islamic point of view on Jesus, Mary, Moses, Abraham (Peace be upon them)
# Hints and Tips on mistakes people make with passwords
# When people do not respond to a subscribed thread for along time. the thread gets automatically unsubscribed. This needs to be changed for many of us.

Yes, brother, you are right.

But the problem is that topics get derailed by other members.

The culture of conversation needs to be reviewed.

This community conversation introduced by the Internet has a lot of drawbacks.

The off-topic (but nevertheless interesting) observation about monkeys and Shakespeare has been moved here:

...I would disallow copy-paste texts, be more cautious about trolls, and delete too long texts, from people who troll about one or the same topic over and over again. Posts/Texts which are too long makes it impossible to discuss or a thread readable. And they usually don't answer the arguments/questions which were posed before. (I am talking about a particular person in recent times who posts never-ending texts/replies without answering anything and only to troll around.)

We should have a "tag" feature, like the one on Facebook. It helps to notify specific members to comment on a specific thread that they haven't posted on before, instead of having to message them, send them the link to the thread and tell them to comment on it.

What was wrong with that observation? It blended in perfectly with the discussion on hand and was not offensive in any way.

IP board doesn't provide this feature. We can buy a hook for this purpose but problem with hooks is that they are always behind on forum updates.

I am pleased to see that the moderator Muhammed Ali is taking a consistent and active stance on moderating inappropriate comments and material in posts. I would appreciate it if other moderators were equally as proactive in doing so, as one person alone can not be expected to cover all the posts and topics on such a large and active forum.

The other mods have a much more sensible and, sane approach to their voluntary job.

Ok, without starting another thread about this, here goes:

I don't know what y'all are smoking these days admins and mods. I demand to know why Invoker was unbanned. He is derailing topics, trolling other members, calling us names and every thing he does. Are you trying to play God and are testing our patience and fortitude? Or perhaps mine alone? Have you been contacted by Mossad and intimidated when you decided to unban him? Why the hypocrisy with this particular chap? Great lovers of Maula (as) have been banned here far quicker and for much less and never been given any respite in comparison to this Yazeedi who feels like Umar ibn Saad in the strength of his venom for Shias.

Last time I checked, Derailing discussions and calling names and not heeding warnings was considered a universal internet forums crime. Moderation powers doesn't mean you moderate only threads of your own interest and only apply rules of your own choosing or when it is convenient.

Personal differences aside, am I not speaking on merit? And there are still a few sane elders left among you. So whats up with all that? On Facebook and elsewhere the Shia have been pointing out how SC is dying but I knew better. However this time around I also fear the same seeing how things are going.

If the SC owners have found some special people and wish to venerate them then perhaps give them green or yellow name tags OR recruit more mods. I can see a huge pile of rubbish growing and giving off stink here. Keeping it clean needs moderators with free time. People running websites and individuals already laboring and striving hard in other fields, as respectable and honorable they may be, and quite obviously simply do not have the time to moderate this place.

Or have you lost your enthusiasms and Shiachat forums should suffer the fate of what was the favorite toy of a grown up child who has lost interest in it? That is what its all beginning to look like.

^ Mods will warn a member when they go against the rules. Warnings add up to suspension. When a person is suspended they are allowed to come back on the condition that they behave. If they go against the rules they are suspended again. At some point the admins will decide about a permanent ban. Have patience. Thank you.

Salaamalikum Sister Hameedeh,

Hope all is well. I cursed and said a bad word I shouldn't have, with my other account in a post and I didn't get any warnings at all. Nor did anyone edit my post. Atleast last I checked they didn't.

I thought I'd be up front and honest Muslim brother and admit that. I apologize. :)

^ Salam, JerryJones. There are thousands of posts here and mods cannot read every single one. If you click on the Report button of that post, inshaAllah a mod can remove it. Please be more careful in the future. The mods spend a lot of time editing when they could be participating in the discussions instead.

This forum is much better moderated than it was in the past. People used to get away with much more.

Invoker has a lot of warnings and has been suspended many times (you don't see this).

Some mods are of the opinion that his type exposes the ill character of people of his ilk.

In my opinion, there may be a fear that getting rid of all of them will leave less to discuss. If we had more well-mannered sunnis involved in discussions, then maybe things would be different.

On Facebook and elsewhere the Shia have been pointing out how SC is dying but I knew better.

Forums are dying around the Internet. Facebook is where some of the worst "shia" gather to have discussions and this place is better than that place.

Brother Darth_vader :

Every point is having two side +ve and -ve, unless he is not abusing but provoking .. he is actually encouraging you to get more knowledge. If you take that +ve at the end you will get full of knowledge and he will remain same like he is. Its a advantage time how you like to take.

I don't know if you have done any GD ( Group Discussion ) specially for MBA ( Masters in Business Administration ) .. there they are giving every person 20 minute in two parts. On a subject 10 minute in favor and 10 minute against. In that way a person can Calculate all aspect of Particular subject.

So in this way Invoker is saving your 10 minute of -ve side and giving you full opportunity to invest 20 minute on +ve side to answer all those -ve.

I guess you got what i like to mention.

And that is why I post so often here and feel concerned about this place. Forums are and have always been dying around the internet. But this one should be especially different in even that, because its about the following of the most special.

Some mods are of the opinion that his type exposes the ill character of people of his ilk.

There is so much wrong with that brother. He has declared that he does not follow any madhhab. So which ilk is that? Also he is ignorant and whatever his alleged ilk may be he is not the right specimen of it. And doesn't his assumed ilk already have much more exposing mass baby killers, mass slaughtering literally and revolting minions of Israel, Dajjal and the CIA? Just saying. Take your time with him. :)
