'Ashes' sold at garage sale

A woman in New York is in a spot of bother with her husband after accidentally selling the ashes of his first wife for 58 cents at a garage sale.

Anita Lewis sold the ceramic turtle jar containing the ashes of Terrence Lewis's first wife to a woman who planned to use it as a cookie jar, reports news.com.au

Mrs Lewis held the sale at the weekend while her husband was asleep in the house.

The large turtle container was quickly snapped up, despite the buyer not being able to get the lid off.

Mr Lewis's first wife had collected turtles and the couple's home was full of them, Mrs Lewis said.

"We have lots of turtles," she told the Elmira Star-Gazette newspaper. "It didn't even register that this was the one (containing the ashes)."

The couple hoped the woman would discover the ashes and return them.

that is SICK... well who knows maybe she is a practical lady and she will just clean out the ashes... i had to sprinkle ashes once, it didn't really seem like they belonged to a person, they were just ashy

Yeah; but what I find truly disturbing is that this jar was going to be a potential cookie jar ... ewwww! If the buyer has made it a habit to frequent garage sales for cookie jars in the past, there's no telling what may have been in past garage-sale jars she's purchased and used as cookie jars in the past  :squeez: !

Salaamun Alaikum,

I write a little, I wanted to know your thoughts. Please be brutally honest.

Abbas

sacrifice.

think about that word

a little girl, she's just 4 years old

her uncle is a great warrior

her uncle is tall and strong and brave

but today, he must do what he's told

Abbas, can you go fetch some water

look, the children are so thirsty

don't take your sword

he says nothing.

for a moment

Abbas looks at the ground

he goes to his niece

Sakina, i must go fetch some water

the sun stares from a cloudless sky

it knows today people will die

the sweet water of the Euphrates

half a mile away

you can hear women and children

they are very, very thirsty

Abbas is on his horse

he holds a waterskin on one hand

a lance on the other

the enemy will try to deny him water

it does not matter

i must get water for my little Sakina

he says to himself

whatever happens, i must get her water

Sakina is so confident! look at her!

look, my uncle Abbas is going to get water!

when he comes back

Ali Asgher should drink first

Ali asgher is her brother

he is only a few months old

Abbas! brave, strong Abbas! look at him go!

the enemy is so scared of him

at last he fills the waterskin

he turns around

my little Sakina is going to get water

my little Sakina is going to get water

the enemy strikes.

Abbas's right hand is chopped off.

it doesn't matter, i can hold the waterskin with my left hand.

the enemy strikes.

Abbas's left hand is chopped off.

it doesn't matter, i will hold the waterskin with my teeth.

the enemy strikes.

an arrow in his eye

another one pierces the waterskin

sweet water falls to the floor

how can i face Sakina, he thinks

abbas has no hope of returning anymore

he falls to the floor

but look, he is crawling to the Euphrates

Sakina's uncle is so brave

Aqa sees his brother fall

he runs to Abbas

Abbas dies in his arms

Sakina is so confident her uncle will return

look! i see him! my uncle is coming back!

but it is not her uncle.

it is not Abbas.

Sakina is never going to see Abbas again.

to the layman

to the layman

the hunger must be satiated

to the mystic

the only way to fill one's stomach

is to deprive it

to the atheist

the world only exists to cease to exist

to the mystic

the world glorifies its Creator

and when it ceases to exist

it is because its praise for the Divine has been rewarded

heart, what do you desire

shell! you should not ask me what i desire

rather, ask me who i desire

for no material object will satisfy

my desire for the Infinite

when you receive a guest

you must give him a sweet drink

similarly,

when God receives you

He gives you a cup of His love

my Lord, i beg You to receive me

just as You received a humble slave named Khomeini

I have no/little interest in the Bionic Woman [Edited Out], but the producer's profile is what interests me most. He's rom Karachi, graduated in comparative religions (and business, and law!!), and has written fiction with islamic themes. He was behind 'Sleeper cell', I didn't watch it, but hopefully he gave a sense of balance to the story, that a non muslim writer wouldn't have the motivation to do..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kamran_Pasha

Kamran Pasha is a Hollywood screenwriter, director and novelist. He currently serves as a producer and writer on NBC's Bionic Woman.[1] Previously, he served as a co-producer and writer for Sleeper Cell, Showtime Network's terrorism drama.[2] Sleeper Cell was nominated for the Golden Globe for Best Miniseries in 2005[3] and for an Emmy for Best Miniseries in 2006.[4]

Pasha sold his first two novels to Simon & Schuster in 2007. The books are entitled Mother of the Believers, a historical epic that follows the birth of Islam from the eyes of Prophet Muhammad's teenage wife Aisha, and Shadow of the Swords, a love story set amidst the showdown of Richard the Lionheart and Saladin during the Third Crusade.[5]

LOL, how funny. Since in many of the episodes....... the terrorists were supposedly muslims. There was this one scene, they supposedly caught the crook who had the bomb, they were asking him who he worked for... and suddenly he recited al-fatihah out of nowhere....... instead of answering their questions......

also one episode.... they were in some south american country (where muslims are almost non existant) the mexican lookings terrorist jumped around saying Allah Akbar............

   is that weird or what

if you are talking BW, he didnt write the screenplay. he did lend his skills to 'sleeper cell' though. I have no clue how balanced he was.

so what should we do ?

you need me to tell you?
