I think I have to agree with heaven. What makes you think that you have the right to call people lazy bums? As far as you know most of the people on here work alot harder than you do and probably have a more productive life. When you have kids and a house to run you come back and talk to me about not having a life. ^_^

Salam Alaikoum sister....

The only place where threads and posts shouldn't be taken seriously and offensive is in the ''Just For Fun'' forum.

But don't worry about it sis. I can see that you are pretty new to this forum, so it will take some time for you to get used to the people on this board. We all do mistakes and we're all here to learn from each other. You can always express your personal opinion as long as you are not disrespecting any of the members...it's all good.

Take care..

We understand that people joke however just as there is a time and a place for everything the same goes for joking. As sis heaven pointed out if this was the just for fun section then there probably wouldnt have been a misunderstanding. I understood sis maryum was joking however my reply was more of a maybe think before you generalize wether seriously or jokingly about people.

And sis maryam I am sorry for the sarcastic nature of my post  Please accept my apologies

Asalaamu Alaikum...

Awww, Bro. Muhammad Ali...

I'm sure it's not as bad as it seems :)

Want to know what my life is like? lol...

If I'm not in class, then I'm either sleeping, eating, or at ShiaChat...!! And that is seriously not a joke...!!

I don't go out much... and if I do, the only place I go to is *Barnes and Noble*... :)

I really need to get a part-time job... I need to keep myself busy doing something productive...!! hehe :)

could be because of dicrimination i look like a terorist and my social life makes me seem like a fanatic in western eyes

I'm not sure exactly what you mean... Do you mean that when you go out in public, people think you are a terrorist? I wouldn't care what people think...!! Do what you want, as long as it is halal :)

sis. Nur...

Awww... I never take your posts seriously lol... :) Jk... Unless they are serious of course...!! But I would've known that was meant as a joke... I love your sense of humour, you crack me up...!!

Take care ya'll, ma'Salaama

hmm sis zuljenah is liek me...sleeping and eating is fun...i dont knw abt barnes and nobles...why do you go there anyway...to buy books?

Salaamz Bro. Salman...

Nah, I don't buy books each time I go there, only once in a while when I am in the mood to read a good book... I just love the atomosphere of BN, which is why I spend a lot of time there... And there is a cafe there too... It's so nice and cozy  I usually just walk around looking at all the different books, picking up little facts here and there lol... Nothing else to do where I live... If you come here for college, you'll know what I mean...!! Then you, too, will start going to BN lol... :D

Take care, ma'Salaama

Assalamu Alaykum,

Awww, guys and gals, life can't be that boring!! Cheer up! Yeah, for awhile, things may seem monotanous...school, home stuff, eat, internet, read, sleep, and repeat (for some)..but eventually something comes along and breaks that phase of hum-drum..

You can always join some sort of group, or start some group with some friends, there's the local masjid (if your fortunate enough to live near one) that has activities going on..For instance, the masjid here started a group night for the youth, and they absolutely love it! I remember, I took some time off after I graduated from high school, I spent the time wondering what I wanted to do, I wasn't sure if I wanted to quickly jump into college, so I ventured to find other possibilities, yeeeks, that was the worst and most boring time of my life! I needed to keep on going, reading, working for some sort of goal, so eventually I went to college, which was a smart decision...

So InshAllah, something will come up for all you who have not to much to do, you'd be surprised!!

I wish i lived in a farm

LOL, Bro Hizbullahi, that'sexactly what I was thinking long time ago!! All I wanted was to live on a farm, work there from dawn till dusk, and own a horse ^_^ Hehe, then I visited a friend who lived on a farm, her and her family worked and raised nearly everything...it was beautiful. But, hehe, it wasn't for me, I was too much of a city girl  LOL, but it's probably totally different for you, just my lil story...I still want a horse though  !!

I was wondering exactly what this "group night for youth" was... To tell the truth, I was just looking for ideas that could be implemented at our local masjid.

wow, to most of u, i feel like i have something to show for my life, well, not really, i do goto school, i do eat, i do sleep (Altho not a lto), i do go on shiachat, and i work on week-ends, in a gas station that is more busy than a pastry shop selling hotcakes!

man, for every1 in Ottawa, pump ur gas ASAP, monday afternoon, it might jump to 80 something cents a litre, and that's DEADLY. When I left today, it was 69.9, and it hsould stay like that until tommorow morning, but dont take my word for it

Assalamu Alaykum,

Well, brother, the group youth night consists of a lot of fun and educational activities, that in hope, the youth might take advantage of.

Usually the alim of the masjid/center is the one who gets the ball rolling, sometimes a short speech is given, Q&A, then the kids can go out and play whatever sport is going on, an Islamic movie is offered also, craft time, computer games, at times there is a discussion for the sisters, game time, sometimes a play/mesraheyah is scheduled for that night. LOL, the highlight is the barbeques, and just anything else that will allow the Muslim youth to get together, enjoy one another's time, listen to what everyone is up to, find common ground, make new friends, find out what issues their peers are facing, and lots more. MashAllah, the kids really do enjoy it and find it much more entertaining than going to the movies or the mall..

InshAllah, your local masjid finds as much success, and hopefully more, when you establish this. At first the outcome might be low, but InshAllah, with lots to offer they'll come by the droves :)

G'luck

First the answer for the question asked:

Doing nothing ;) out of job :( B) pls iltemase dua to all of u in this context for me

OK now for those who wanted ideas what can be done.

Hmmm...when i was in my varsity i always take active interest in arranging the "Youm e Hussain" annual function.

Else here in our locality we have established a little organisation "Shaheed Mutaheri Forum" www.smforum.org of like minded youths. What was our aim. Actually at the starting of this organisation we were very confused. Its the time of mid 2000. Here daily killings were going on esp. doctors and since we r engineers so we thought one day we will also be targeted so why don we die after doing something. So my friend also my batch mate went to some Ulemas for guidance in this regard. They advised to spread awareness among the people that what is actually going on. So at first we arrange lectures. It greatly helped us gave us confidence that we can do something constructive and also the people starting to appreciate us. Now Mashallah we r recognised organisation and arranging diff lectures and seminars and printing materials of diff topics esp on core issues facing our Ummah today. We also sit together and talk on present day topics. That is really very helpful cuz here we freely transfer our views to others and vice versa. We have also launched our website i mentioned earlier and pls do visit it though it is in early stages but we have downloaded some of the lectures and seminars and articles.

Practical tips: to work only three or four like minded dedicated youths r enough.

For finances pls first self finance your projects don approach anybody in first instance. First let people know u r doing something constructive then they will contact u themselves. Our experience :)

For first year work very quietly and selectively.

Do projects that direct influence your community in the whole and youths in particular.

U people can work freely without fear as that freedom is not here!

My parents still not satisfied what i m doing. They fear for my security. But how many times i told them that they r also killing people who r sitting at home then whats the point in sitting home waiting ... but they r parents  i know.

So the point sharing u people these thoughts is pls pls pls do something for the collective wisdom of the community and Ummah in the whole.

Ok its enough for now.
