Salaam,

I recently accepted and started working for company B. However, since it is remote, I have yet to inform company A(also remote) that I have accepted a role and provide a 2-week notice.

Since company A is grossly unorganized, my workflow has been absolutely nonexistent for the past few months, yet I am handsomely compensated(chalk it up to bad structure, I guess). My plan is to milk this out another two weeks, and once I get paid at the end of this month, then submit my two-week notice(they will probably not honor this, and let me go immediately - totally fine with me)

Keep in mind these companies are also competitors, although I do not have any non-compete agreement, nor am I trying to pass on documents or secrets from one company to another. I am simply taking advantage of a once-in-a-decade opportunity to get paid handsomely well.

What's the ruling here? Am I doing something unethical by continuing to stay on, or is it fine?

Thank you

Salam

unlawful in these situations tends to deal with haram

Being unfair and moral or unethical to an extent tends to deal in the area of spirituality and makruh

If you’re doing whatever work you need to do for the company you already work for even if it’s not that much while doing work for the new company that’s fine

You can work two jobs at the same time remotely as long as you’re getting done what you’re paid to get done

The only problem would be if they ask you if you’re working a second job and you lie which most likely they’re not gonna ask and it’s not gonna come up

Thanks for your reply.

Honestly, aside from attending mandatory meetings, I am not doing any work. which is not much different from before I accepted the offer from my Company B. It's just the structure and lack of transparency is so terrible, it's just not conducive to good work output. I'll be re-signing end of month after this last paycheck anyway.
