Hi. I am not very well versed in Islamic investing. I have been buying physical silver and wanted to invest in copper but the premiums are outrageous. I wanted to know if according to Shiism in general, and Khamenei in particular, if buying ETF is halal since they hold physical copper and do not deal with haram products.
There are no Shia investment apps but apparently there are Islamic (Sunni) investment apps that offer halal options according to Sunni jurisprudence. Are these permissible or is there a difference in our rulings?

Thank you.

I looked through what these are and how they work. This is several potential pitfalls possibility of interest market changes many of these seem to be mixed with a large amount of security, so do you really know what’s in them in speculation

This is a very much newer issue. This never came up when I worked for his office

What you’re gonna have to do is call one of the high ranking representatives directly to get an answer because for his specific verdict if it’s a new issue, they’re probably going to have to contact him or a senior student

his supreme representative in North America is Shaikh Ahmad Jawad Bahraini of the Islamic Education Center, Maryland, he speaks only Farsi his Arabic is very limited and his English unless you know he’s taking classes is nonexistent but one of the Office staff can translate English to Farsi and ask him and they can get back to you

If you are in Europe, it was formally Ayatullah Muhammad Ali Araki who would’ve been the person to go to I heard he moved back to Iran there. You would have to look at Islamic education center of England or the Islamic center of Hamburg.

If you’re in Africa, it’s Shaikh Ibrahim Zaki

In Pakistan formally it was sayyid dhulfikhar naqwi and Sayyid Sajjad Naqwi

If you’re on Australia or elsewhere, I’m not sure who is the main representatives there

The Office, if you send an online questions says they’ll get back to you in 72 hours usually they do but for brand new issues it can take longer so you’re better to ask in person

Outrageous premiums? Are you trying to buy ETF's on credit on a mercentile exchange? Halal or not, both these things can easily wipe out a lot of speculative retail investors. Unless you have tens of millions of dollars in assets already and your future is secure, don't try this.

ETF's themselves are nothing more than mutual funds traded on exchanges. They all have different compositions depending on the firm selling them. They aren't haram by themselves.
