A psalm of David. (140)

1 Rescue me, Lord, from evildoers;

protect me from the violent,

2 who devise evil plans in their hearts

and stir up war every day.

3 They make their tongues as sharp as a serpent’s;

the poison of vipers is on their lips.

4 Keep me safe, Lord, from the hands of the wicked;

protect me from the violent,

who devise ways to trip my feet.

5 The arrogant have hidden a snare for me;

they have spread out the cords of their net

and have set traps for me along my path.

6 I say to the Lord, “You are my God.”

Hear, Lord, my cry for mercy.

7 Sovereign Lord, my strong deliverer,

you shield my head in the day of battle.

8 Do not grant the wicked their desires, Lord;

do not let their plans succeed.

9 Those who surround me proudly rear their heads;

may the mischief of their lips engulf them.

10 May burning coals fall on them;

may they be thrown into the fire,

into miry pits, never to rise.

11 May slanderers not be established in the land;

may disaster hunt down the violent.

12 I know that the Lord secures justice for the poor

and upholds the cause of the needy.

13 Surely the righteous will praise your name,

and the upright will live in your presence.

Through the same chain of narrators as that of the previous Hadith from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Qasim ibn Yahya from his

grandfather, al-Hassan ibn Rashid from abu Basir who has said the following:

“Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, once said to me, ‘When anyone of you likes to get married, what does he need to do?’ I replied, ‘I do not know.’ The Imam then said, ‘When one of you has such intention, he should first perform two Rak‘at Salat (prayer) and praise Allah. Thereafter, say, “O Allah, I like to become married. Determine for me of women the most protective of her privacy, the most chaste in conjugal matters, protective of myself and my property and of a vast share of sustenance, of the greatest in blessing, and determine for me a fine son who will succeed me as a virtuous one in my lifetime and when I die.”’”

Muhammad ibn `Isma‘il has narrated from al-Fadl ibn Shadhan from Safwan ibn Yahya from ibn Muskan from Muhammad ibn Ali

al-Halabiy who has said the following:

“A man complained before abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, against his poverty and deprivation in business after being affluent and that in whatever way he moves to make a living, he faces difficulties. Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, commanded him to go to the special place of the Messenger of Allah which is between his grave and pulpit. ‘Perform two Rak‘at Salat (prayer) there and say, one hundred times, ‘O Lord, I appeal to You through Your power, Your determination, Your majesty and through whatever Your knowledge has encompassed, please facilitate my business and increase it for my sustenance in a way that is better and of good consequences.’ The man has said that thereafter in whichever way I moved for business Allah granted me benefits.”

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn Khalid from al-Nadr ibn al-Suwayd from Yahya al-Halabiy from ‘Amr ibn Hurayth who has said the following:

“Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘Perform two Rak‘at Salat (prayer) and ask Allah to chose for you what is good. By Allah, if a Muslim asks Allah to choose for him what is good, He certainly chooses for him as such.’”

The House of Fatema Zahra (sa) .... The Hijaab of Allah

From" Kitab al-Turf" of Sayed ibn Taoos quoting from Kitab al-Wassiyah of Shaikh Isa bin al-Mustafaad al-Zareer from Imam Musa bin Jafar al-Kazim (as) from his Father (as):

"When Prophet Mohammad (saww) was about to die, He called the Ansaar's and said, ... "Indeed the door of Fatema (sa) is My door, and Her house is My house. So whoever disgraces it has disgraced the Hijaab (veil/covering) of Allah."

The narrator Isa then says, "Abu al-Hasan Imam Kazim (as) then cried for long and cut of rest of his speech and said, "By Allah the Hijaab of Allah was disgraced, By Allah the Hijaab of Allah was disgraced, By Allah the Hijaab of Allah was disgraced, O My Mother (sa)..."

The following 2 narrations clearly prove that we can and should seek protection of the Prophet (saww) in the form of a dua as taught by the AhlulBait (as):

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from certain individuals of his people from Mufaddal ibn ‘Umar who has said the following:

"Abu Abd-Allah Imam Sadiq (as), said to me, "If you can, do not go to sleep without seeking protection with eleven letters."
I then asked, "What are they?" The Imam told me to say, "I seek protection with the majesty of Allah, I seek protection with the power of Allah, I seek protection with the glory of Allah, I seek protection with the authority of Allah, I seek protection with the beauty of Allah, I seek protection with the defense of Allah, I seek protection with the prevention of Allah, I seek protection with the community of Allah, I seek protection with the possession of Allah, I seek protection with the face of Allah, I seek protection with the Messenger of Allah against the evil of whatever He has created, spread and settled."
The Imam said, "You may seek protection with these letters whenever you like."

