Is it permissible to join the Army?

Assalamu alaykum, I would like to know if it is permissible to join the military in a Western country, specifically the Australian army.

@shiaconvert17 Salam generally there is no problem but your joining must not cause harming muslims even it must causes serving  muslims ; so therefore you only can join to the military in a western country only if it causes serving muslims not harming them .

another big thing to consider is that in the western military, they do not allow the beard. You have to be completely clean, shaving even though joining the military and itself may be fine. The shaving requirement would make any income earned from it, not lawful.

Maybe Australia allows beards but most of the western countries I know don’t

Another problem in with my sister was dating a less than practicing Muslim when she was in the army and he couldn’t do his five daily prayers or fast because they wouldn’t move the schedules to accommodate prayers for the local ranking enlisted men in the barracks and generally put the lights on lights on off schedule. They didn’t really accommodate salah. You could get in trouble for making prayers after lights off, etc..

So this also would be a problem

There’s a whole host of other issues that go along with it

Ideally somebody to join for a couple years via medic take care of injured people allowed to have a be praying and fast, not being in a combat situation and that would be wonderful, but the last mash is only a TV show not reality and a lot of people don’t think about this before they sign the paper

Also, it should be noted that you could be in two or three years to get thrown out for something and not get any benefits at a cousin who is injured so he couldn’t report for like the national guard reserve the reserve of the reserve. You only have to show up once a month. Well, he was getting gonna have a lifetime healthcare. Everything well he injured himself couldn’t show up to duty. He didn’t get the wave in time. Got thrown out gets nothing.
