A prayer is uttered, the breath is cool to the mouth like stone

The growing weight in the chest remains like stone

The trembling words are ever so heavy and slow

The dry tongue is gray as a corpse and stiff like stone

The strained cry grinds the throat and chokes like thick ash

A sudden breeze touches the back, sharp as a knife on the grinding stone

Just as cold as a tea left out

At 3 p.m in the afternoon, watching the huddled masses of green on pond stones

And humanity will be left as fuel, still asleep

A fact unchanging, like stone

And the sudden realization hits as hard

The relief flows within, it explodes like a heated stone!

Alone with The Alone

In waves, who shall endure this like stone?