[source: al-Kafi, Vol. 2, Pg. 537-538, Chapter - 'Prayer before sleeping and after waking up', Hadees. 9]

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ibn abu Umayr from Ibrahim ibn Abd al-Hamid from a man who has said the following:

"Once I went in the presence of Abu Abd-Allah (as), and complained to him from a pain that I suffered. The Imam instructed me to say, "In the name of Allah, wipe your hand on the painful area and say, "I seek protection through the power of Allah, I seek protection through the glory of Allah, I seek protection through the greatness of Allah, I seek protection through the community of Allah, I seek protection through the Messenger of Allah, I seek protection through the names of Allah, against the evil of that which I avoid (cautious of) and from the evil of that from which I fear for myself,  say it seven times. I (the narrator) followed the instruction and Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, removed the pain from me."

O'Husain (as) - Who granted refuge to Futrus ..
Give us the opportunity to seek refuge with your grave ..

in the same way as the angels Futrus sought refuge with his (i.e. al-Husayn) cradle we are thus seeking refuge with his tomb after him (i.e. his martyrdom) as we
are witnessing the soil of him and expecting his return.

A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from
‘Uthman ibn ‘Isa from Sama'a from abu ‘Abd Allah, recipient of divine supreme
covenant, who has said the following:

“When you are afraid of something say, ‘O Lord, no one is an alternative for You and You are the alternative for everyone of Your creatures, suffice me in such and such matters.’”

“In another Hadith the Imam, recipient of divine supreme covenant, has instructed to say this, ‘O the One who suffices in everything and nothing is sufficient for Him in the heavens and earth, suffice me in what is important to me of worldly and the hereafter and bestow al-Salat (favors) upon Muhammad and his family.’

“Abu ‘Abd Allah, recipient of divine supreme covenant, has also said, ‘If anyone feels apprehensive in the presence of a ruler, he should say, “By the help of Allah, I seek conquest, by the power of Allah I will achieve success and through Muhammad, recipient of divine supreme covenant, I turn to (Allah). O Lord, ease up his difficult attitude for me, and soften for me his hardheartedness; You delete what You will, and establish. With You there is the original book.” Also say, ‘Allah is sufficient for me, no one deserves to be worshipped except Allah and I place my trust in Allah. He is the Lord of the Great Throne, through the means of Allah and His power I seek (from Allah) to prevent their means and power (from harming me), I seek prevention by the Lord, who opens up the dawn, against the evil of what He has created, there are no means and no power without Allah.’

Friday - The day of ‎Qaim‬

Every passing moment on Friday should remind us of al-Qaim (atfs) who is to appear on a Friday ..

"O Allah, make me steadfast on Your religion, Seek me in Your obedience,Make my heart lenient/soft towards Your representative, Make me free from that which You have used as tests for Your creatures, And make me steadfast on the obedience to Your representative whom You have hidden from Your creatures."

"Who is in a worse state than me? For when I move into my grave, without having prepared myself, what is the fate of my long sleep?

Why do I not cry?

I see my own self destroying me, and my passing days betraying me.

The wings of death have descended over my head, why do I not cry?

I cry for the extraction of my soul.

I cry for the darkness of my grave.

I cry for the solitude of my grave.

I cry for how it squeezes me.

I cry from the questions of Munkar and Nakir.

I cry for the day I emerge out of my grave. Naked. Humiliated. Carrying the heavy weight of my wrong actions on my back."

Selection from a dua to be recited during the period of Ghaibah ..

