Career change

After spending almost 5 months at my job (software developer), I've decided it's not for me. Finding another job is no good because most likely it will turn out like my current one. So I'm considering totally changing my career.

Problem is though, I don't know what field to get into. All I know is I hate the whole 9-5 deal and sterile office enviornment. I'd like something where I can come in as late or even better work from home. Workload should be minimal and pay good. What do you guys suggest?

Business is one of the recommended occupations as it is the sunnah of Rasoolillah pbuh .

But, no one can just start it, you got to have $$ for this :D , I advise you to make Khoja friends and learn tricks from them in business ;) ..

Nothing like starting your own business, being your own boss and managing your own incom. Problem is, there is lots of compitition out there, unless you're willing to find some partners just as dedicated as you, you can forget about the idea.

I do not think changing your career is the answer, just change the focus.

Sometime back, before I retired, part of my job was developing math models of physical processes. For fun and someway to spend my spare time, I started to visit businesses to find out what kind of business specific software they would like to have and was not available.

Those businesses which have to make reports to state governments are prime targets. I settled on those that used pull-tab gambling. I had to learn quite a bit about the business. When I had a final product, I sold it for $2500 a pop.

For each business I hard-coded their information into the distribution media. That way I did not have to worry about them selling copies to other similar businesses.

I do not know where you live; but, look for large number of similar businesses. If you can write a specific application that can save them 10 hours of paperwork a month....it is a cash cow.

Yeah, especially e-business. Nowadays everyone and their dog has an online business. Also discouraging is the fact that 50-75% of businesses fail within a few years.

Right now, i come into work at 06:30 sharp and leave at 3:00....

Its hard but kinda alright, as i don't do nothing for the first three hours at work anyway...except surf shiachat :P

I am a housewife ... work is tough but flexible hours and time to sit on the net all day. Get someone to work for you and the money will come in and all you will need to do is pay the cheque in at the bank like me. Try it you might like it :!!!:
