(salam)

(bismillah)

In the name of Allah the Compassion, the Merciful

The Shining Sun

Imam Hassan al-Askari (pbuh) was martyred on Friday, the eighth of Rabi al-Awwal, year 260 A.D. after the Fajr (morning) prayer. Scholars like Ibn al- Babeweyh have said the Imam was poisoned by Mu’tamed al-Abassi. Abu Sahl narrates:

I was with Imam al-Askari (pbuh) when he told his servant to boil some water. Once it was ready, Imam al-Mahdi’s (pbuh) mother brought it to him. As she handed the bowl of hot water to Imam al-Askari (pbuh), his hands began shaking and the bowl hit his front teeth. Then the Imam (pbuh) put the bowl down on the ground and told his servant: “go to that room and you will see a child prostrating, bring him to me.”

The Imam’s servant said, “I entered the room; I saw a child prostrating and his index finger was pointed toward the sky. I greeted the respectable child, he replied, and shortened his prayer. When he was done with his prayer, I told him that Imam Hassan al-Askari is waiting for you. At the same time his mother entered the room, held his hand, and took him to the Imam.”

When the child arrived, he greeted the Imam. I looked at him and noticed that his face has a glowing shine, his hair is curled up, and there is a space in between his teeth. As soon as Imam looked at his son, he started weeping and said: “Oh the descendant of the Prophet, give me some water. Indeed I will be returning to Allah (SWT).”

The child held the bowl in his hands, gave some water to his father, and quenched his thirst. Imam al-Askari (pbuh) then said to his child: “My son, glad tidings to you; that you are the Mahdi, and the Hujjat of Allah (SWT) on earth. You are my son, my successor, and I am your father. You are Muhammad ibn al-Hassan ibn Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Mousa ibn Ja’far ibn Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Hussain ibn Ali ibn Abitalib (pbuh), and your great grandfather is the Messenger of Allah (SWT). You are the last Imam from the descendant of the household of the Prophet (pbuh&HP), and your name is like the name of the Prophet of Islam. This is a promise to me from my father and from my pure ancestors...”

Shortly after Imam al-Askari (pbuh) was martyred.

(Taken from the book “al-Ghiba”, written by Shaikh Toosi, p. 253)

And that is how the Imam al-Mahdi (May Allah Hasten his Appearance) by the power of Allah (SWT) was appointed the Imam of the time in his childhood, similar to how Prophet Yahya (pbuh) and Prophet Isa (pbuh) were appointed as prophets. As mentioned in the Holy Quran, Prophet Yahya (PUBH) and Prophet Isa (PUBH) were appointed to prophet hood in their childhood. Even though Imam Mahdi (pbuh) went into occultation by the order of Allah (SWT) after the martyrdom of his father; yet his father Imam al-Askari told his ummah and followers about Imam Mahdi (pbuh) before his Ghiba-occultation.

On behalf of the Roshd website, we pay our condolences on the 8th of Rabi al-Awwal for the martyrdom of the manifestation of purity, Imam Hassan al-Askari, to his blessed son Imam Mahdi (pbuh) and to the Muslim Umma.

BIRTH:- 8th RABBI US SANI 232 A.H

DEATH:- 8tH RABBI UL AWAL 260A.H

The holy Imam gained the imamate after the death of this noble father , through the devine command and through the decree of the previous imams,During the seven yearsof his imamate ,due to untold restrictions placed upon him by the king, he lived hiding and dissimulation. He did not have any social contact with even the common people among shia populations.Only Elite of the shia;s were able to see him. Even so he spent most of his time in prison.

There was extreme repression at that time because the shia population had reached a considerable level in both in number and power.Everyone knew that the shia belived in the imamate and the identity of shia imam was also known. Therefore , the kings(chilph)kept the imam under close supervision more tham ever before it tried through every possible means and through secrets plans to remove and destroy them .Also the calphate had come to know that shia belived that eleventh according to tradition cited by him as well as by the forefathers would have son who was promised Mehdi The coming of the Mehdi had been foretold in authenticated hadith of both shia and sunni scholars,For this reason the eleventh Imam more than other Imam was kept under close watch by the Caliphate. The caliph of the time had decided definatly to put an end to the imamate in shiaism through every possible means and to close doors to the imamate once and for all.

Therefore as soon as the news od the illness of eleventh imam reached al-mutamid , he sent physician and few of his trusted agents and judges to the house of the imam to be with him and observe his condition and the situation within his house at all times. After the death of the Imam they had house investgated and all the females were checked by the midwife. For two years the secret agents of the caliph searched for Imam Mehdi but all their search didnot help them .untill they lost hope

Traditions from Imam Hasan Askari (as)

Do not dispute (with others) lest you will lose splendor and do not joke (with everyone) lest you will be disrespected.

To greet everyone you pass by and to sit in a place other than the first class of a session are signs of modesty.

Reasonless laughter is a sign of ignorance.

Anger is the key to all evil.

The worst servants of Allah are those who are two faced and two tobgued; they praise their friends and backbite the absent. They envy them for obtaining graces and disappoint them when they suffer a misfortune.

The least comfortable of people is the spiteful.

The heart of a foolish is in his mouth and the mouth of the wise is in his heart.

To show happiness before the grieved is not a sign of good mannerism.

It is very ugly for a believer to follow a passion that causes him humiliation.

Modest is an unenviable favor.

11th Imam - Imam Hasan ibn Ali (al-Askari)

Name: al-Hasan

Father's Name: Ali ibne Mohammad

Mother's Name: Umm al-Walad - Susan

Kunyah (Patronymic): Abu Mohammad

Title: al-Askari

Date/Place of Birth: 8th Rabi as-Sani, 232 AH. 12/3/846 A.D. at Madinah

(or 24 Rabi al-Awwal)

Date of Death/Martyrdom: 8th Rabi al-Awwal, 260 AH., Fri 1/1/874 A.D

at Samarra, Iraq

Age: 28

Cause of Martyrdom: Poison

Place of Burial: Samarra', Iraq

Imam Hasan al-Askari's (as) life from childhood to adulthood was spent in this house where his father Imam Ali an-Naqi (as) was to remain under house arrest. But despite this close guard on the Imam, he conducted his duties as Imam from inside the house. He taught people Qur'an and instructed his followers the true teachings of Islam as taught by the Prophet of Islam and his Ahl al-Bayt. In fact Imam Hasan al-Askari wrote a complete Tafsir of the Qur'an which was mentioned by many scholars, historians and exegetes, including Kolayni and Sadouq.

In the six years of his Imamate several attempts were made on his life. On the 1st of Rabi al-Awwal 260 AH. Mo'tamed arranged for Imam to be poisoned in prison and then sent him home. Imam was in great pain and difficulty for 8 days. On the 8th of Rabi al-Awwal he asked his son, the 12th Imam, to bring him some water and then leave him. He died that day and was given ghosl and kafan by his son, the 12th Imam.

The funeral prayers were led by the 12th Imam and it was then that a lot of Shiah's saw him for the first time. A large number of people attended the funeral and he is buried in Samarra.

Our Eleventh Imam was buried in the same house where he had died, by the side of his father Imam Ali an-Naqi (as). By the passage of time, the place was transformed into a great mausoleum and pilgrims from all over the Islamic lands came to pay their homage to the two Imams of Ahl al-Bayt who were buried there. It was 8th Rabi al-Awwal 260 Hijri when our Twelfth Imam led the

funeral prayer of his father Imam Hasan al-Askari (as). He was only Five years old, yet the whole crowd of Muslims including the Abbasid Khalifah of that time al-Mo'tamed followed the young Imam without question. Once the prayers were over and the Imam went inside the house, that the Khalifah realised the full implication and significance of the occasion and he immediately ordered his soldiers to enter the house and search for the young Imam. They did not find any one inside the house. The Khalifah was very angry at this incompetence of ministers and other officials who were unable to find a boy of five who had just led the prayers and had just disappeared. The Khalifah had no inkling of the secrets that God did not want to reveal. He went back to his palace and into the luxurious life of a playboy king while the world around him squeezed his empire into oblivion. The Imam's period of lesser concealment began immediately after he led the funeral prayers and disappeared inside the house. This was in the year 260 Hijri.

