When I read about khums which is 20% tax in Quran, It says that khums is taken from maal e ghanimat not from salary of a person. Why half of the khums goes to sayed??? It says it could be used for orphans needy and wayfarer.

Know that whatever of a thing you acquire, a fifth of it is for Allah, for the Messenger, for the near relative, and the orphans, the needy, and the wayfarer

I read Ahkam books, and they all said paying Khums is Wajib. Half of the Khums amount is Imam Zaman, and the other half goes to Sadaat people(those who are pious and struggling). Maraji do different things with Imam Zaman portion. For example, Ayat Sistani said last year that people can send 50% of the Imam Zaman portion to help shia people in Lebanon because they were struggling with war.

no time to go in the grammar brother, but he’s having a misunderstanding of the text. I’m just gonna run it down in English before I gotta run.

Thanks for pointing out the ruling of the major scholar of our time

It’s technically divided into half and each half into three literally six portions that’s not necessarily how it’s divided when it’s paid, but I’m just talking about the literal division based on the commentary in our narrations forgive the English in a rush. I’m just gonna quickly explain it in English because I see where the doubt in question is coming in.

For Allah his messenger and the near realtive is sahm imam the share of imam the phrase near relative indicates the 12 Aimmah as here

The orphans, the needy the Wayfarer is sahm Sadat share of Sadat the orphan indicates the ones were without the head of their family ie imam as the needy indicates those among the children of the Aimmah who are poor disabled widowed, can’t support themselves the Wayfarer in Arabic indicates those were stranded. Those were between places those who needs to get to another place where they can get help with they have relatives and business.

Their numerous narrations from the sixth guide imam as that explained this

This can be a more detailed discussion in Arabic grammar and narrations, but I’m running for the evening prayers and Majalis I hate to mention personal information about myself, but please forgive me for that and please forgive me if I couldn’t give a more detailed answer an Arabic with more detailed discussion

Blessed evening

Khums sehm-e-sadat is for needy Syeds.

Sadaqa is for needy non-Syeds.

Its 1/5 (20%) of savings and not salary.

Can the half that goes to financially struggling seyeds go to family members? I understand in zakat it can not go to parents but siblings is ok. Is it the same for khums?

yes but only with permission of your Marja . Some scholars roller, can’t go to the parents or children that it is your financial responsibility to support.

But khums is supposed to go to imam!!!

If The imam is not here!!!  The Imam is in occultation, the khums is also revoked!!

this is just my own opinion

Which is why we don't make qiyas. Shias follow their marja and do what is best, not misinterpret things.

this is not even the position of the Akhbari School. They have these doubts, but since versus and narrations command the payment of khums, they pass it down as an inheritance they buried in the Earth or they spend it themselves.

even many Usuli trust the Marja but not their offices . This being due to the many scandals and known public corruption of many of the offices several of the ones here in the states I would never give a penny to and these are the biggest ones that probably everyone gives I would never give those groups of penny. However, that does not relieve a person from the obligation of khums.

A friend of mine recently went to Iraq. He talked to one of the senior jurors there he said look I love you. I trust you, but your office is horrible. They do all kinds of corruptions. We don’t trust your representatives. What do I do? He said well it’s not practical for you to come here and hand me the money every year so he said to spend the money the way you think is best for Islam he said the important part is not paying me the kind but paying it .
