Salam Alaykum.

There are too many. It doesn't all depend on the dua', but it depends on your sincerity and ability to lower yourself while reading it. Even reciting a simple "Bismillah" can be unbelievably powerful. And remember that it's not all about the duas.. if it needs work or study, do so along with the duas.

Besides sis Ishq's recommendation, some other duas: Dua' Mashlool (otherwise known as "Dua' al-shaab al-ma'khoothi bithanbih"), Dua' mi'raj, Naadi 3aliyyan. If your desire is huge, there's a 14-day dua you have to do consistently. I know a man who escaped prison because his family devoted themselves to it. It's simple.. 1600 salawaats gifted daily, starting on a Monday. Each day you send these salawaats to one of the infallibles, until you reach Imam Zaman (ajfs). Meaning, 16 rounds on the masbaha each day.. preferrably on wuduu' and with no interference.

I know you said not to ask what it is, but it's easier to figure out which dua' you want to read, based on your desire. "Khazaanatul Asraar" is an excellent book to refer to.. if you don't have it, I can always scan pages from it. I forgot the name of it, but there's a dua' that the prophet (saws) says he's afraid that everyone might read it, b/c it's so powerful and sure to be mustajaab that people might quit work altogether.

Bismillah Al-Rahman Al-Raheem....

That, although so short, is very powerful. The story of Sayed Al-Mortadha (ra) and his student proves when you say this with certainty and trust in Allah (swt), you can indeed witness miracles.

That's the one I was thinking of :) For those who arent familiar w/the story, there was a man who was constantly late to his classes, because there was a body of water between his house and the place he attended for Islamic courses. Sayyed Murtadha (I believe it was) jokingly told him, "just read bismillah and walk on the water." The man was so innocent and sincere, he took his advice seriously (sort of in a gullible manner). When he read bismillah the next day, he walked on the water. When he got to class the Sayyed asked him how he got there so early. The man told him, "I recited bismillah, just as you told him." The sayyed was amazed, he couldn't do it himself.

surah mulk, surah yaseen and surah rahmaan

In mafateeh al-jinan, based on narrations, it's recommended to read Surat al-Mulk before going to bed.. thousands of angels will protect you and ask Allah (swt) to forgive you. If someone dies during the day after reciting Surat Al-Rahman in the afternoon, he dies a shaheed.

ok i dont know jack really but from experience if u want a miracle to happen - you have to be sincere weep and talk to Allah with your whole heart - as if you are desparate hiding nothing. You can do this by saying (bismillah) saying salwaat then talking to God in your language.

2 of my favourite duas for these situations are

Elahi kayfa Adooka and Ya man azharal Jameel - both of which are posted in our dua section here on shiachat - latest page i think (pg6?)

sincerity tears are crucial and trust in the One who will help :)

2 rakaat namaz Ziyarat Ashura and dua Alqamah is known to be effective- recite for 10 consecutive days - some say 40

Du'a Noor Kabeer (the longer version) (on duas.org) (noor refers to Allah (sawt)- manifesting his power and majesty in ahl-ul-bait who are his light) recited for 40 consecutive nights after the isha prayer is recommended for sickness, this could be well-combined with du'a -e- tawasool and hadith-e-kisa when necessary and the spirit is prpared and has faith in it.

18.  “Whoever obeys God’s order and offers his “Dua” properly, they will be answered.  I said: How should I pray?  The Imam said: First praise God Almighty, then remember Him and thank Him for His blessings.  After that, send greetings to the Holy Prophet and his progeny, then confess your sins and ask forgiveness for them.  That is the right way for “Dua”.

This book is great for the fulfillment of dua's. And please please remember me in your prayers...I need the similar...a miracle!

By the way no one mentioned Salaat-ul-layl, I've heard its great for duas. And so far everyone's given you everything you need, I'll just add dua-e-yastasheer and dua #13 from sahifa-e-sajjadiyah.

You know they say if 40 people gather together and pray for something they wont go away empty handed...I once asked 40 people on shiachat to do aamal-e-ashur for me on a Friday. We should organize that, inshaAllah on one time 40 people to come online and do dua's for everyone.

Salam Alaykum.

I forgot the name of it, but there's a dua' that the prophet (saws) says he's afraid that everyone might read it, b/c it's so powerful and sure to be mustajaab that people might quit work altogether.