Imam Hasan al-Askari

Imam Hasan al-Askari (as), the Son of the 10th Imam, was born in 232 AH, and martyred by Mo'tamed, the Abbasid caliph (according to some Shiah narrations). Imam Hasan al-Askari (as) was selected as the Muslims' Imam after the death of his honourable father.

The period of his Imamate was about 7 years. For the pressure of Abbasid caliphs, Imam tried not to have any relation with people, except some of his friends.

The reasons of this severe pressure were: first, at that time the number and the power of Shiah groups were increased.

Second, the acceptance of Imamte by Shiah was clear for everyone. Third, Shiah Imams would be recognized, and would be killed by Abbasid caliphs.

The Caliphs knew that the 11th Imam had a son (according to some narrations) who was Mahdi (May God hasten his glad advent).

Therefore Abbasid caliphs controlled the 11th Imam, more than other Imams. They decided to put an end to Imamate of the Shiah and close it forever. So, when Mo'tamed was informed that the 11th Imam was sick, he sent a doctor to him and also sent some of his close friends and judges to visit him and always controlled Imam to be aware of what was happening in his home.

After the martyrdom of the Imam, the caliph's officers tried to find his son but they became hopeless. After his death, Imam was burried in his house besides his honorable father's grave in Samarra.

The Father of our Twelfth Imam, Mohammad al-Mahdi al-Qaem,

Imam Hasan al-‘Askari (as), a brief look into his life

Name: Hasan

Title: al-‘Askari

Kunyah: Abu Muhammad

Birth: tenth Rabi’ al-Aakher 232 AH in Madinah.

Mother: Lady Sulayl (or Hudaythah).

Father: Imam ‘Ali an-Naqi (as)

Death: eighth Rabi’ al-Awwal 260 AH in Samarra

Buried: In Samarra

Birth and Childhood:

When he was born his father said that it was an order from the Prophet (S) that he should be named Hasan. It was so well known that the last Imams father would be called Hasan that people had previously looked for the twelfth Imam amongst the sons of Imam Hasan al-Mujtaba (as)

His mother was Sulayl (or Hudaythah) who was a slave of the tenth Imam whom he had freed and subsequently married. The tenth Imam said of her that she was one who was free from all vice and pollution and that she was one of the righteous ones. After the eleventh Imam’s martyrdom he left all the “orders” of Imamate with her (his mother).

Once when Imam Hasan al-‘Askari (as) was a young child he fell into a well near their house. His father Imam ‘Ali an-Naqi (as) was praying and didn’t even notice the commotion around him of the ladies crying. When he finished praying and asked what had happened, he was told. He went towards the well. The water rose and all saw the eleventh Imam sitting peacefully on the water and playing.

Bahloul once saw the young Imam crying in the street where all the other children were busy playing with their toys. He asked whether Imam was crying because he had no toys to play with. Imam replied: “We have not been created to play!”

Bahloul asked where he had learnt his from and the Imam said:

“Have you not read the Quran where it says - “Do you think we have created you in vain and that you will not be returned to us.”

When Bahloul heard this he asked Imam for some advice. Imam talked about death, barzakh and the Day of Judgement and cried so much, he fainted. When he came to, Bahloul asked him why he was so fearful as he was not even balegh yet. Imam said:

“I have watched my mother light a fire; she uses the little twigs to get the big pieces of wood to burn; I fear that on the Day of Judgement Allah too will use little ones to light the big ones.”

Title: al-‘Askari:

The tenth and eleventh Imamayn were both called al-‘Askari as they lived in an area of Samarra called ‘Askari.