"O Allah, do not deprive us of our strong faith because of his long-lasting Ghaibah (occultation) and disconnection of His news from us. Do not make us forget to mention him [constantly], and to wait for him, to believe in him, to have strong faith in his re-appearance (Zahoor), to pray for him, and to invoke Your blessings on him so that his long-lasting occultation (ghaibah) will never make us despair of his advent and our faith in this will be just like our faith in the advent of Your Messenger, Your peace be upon him and his AhlulBayt, and [just like our faith in] all that which has been conveyed by him to us through Your Revelation and Divine communication. O Allah, strengthen our hearts upon believing in him so that You will lead us, at his hands, to the path of true guidance, the greatest destination, and the moderate way. Grant us strength to obey him, make us firm in supporting him, and include us with his party, backers, allies, and those satisfied with his deed. Do not deprive us of this during our lifetimes nor at the hour of our death, but (please) make us die while we are upon this (faith), without doubt, and without breach of our covenant to him, and without suspect, or belying him."

Asalaam O Alaikum dear brothers and sisters,

I just love this du'a, it is one of my favourites.

To remove all difficulties, worries and troubles recite following du-a by Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib

O Allah, verily You, unto those who love You, are more loving than any who loves; You are ever at hand to fulfill at once the desires of those who rely on You; You take notice of their wishes, You perceive their innermost thoughts, You know the depth of their intelligence. You are fully aware of their confidential concerns. There hearts long for (relief from) You. Whenever miserable and forsaken Your remembrance comfort them in distress. Whenever misfortunes assault them, they turn to You, knowing well that the reins of all affairs are in Your hand and every affair rise from and flow out as soon as Your decision is made. O my Allah, if I falter in speaking my request and wander astray in describing my needs and wants, show me the way that leads to that which promotes my interests and turn my heart to its course, because it is neither against (the principles of) Your guidance nor your act of giving succour can be described as unlikely.
O my Allah, support me with Your pardon, do not burden me with Your justice.

Where is Hasan? Where is Husayn? Where are the children of Husayn? The whole good, one and all! The truth altogether! Where is the regular unbroken vital connection? Where is the on going sequence of desirable goodness? Where are the clear source and spring of Light (vision and insight)? Where are the lively vivid handsome faces? Where are the distinctly visible pioneers? Where are the "know all the answers" scholars who communicated and made clear the religion of Allah? The fundamentals of knowledge and wisdom! Where is the ‘Everlasting legacy of God"? (never ever is the "family of Guides" without One).

Where is the impenetrable defense who broke the back of the oppressive tyrants? Where is the "awaited saviour" who will set the have-nots and the depressed on their feet? Where is the "The Hope" who will put and end to tyranny and oppression? Where is the "preserved guaranty" who shall give new life to rule of law and refined way of life?

Where is the "Chosen in preference good" who shall raise the spirits of the people and give currency to justice and fairplay? Where is the "hope-giving confidante" who shall make full use of the "Book" and define the sphere of action? Where is he who shall blot out dogma in the matter of religion and his (Muhammad’s) children? Where is he who shall break up meddlesome trouble and tampering?

Where is he who shall pull down the foundations of confusion (polytheists) and hypocrisy? Where is he who shall stamp out corruption, vice, reaction and injustice? Where is he who shall trim the outgrowth of despair, longing and hardships? Where is he who shall erase the traces of unfairness and self-seeking conceit? Where is he who shall untie the twisted knots of falsehood and disruption? Where is he who shall separate senselessness and insolence from the people? Where is he who shall tear up by the roots obstinacy, corruption and apostasy?

Where is he who shall love dearly the favourites of Allah and take pains to tame and train the trangressors? Where is he who shall make people familiar with "words of wisdom"? Where is the ultimate (Divine) source of plenty and prosperity? Where is the "Divine aspect" the God-fearing may look up to? Where is the link that connects the cosmic complex? Where is the authority who shall communicate and make known the true point of view? Where is the author of the conception of peace, fairplay and welfare? Where is the defender of the traditions of the Prophets and their children? Where is the investigator of the blood of the Martyrs of Karbalaa?

Where is he who shall get the upper hand over the perpetrators of crime and greed? Where is he who shall not rest until he answers the cries of help when called upon? Where is the foremost leader of the people – the just, the truthful and the wise? Where is the son of the chosen Prophet? The son of Ali Al-Murtaza! The son of Khadeejah, the resplendent! The son of Faatimah, the great! My father, my mother, and I turn to you for protection and sanctuary

From Dua Nudba, very beautiful indeed.