Sorry for the delay. My sincere apologies to those who PMed me, especially a suicidal member (lol). Had some trouble translating the merits. The Dua’ is “Kanz Al3arsh Al7aqeeqi” or otherwise known as Dua’ Yastasheer (I had no idea). Dua' Yastasheer can be found in mafateeh aljinan. I apologize beforehand for any errors in translation, I hope the following comes close enough.

[Taken from Khazaanatul Asraar fee Alkhutoom wal Athkaar Volume 2]

Imam Ja’far Al-Saadiq (as) narrates that his father narrated about his grandfather Imam Ali (as) the following. Imam Ali (as) said, “The prophet of Allah (saws) taught me this dua, and commanded me to cherish it during every hour of misfortune and despair, and told me to teach it to the leader after me, and commanded me to keep with it throughout my entire life, until I meet Allah (swt)." And he said, "When you awake and go to sleep, this dua’ is a treasure from the treasures of the Throne."

Ibn Ka3b Al-Ansaari asked the prophet, “May my mother and father be sacrificed for you, clarify for us and tell us about the thawaab of this dua’.” The prophet (saws) laughed and said, “Surely the son of Adam is cautious about what is forbidden, I will tell you about some of the thawaab of this Dua'... As for the owner of the dua', while he prays to Allah (swt) goodness is sprinkled unto his head from the middle of the sky to the earth, and Allah (swt) will bring down to him an abundance of mercy and assurance (itmi'naan) and there will not be for this dua' an end without the throne of the Lord of the Worlds.. (something like..) with this dua' you will have a position around the throne of Allah (swt) similar to that of bees around a honeycomb. And Allah (swt) watches the person who recites this dua'. And whosoever reads this dua' three times, there is nothing this person asks Allah (swt) for that will not be fulfilled, in this world, as well as the Hereafter. And Allah (swt) will save this person from the punishments and torture of the grave, and will relieve him of the pressures of the chest. On the Day of Judgment he will succeed and be treated as a precious white pearl. He will rise between the hands of the Lord of the Worlds and Allah (swt) will command generosity unto him and tell him, "My servant, take from heaven whatever you wish from what Allah (Swt) has in abundance and generosity that no eye has seen and no ear has heard.. take what no creation has imagined and no tongue has described."

Salman Alfarisi (ra) enquired more on the thawaab of this dua'. The prophet (saws) said, "Oh aba 3abdillah, [wallathee ba3athani bil7aqqi nabiyyan] if a crazy person recited this dua' he will wake up that hour, and if a woman who has hard labor recites this dua', the child will be released as quick as the blinking of an eye, and if.... Yes Oh Salman, if a person recites this dua' for 40 nights, Allah (swt) will forgive him for whatever was between him and his Lord, and whatever was between him and human beings. [Wallathy ba3athani bil7aqqi nabiyyan] Oh Salman, nobody recites this dua' without the hardships and stress and sickness of this dunya is removed from his heart. Yes Oh Salman, whosoever prays to Allah (swt) with this dua' (a7sanahu am lam ya7sunhu?) and then went to sleep with the intention of gaining thawaab, Allah (swt) sends him with every letter from this dua' 1,000 angels whose faces are brighter than the sun.

And Salman said, "Would Allah (swt) give all this thawaab?" The prophet (saws) said, "Oh Salman, don't tell the people until I tell you greater news than what I have just told you." Salman (saws) said, "Oh prophet of Allah and why do you command me thus?" The prpohet (saws) said, "I am afraid that people will leave their work and rely upon the dua'." Salman said, "tell me, Oh Rasool Allah" The prophet (saws) said, "Whosoever prays with this Dua' and during his life he committed large sins, and then dies during that night or day after reciting this dua' to Allah (swt), he will die a martyr (shaheed) and if he died Oh Salman without forgiveness from Allah (swt), He (swt) will forgive his deeds with His generosity and it is this dua'...." [Muhaj Alda3awaat, p. 167]

The author (Alsayyed Muhammad Taqi Almuqaddam) of the book says: "It is not permissible to leave this dua' while looking at its abundant benefits, but one must read it whenever possible."

Allah yit'abbal inshaAllah.