Another reason that the eleventh Imam was called al-‘Askari is said to be that once Motawakkel wanted to show the Imam the strength of his army of 90,000 men and so he asked his men to fill their sacks with sand and pile all the sacks up. He then showed Imam this mountain of sacks. Imam asked Motawakkel, to look through his (Imam’s) two fingers, where he saw an army of armed Angels. Imam told him that they were at his disposal but he would not use them. (an army is called ‘Askari).

Life and Works:

Ahmad ibn Ishaq relates that when he heard of the death of the tenth Imam he went to Samarra and asked for the whereabouts of the eleventh Imam. He was told that Imam had been imprisoned by Mo’taz Billah. After bribing the guards he was able to visit Imam one night. He described the prison as a tunnel under the Caliph’s home where there was no space to stretch ones legs nor room to be able to stand. Ahmad says he cried when he saw Imams condition. Food was only one glass of water and a piece of dry bread a day.

He was imprisoned because all the rulers knew of the justice that was promised to come with the coming of the twelfth Imam and they wished to prevent anyone being born of the eleventh Imam.

Whilst in prison he told his companions to accumulate all the laws of feqh and he completed the laws on the chapters that were found missing. He introduced the institution of “taqlid” advising people to follow those who were learned, “Mottaqi,” and just, as he was in prison and it was extremely difficult for people to meet him. Khums was collected through his representative and laws too asked to him, Abu Ja’far ‘Uthman ibn Sa’id, who was later to become the representative of the twelfth Imam.

There was once a severe drought in Samarra and a Christian priest came who whenever he raised his hands caused rain to fall from the heavens. The Muslims faith started wavering and the Caliph Mo’taz Billah got worried for if they left Islam he would have none to rule over.

He went to the eleventh Imam saying that Imam’s grandfathers religion was in trouble. Imam asked him to call all the people outside Samarra with the Christian priest. He asked the Christian priest to pray for rain. When he raised his hands to pray it started to rain. Imam asked for whatever was in this hands to be taken away and then asked him to pray for rain again. There was no rain this time. Imam showed that what the priest had in this hand was the bone of a Prophet which whenever placed under the open sky caused it to rain.

Imam then prayed for rain and it rained. Mo’taz could not re imprison Imam for some time for when the people saw the miracle they all wanted to visit Imam and asked where they might find him. Imam pointed to the Caliph and asked them to ask him. Mo’taz told them that Imam was staying at the house where the tenth Imam used to reside.

Lady Narjes was there and it was in that year that the twelfth Imam was born. Imam was allowed out of prison for 13 months after which he was rearrested.

Martyrdom:

In the six years of his Imamate several attempts were made on his life. On the first of Rabi’ al-Awwal 260 AH, Mo’tamed arranged for Imam to be poisoned in prison and then sent him home. Imam was in great pain and difficulty for eight days. On the eighth of Rabi’ al-Awwal he asked his son, the twelfth Imam, to bring him some water and then leave him. He died that day and was given ablution (ghusl) and shrouding (kafn) by his son, the twelfth Imam.

Burial:

The funeral prayers were led by the twelfth Imam and it was then that a lot of Shi’ah saw him for the first time. A large number of people attended the funeral and he is buried in Samarra.

Additional Notes:

1) Isma’il narrates the following:

“Once I sitting on the path waiting for the Imam (as) to pass by and when he did, I started complaining of my difficulties and asked him for some financial help.”

The Imam (as) said,

“You swear by God falsely, because you have already buried one hundred dinars as a saving. What I say is not to deny you financial help. Boys, give him all the money with you.”

He was well-known to the Christians as having all the human perfections like the Holy Prophet Jesus (as) had.

The Imam (as) would worship God a lot and his personality was quite majestic

2) The eleventh Imam was once asked of the signs of a believer. He listed the following signs.

He is one prays 51 raka’at of salat daily.

He prostates on Khak ash-Shefaa.

He wears rings on his right hand.

He repeats the verses of Adhan and ‘Iqamah.

He recites “Bismillah” loudly in salat.

He prays his Fajr salat before the stars disappear and his Dhuhr prayers before the sun starts to decline.

He recites Qunout in salat.

