Asalaamu alaikom,

I am sure you all know that the sunni have some pretty "interesting" hadith in what is said to be their post 'authentic book'. If they are just this then what is going on with these hadith? I know for the Shi'ite it is said that we dont have any authentic 'book' just HADITH. We hace a science of hadith and if any hadith contradicts the Qur'an it is tossed out.

Someone tell me what is the deal!??!

As-Salaamu alaikum WRB,

There is scientific and intellectual criticism, and then there is the type of criticism which comes straight from the bottom of the heap of cow dung! What more can I say about this most stupid and immature thread?

1) http://www.usc.edu/dept....062.077   The prophet of God [b:post_uid0]between[/b:post_uid0] two girls beating the tambourines.  Read what Sahih Al-Bukhari says.

At first glance I wondered how even a corspe eater like yourself would find anything wrong with the above hadith, until I see you wrote [b:post_uid0]between two girls[/b:post_uid0]. Tell me, do you read, write and speak some other kind of English language the rest of us are unaware of? Where did you find this word [b:post_uid0]between[/b:post_uid0] in the translation and since you even provided the URL for us all to see, I ask where does it say this?

See, whats the point of replying to the rest of your garbage when you have been exposed even before we have really started, as a [b:post_uid0]liar[/b:post_uid0]. Enough said, I don't engage with such blatant liars.

Allah alone knows whats in your heart......

Brother, AbulHasan you can try as hard as you want to blame grammatical errors for not discussing anything with the shia, but we all know what the real reason is. You will never be able to answer this question:

[b:post_uid0]When did Allah (SW) choose Abu Bakr?[/b:post_uid0] What's that you say, "he didn't." Oh really, then, [b:post_uid0]Why should I follow him instead of Imam Ali, from amongst the purified ones?[/b:post_uid0]

You will never, and your most scholarly man will never answer this question, never! Isn't it a basic question?

If a house fly falls in the drink of anyone of you, he should dip it (in the drink)….. read this funny hadith in Al- Bukhary.. and enjoy a cool refreshing fly juice

Salaam alaikum,

The above hadith is also in the Shia hadiths.   I'm sure some of the others are too.   I really don't see what purpose this thread serves.

As-Salaamu alaikum WRB,

In regards to sister Hajar, nice to see another example of open minded muslims amongst the narrow minded extremists here. Label wahabi's this and that, yes they are extremists, but how different are some of the people on this forum, I mean really? I was inclined to mention the existence of many of the above hadith (or similar traditions being in shia books). For example regarding the Holy Prophet (SAW) and spending time with all his wives in the manner described, isn't it shia belief that Imam Mahdi will possess certain above-average human characteristics similarly? However, up till now I have detested to make reference to shia works. The reason being simple and plain. I would become like the ignorant people who spend all day looking up sunni hadith books finding faults and criticising to no real benefit in the afterlife. My intention always has been, and inshallah will remain always to defend against criticism (or should I say dirty slander) against ahlus sunnah, not to attack shia and their works. I am no qualified student or shaykh of Al-Kafi, etc, therefore I will not fall in the same trap of the unlearned (but wannabe expert) guys who throw slander for a voluntary living on this forum, thinking they can quote and criticise sunni hadith literature when they feel like it. Collections of sunni hadith like Bukhari, Muslim, etc, existed since the early 3rd Century AH, yet throughout the history of hadith sciences, we see that amongst the best qualified and highest ranking of the shia, none really engaged to criticise these works scientifically. Yet these were those amongst shia history who would have been best placed to do so, but they never did directly. Yet nowadays, its a shame that those who are no where near having the status of being learned students, let alone scholars, have begun this rather annoying and corpse eating habit. Learn a lesson from your predessessors and spare yourselves when you will be called to account and asked how you spent your lives in these desperate times for the muslim ummah.....

Wasalaam.

P.S. In reply to Abdul_Hasnain:

Oh yes, my daddy's bigger than your daddy, and my daddy's gonna does this, do that, and do whatever......Yawn...... Where did i put my sleeping pills......

AbulHasan, preceeding the Islamic revolution in Iran the shia have never been able to speak about Islam. The descendants of Rasool Allah pbuh and their followers were oppressed by your first at the death of the Holy Prophet, and the shia haven't been able to discuss Islam with others until now.

If one said that they were a shia of Ali in the times that came after the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (as) by your 5th Caliph of Islam, Yazid, you would have your tongue pulled out, of you would be tortured severely, see Despotic Rulers by Mughirah for all your "sunni only" proofs of the treatment of shia in the centuries after the death of Rasool Allah pbuh. Now that Alhamdulillah, we are free enough in some countries, to discuss the truth (2:256)... then let us. Please.

To be quite honest, I never like to discuss that so and so did so and so, but with some people you get caught up in the results not the effect (like prayer times and prostration on a stone etc). We should be discussing fundamentals because that is where the foudations are laid.

If we look at "Imamah/Wilaya" as a fundamental of both Sunni and Shia school of thought which is the source of the division, we will see that Abu Bakr was never nominated, but Imam Ali was nominated in numerous events, and in numerous ways. But why is it that the Sunnis do not take the wilaya of Ali ibn Abi Talib, as an injunction in Islam in as much as you would take the other words of Rasool Allah pbuh concerning prayers or fasting? Does he not speak revelation? Is it not a command of Allah then?

[b:post_uid0]"I swear by the star when it goes down. Your companion does not err, nor does he go astray. Nor does he speak out of desire. It is naught but revelation that is revealed."[/b:post_uid0] -53:1-4

All sunnis are of the opinion that Abu Bakr became leader through election, why is it that Abu Bakr's leadership through election at the Saqifa of Bani Saida has priority over the selection made by Allah and his Prophet?