He dyes his hair and beard.

He recites five takbirs in Salat al-Mayyet.

Imam Hasan al-‘Askari (as) has said:

“Fear God, be as adornment on behalf of us and be not as shame that defames our name. This is the only way by which others shall be attracted toward us (the Ahlul-Bayt of the Holy Prophet (pbuh).”

Shahadat of the Eleventh Imam Hasan al-‘Askari (as) - 8th Rabi’ al-Awwal/March 6, 2009

Name: Hasan

Title: al-‘Askari

Designation: Eleventh Imam

Kunyah: Abu Muhammad

Father: 10th Imam ‘Ali an-Naqi (as)

Mother: Salil/Hadithah Khatoun

Born: 8 Rabi’ al-Thani, 232 AH (846 AD)

Died: 8 Rabi’ al-Awwal, 260 AH (874 AD)

Lived: 28 Years

Martyred: Poisoned by Mo’tamed

Buried: Samarra, Iraq

Period of Imamat: 6 Years

Samarra was a garrison town about 60 miles north of Baghdad. River Euphrates flows in the middle of the town, and because of the surrounding hills a cool breeze keeps the area cooler in comparison to Baghdad. The word “‘Askar” in Arabic is used for army. Our Eleventh Imam’s title became known as ‘Askari, the one who lived all his life in a garrison town

In spite of the fact that the Imam had never given any cause for concern to the Caliphs of his time, their guilt in this matter was so great that they did not leave these pious personalities in peace. If they had no fear of their throne they were afraid of the excellence and knowledge of the Imams. In the case of Imam Hasan al-‘Askari, the same type of jealousy led to the poisoning of the Imam to end this life of a saint whose only activity was to teach Quran as the Prophet and his Ahlul-Bayt taught before him. During the rule of al-Mo’tamed poison was given to the Imam mixed in some fruit and he died on 8th Rabi al-Awwal 260 Hejri. He left only one son, whose name was Muhammad who was only five years old when his father died.

During the rule of al-Mo’tamed poison was given to the Imam mixed in some fruit and he died on 8th Rabi al-Awwal 260 Hejri. He left only one son, whose name was Muhammad who was only five years old when his father died.

The Caliph al-Mo’tamed himself attended the funeral prayer. When they all lined up and were ready to commence the prayers, Imam Hasan al-‘Askari’s brother Ja’far stood in front of the people to lead the prayer. Before he could commence the prayer, a five year old boy came out of the house, went near his uncle. Shook his mantle and told him, “Set aside uncle, only an Imam can lead the funeral prayer of an Imam.” His uncle Ja’far stepped aside and this five year old boy lead the prayers. Immediately after the end of the prayer he went inside his house and was not seen by his pursuers, lead by the caliph Mo’tamed himself.

Our Eleventh Imam was buried in the same house where he had died, by the side of his father Imam ‘Ali an-Naqi (as). By the passage of time, the place was transformed into a great mausoleum and pilgrims from all over the Islamic lands came to pay their homage to the two Imams of Ahlul-Bayt who were buried there.

On this tragic and sad occasion we extend our Heartfelt Condolences to all the lovers of Holy Ahlul-Bayt (as) and to our present Imam, Imam al-Mahdi (May God Hasten His Appearance). We also pray that the shrines in Samarra are rebuilt and that we get the special invitation for Ziyarat.

Imam Hasan al-‘Askari (AS): The Eleventh Holy Imam

Name: Hasan

Title: al-‘Askari

Kunyah: Abu Muhammad

Born: at Madinah on Monday, 8th Rabi’ al-Aakher 232 AH

Father’s name: Imam ‘Ali an-Naqi al-Hadi (AS)

Mother’s Name: Salil

Martyred: at the age of 28 years at Samarra (Iraq), on Friday, 8th Rabi’ al-Awwal 260 AH poisoned by Mo’tamed, the ‘Abbasid caliph.

Buried: at Samarra (Iraq).

Imam Hasan al-‘Askari was born in Madinah, on 8th day of the month of Rabi’ ath-Thani, in the year 232 AH He was called “al-‘Askari” in connection with the district of ‘Askar in the city of Samarra in which he (the Imam) and his father, Imam ‘Ali an-Naqi al-Hadi (AS) were imprisoned by the ‘Abbasid caliphs. The holy Imam (AS) was born and brought up under the care of his father, Imam ‘Ali al-Hadi (AS), who was well-known for his divinely inspired knowledge, holy striving (jehad) and good acts and from him he learned the best of morals, the abundance of knowledge, the spirit of belief and the good merits of Ahlul-Bayt (AS).

Indeed, he (the Holy Imam) (AS) accompanied his holy father and lived whit him more that twenty three years, during which time he comprehended the sciences of the descendants of Holy Prophet Muhammad (S) and learned the inheritance of the divine leadership. He looked like his fathers in the fields of knowledge, good deeds, jehad, and calling to reform in the community of his holy grandfather, Prophet Muhammad (S).

Various narrations are given concerning the leadership of Imam al-‘Askari (AS) and the issue of his leadership appeared during the period of his holy father, Imam ‘Ali al-Hadi (AS).

Shaykh Mufid narrated the following:

“On the authority of Abu Bakr Fahfaki, who said: ‘Abul-Hasan (al-Hadi), peace be on him, wrote me (i.e. Abu Bakr Fahfaki): ‘Abu Muhammad, my son, is the soundest of the family of Muhammad (S) in excellence and the firmest of them in proof. He is the eldest of my (surviving) sons. He is the successor. To him, end, the bonds of leadership (Imamate) and our laws. Whatever you used to ask me about ask him. With him, you find what you are in need of.”

After his reverend father, the Holy Imam (AS) undertook the task of leadership “Imamate.” His succession lasted about six years, and, in which, he practised different kinds of political and scholarly responsibilities as his divinely appointed forefathers accurately and efficiently did.

The Noble Character of Imam al-‘Askari (AS)

Indeed, Imam al-‘Askari (AS), like his noble fathers, was a prominent scholar and an Imam whom no one could ignore. He (AS) was the chief of religious scholars, an ideal of worshippers, a leader of politics and opposition, and towards whom the hearts of people were adhered with love and respect. Despite the existence of the brutal terrorism of the ‘Abbasid rule, and their political hostility towards Ahlul-Bayt (AS), and the continuous pursuit of authorities for him and his followers, and throwing them in prisons and jails, the caliphs of his time could not hide his personality or weaken his scientific and political role and his social status. Thus, the spiritual authority of the Holy Imam (AS) was imposed upon the rulers and the opponents of his time. Ahmad ibn ‘Abdullah ibn Khaqan, being an opponent of Imam al-‘Askari (AS), narrated a full description about his social and political status and position: ibn Shahr Ashoub said:

“Husayn ibn Muhammad Ash’ari and Muhammad ibn ‘Ali said: During his assembly one day the Shi’ah and their beliefs were mentioned. Ahmad ibn ‘Abdullah ibn Khaqan was in charge of estates and the land tax in Qom. He was the severe enemy of the descendants of ‘Ali ibn Abi Taleb (AS), who said: ‘I had not seen a man from the Sayyeds like al-Hasan ibn ‘Ali ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Ali ar-Ridha (AS). Once, the Imam’s servant visited my father and said: Abu Muhammad ibn ar-Ridha is standing at the door. Therefore, he permitted them to enter, and welcomed him (the Imam). Then, the Caliph made him sit down in his oratory (place of Prayer) and started to talk with him and asked for sacrifice of himself for the Imam.

When the Imam wanted to leave, he (my father) bid farewell to him. Then, I asked my father about him (the Imam) and he replied: ‘I my son! This is the Imam (leader) of the Shi’ah and if the office of leadership was to be taken from our caliphs i.e. the family of al-‘Abbas, no one among the family of Bani Hashem would be more entitled to it than him (the Imam) because of his great merit, his self restraint, his modesty, his fasting, his prayer, his asceticism, his devotion (to God), and all of his high morals and his righteousness.’ “Indeed, I always asked about him, they glorified him and mentioned his charismas. He added saying: ‘I have never seen anyone who is more plentiful in knowledge and manner, nor sweet in tongue than Hasan al-‘Askari (AS).