Ali ibn Khalil

As-Salaamu alaikum WRB,

Abdul_Hasnain:

Was not the era under the Safavids a blossoming point in time for shia scholarship to 'openly' engage Bukhari, et al? I am not saying shia have not ben persecuted in history, but to say that is the reason why no scientific responses were made to intellectually criticise bukhari, et al up till the 1980's is absoluteley ridiculous. Even now, after the Iranian Revolution, the criticism is not scholarly, but cheap and un-intellectual from non-scholars, in fact non-students of the deen!

Also dear brother Abdul_Hasnain, despite your best efforts at jesting and getting me to engage in who is wrong and who is right, I will hold my tongue in regards to this. I fear Allah too much dear brother. I will continue to post in defence of articles whose [b:post_uid0] sole purpose is to slander ahlus sunnah[/b:post_uid0]. This is where I will cease my actions. I am not interested in debates and arguing.

In other words dear brother(s) (and sisters):

Stand up and fight to [b:post_uid0] defend [/b:post_uid0] what you believe in.

But detist from getting carried away in the emotions and going from defenders to becoming utter barbarians. Hope you get my point.

Wasalaam.

salam,

bro dhulfiqar, there is something wrong with that. There's a reason that the Ahle-Bayt are the purified people-- no najasat has ever touched them. and plus, how could that hadith be true when, if Imam Ali could pray 1000 rakkats of namaaz every night, the Prophet saw must have done more!

1) There are many 'troubling' shia ahadith as well. Sure, shia ulema have not graded them. But dont use that as an excuse to put down sunni ahadith.

2) Many times, 'funny' sunni ahadith are also found in shia books. Many shias dont know about this, because they spend their time trying to find faults in the sunni books. (It's sad, but not a SINGLE shia I know in real life has actually read shia hadith books, while they can babble on about the 'funny things' in the sahihain).

3) Just because something *seems* funny doesn't make it false.

The Quran talks about Ibrahim being thrown into a fire without getting burnt. Or Younus not getting burnt by the acids in the whale's stomach. etc....

My point is, just because we can't understand some stuff does not make it false.

wassalam.

Same thing as tahasyed said, plus this point:

I have seen that Shias, due to the fact that they have been a minority throughout history, will be much more familiar with Sunni Ahadeeth than the Sunnis are with the Shia Ahadeeth.

The fair thing would be for us Sunnis to get a hold of all the major (and minor) classical works of Shia literature, go through them, and then see what are the "troubling" ahadeeth in such works.

I am not saying this to poke fun at Shias, just saying that the standard should be fairly applied to all groups.

Thanks.

There are individuals who like to poke fun at certain Ahadeeth about Allah putting His Foot in Hellfire, and other Ahadeeth to the same respect. Now, consider the Ayah 39.67 which says :

YUSUFALI: No just estimate have they made of Allah, such as is due to Him: On the Day of Judgment the whole of the earth will be but His handful, and the heavens will be rolled up in His right hand: Glory to Him! High is He above the Partners they attribute to Him!

PICKTHAL: And they esteem not Allah as He hath the right to be esteemed, when the whole earth is His handful on the Day of Resurrection, and the heavens are rolled in His right hand. Glorified is He and High Exalted from all that they ascribe as partner (unto Him).

SHAKIR: And they have not honored Allah with the honor that is due to Him; and the whole earth shall be in His grip on the day of resurrection and the heavens rolled up in His right hand; glory be to Him, and may He be exalted above what they associate (with Him).

I am 100 % sure that had this statement of Allah rolling up the Heavens in His Right Hand been in the Saheehs, the Shias would have made so much fun of this statement and said that such a thing is a huge blasphemy, etc.

But as all can see, the statement is in the Quran. So now the question is:

If the Shias can easily say that the statement in the Quran should be viewed figuratively/metaphorically, then what prevents them from alluding the same figurative interpretation to the Ahadeeth in the Saheeh (unless if their intention is simply to poke fun at whatever they can. No offence, but such is the situation  ).

Thanks.

The quote:

big difference though, is shias see it as figurative, whereas non-shias take it literally, meaning they believe Allah (SWT) has a form including hands.

is very interesting.

I am currently living in Saudi Arabia, which is of course the "Wahabbist Kingdom". According to the propaganda being dropped by the likes of AA.org, al-islam.org, and the members of this forum, the people in here should say things like Allah has a form, etc.

But such a thing is far away from the reality. What I have heard all the time I have been here is that since Allah says in the Quran (and the Ahadeeth) about His Hands, His Right Hand (as evidenced in Ayah 39:67), and other things, then we as Muslims have no right to deny their existence.

However, we also have no right to say that Allah has a form or anything to that matter. Thus, even though Allah says He will roll up the Heavens in His Right Hand, we cannot and should not start imagining about how this looks, etc.

In short, we should simply go with what Allah has told us, and not add or subtract anything to Allah's statements, because we are not at all in a position to talk about this.

I said this simply as an explanantion as far as I know.

Thanks.

Maybe you should. It can only help.

We shias say that any hadith that contradict the quraan is a fabrication whereas you people swear up and down claiming that Sahih bukhari and muslim are 100% authentic.

I see a lot of people saying that the Shi'a have Hadiths that are just as bad but what people don't understand is that ahadeeth are not a part of our aqeeda like Sunni Muslims. The Shia put very little emphasis on ahadeeth compared to the Sunnah and it is not part of our Aqeeda to believe any book other than the Quran is 100% correct or accurate. The level that the Sunnis hold their Hadiths to is not correct they believe it to be 100% accurate and they hold it to a level similar to the Quran where they believe that they attain ajar just for reading the ahadeeth books.