Because of the Holy Imam’s great status, political position and his standing at the top of political opposition at that time, the, then, authorities not only imposed a house arrest on him, but, also forced him to attend the office of the caliphate on Mondays and Thursdays every week in the city of Samarra, the military garrison capital city of ‘Abbasid administration.

In this regard, one of the companions of the Holy Imam (AS) said:

“We held a meeting in the district of “al-‘Askar,” then, we waited for the day of Abu Muhammad’s (the Holy Imam) going by, instead, he (AS) sent a letter in which he wrote the following: ‘No one should greet me, nor refer to me with his hand nor gestures, because you would not secure yourselves.”

The great position of the Imam (AS) can be shown by the following historical document in which he describes the people’s conditions during the Holy Imam’s martyrdom:

“When the news of his (the Holy Imam) martyrdom was spread, Samarra became on uproar. The markets were empty. Bani (the family) Hashem, the military leaders, the secretaries, the judges, the attestators and the rest of the people rode to his funeral. On that day, Samarra looked like the (day of) Resurrection.”

I would like to add here that

We have to prayer/dua and try or struggle on our self to become true follower of Masomeem (as) (haqiqi janisar)

GOD forbid; it will not happen again, that was happening in the life of all Masomeen (as) during that 250 Years that a part from very very few peoples from the Muslim Umaha nobody was ready to defend Imams(AS),

Insallha, when Imam-e-Zaman(AS) re-appears there will be many many peoples who are ready to scarifies each and everything to defend the Imam and his noble and holy goal

One of the major responsibilities of Imam Hasan al-’Askari (as), for which he endeavoured earnestly, was to introduce the Imam after him to the Shi’ah and to inform them of the next Imam’s occultation. At the time, the Abbasid dynasty, having had heard the words of the previous Imams (as) and those of Prophets’ (as) about the saviour that would be born to Imam Hasan al-’Askari (as), were in close watch of Imam Hasan’s (as) residency to make sure he would not have a son. Thereupon, Imam Hasan al-’Askari (as) had to hide his son from the guards sent by the government and in that manner save his son’s life.

After the martyrdom of Imam Hasan al-’Askari (as), Imam Mahdi (as) went into the periods of his short and long occultation, whereupon most Shi’ah were deprived from seeing their Imam. Upon this matter, at the time of Imam al-’Askari (as) it was necessary to introduce Imam Mahdi (as) to certain Shi’ah, and clarify his processes of occultation. Many narrations have been recorded on this matter, but in this excerpt we will refer to only one.

Ahmad ibn Ishaq, one of the reliable companions of Imam Hasan al-’Askari (as), has narrated: “In one of my visits to the Imam, I had intended to ask about his successor. Yet before I had spoken, the Imam (as) said: ‘Oh Ahmad ibn Ishaq! From the creation of Adam, God (SWT) has never left the earth without His successor on people, and will never do so until the Day of Judgement… ‘I asked: ‘Oh son of the messenger of God! So who is the successor and Imam after you?’

Imam al-’Askari (as) stood up immediately, and entered the house. He then returned carrying a three year old boy, whose face was filled with a halo of light. He said: ‘Oh Ahmad! If it were not for your eminence in the eyes of Almighty God and His chosen people, I would not have shown you my child. His name and nickname are the same as that of Prophet Muhammad’s (S.A.W.W.); and it is he who will fill the earth with justice after it has been corrupted with oppression…By God (SWT)! He will live through a long occultation from which people will not survive perdition and deviation, except for those who stand firm on believing in his Imamate, and those who are honoured with the opportunity to pray for haste in his reappearance.”

Ahmad ibn Ishaq narrates: “the minute I asked Imam al-’Askari (as): ‘Will any sign or miracle appear to make me confident?’ the child began speaking: ‘I am the remainder of God (Baqiyatullah) on earth; the one who will take revenge on the enemies of God; and after seeing me, do not search for any other signs!”…

So true. I notice people will often argue something not because of they disagree with the reasoning of it, but because they are intimidated and frightened or jealous that someone else should obtain the truth without them.

Imam al-Askari(A.S.) answered the man who reported to him the disagreement of Shias: Allah has addressed to the intelligent exclusively. People are of different classes: some are the discerning on a way of salvation; they are holding fast to the right and clinging to the branch of the origin; they are neither doubtful not suspicious; they do not consider a shelter other than me. Some are those who have not received the right from its very people; they are like those who embarked on a ship; they ripple when the sea is wavy and calm down when the sea is calm. Some are those who are dominated by the Shaitan; their one and only job is to refute the people of the right and substitute the wrong for the right out of envy. Hence, leave those who went astray to the right and left. When a shepherd wants to gather the hoard, he will not need to exert efforts for so. Beware of divulging our secrets and seeking power, for these two things drive into perdition.

Yes, you are correct. Here is the Arabic to the hadeeth.

Bro the author was a sahabi of imam a.s. he took most of the ahadees from imam a.s directly so he did not feel necessary to provide the chains for ahadees which were not directly from rest of the imams a.s

Even if someone beliefs in ilm e rijaal he can't ignore the ahadees from imam askari a.s as he was directly quoting them without anyone in between and what he wrote about the authenticity of his book is very very interesting,

Ya Ali Madad

Where are you getting that he heard from the 11th Imaam directly? The only information that is about him is that he narrates from Aboo `Alee Muhammad bin Hammaam (d. 336), and al-Mufeed (d. 413) narrates from him. According to Agha Buzurg al-Tehraani, al-Harraani died in the year 381.

Just because he lived at the time of the 11th Imaam, you cannot assume that he narrates from the 11th Imaam directly. One example, is Hammaad bin `Eesa is said to be the companion of the 6th Imaam, but majority of his hadeeth he narrates from 2-3 people in order to get it from the 6th Imaam.

I have looked through al-Tehrani's al-Dharee`ah, Muhaddith's Noori's Khaatimah al-Mustadarak, Hurr al-`Aamili's Amal al-Amul, and Ja`far Subhaani's, Mawsoo`ah al-Tabaqaat al-Fuquha. And none of them say he was a companion of the 11th Imaam, and that he heard any hadeeth from the Imaam directly.

Therefore, this hadeeth would be considered mursal.

I didn't know that Sunnis considered al-Mutawakkil a great ruler, huh

Yep . Reviver of Sunnah and killer of Bid'ahh. They are very fond of him. You see, these biographies are all about imams. They are not about the political atmosphere around them. I find that to be one of the shia deficiencies in writing History,

Of course we should do all efforts to preserve the history of the imams and the events that happened in their lives. But sometimes when their surroundings are ambiguous, it is hard to understand their actions.

Imam Hassan Al Askari (as)

Generosity has a limit, which when crossed becomes extravagance.
* Caution has a limit which when crossed becomes cowardice.
Thriftiness has a limit, which when crossed becomes miserliness.
* Courage has a limit, which when crossed becomes fool-hardiness.

Imam Hasan al-`Askari [a] narrated that the Prophet Muhammad said,

"When Allah created Adam and Eve, they strut through the Garden and said, 'Allah did not create anything better than us.' So the form of a young lady appeared to them, and no seer had seen anything better (more beautiful) than her. She had a brilliant light that blinded sights. She had a crown upon her head, and earrings in her ears.

They asked, 'O Lord, who is this young lady?'

Allah said, 'This is the form of Fatima, the daughter of Muhammad, the mistress of your descendants.'

So Adam asked, 'What is this crown upon her head?'

Allah said, 'This is her husband, `Ali b. Abi Talib.'

Adam asked, 'What are these earrings?'

Allah said, 'Her sons, al-Hasan and al-Husayn. They were present as shadows two thousand years before I created you.'
