A video has come up showing Husainiyas being attacked by men claimed as HTS members, with reference to https://t.me/presstv

If it's true, then Syria has indeed become the stronghold of Sufyanism as had been prophesied.

This comment specifically is why everyone saying iran focusing on israel first and foremost being a mistake, are clueless.

Israel is the very country plotting to bring back shia muslims into hiding.

I hope this time Lebanon close their border because the Sunnis in Tripoli are pro Joulani, I’m worried the Syrians who are pro Joulani might start fitna in Lebanon.

Brother, an article I came across this week mentioned Lebanon may normalize relations with Israel in the next year or so. Is there any truth to this?

Lebanon has a confessional system of government, which means that the Christians and Sunnis are influential in the state apparatus way beyond their demographic strength.

The Christians look back to the Roman Empire and Mandatory Lebanon under France with nostalgia, when they were the privileged elite. The Maronite Christian Fascist Phalangists are notoriously pro-Israel, hateful of Muslims and especially Shia, and pro Israel. The collaborated with the IOF in perpetrating the Sabra and Shatilla massacres during the Lebanese Civil War, and ever since the Shia rose as a power in Lebanon under Sayyid Muda Sadr (rh), they have fought with Amal and Hezbollah regularly.

The Sunnis look back to the Ottoman Lebanon, when they were the privileged elite, with nostalgia, and are deeply hateful, resentful and jealous of the rise of the Shia in as a powerful political and military force. They tried everything, from inviting Saudi influence to other shenanigans in order to stem the Shia influence. Israel has been courting the Sunni Arabs for a long time too.

The Shia on the other hand have always been the demographic majority but the persecuted underclass, mostly poor peasants and labourers from the villages. The very thought of equality with the Shia stings the Sunnis and Christians like a venomous hornet and makes them seethe.

Then there are the Druze who are a fifth columnist Muslim offshoot like the Bahais and the Qadianis; they are loyal to Israel and have a huge population there, although the Jews treat them like dirt.

So it is very possible that they'll both ask for Israeli help against the Lebanese Shia and their party, Hezbollah. What you read in the article might be very true. They have been calling for disarming Hezbollah for ages now.

Trump announced that there would be some very unexpected countries to sign this, I wouldn't be surprised after all.

Most christians in lebanon are anti kataeb/ouwet fascists. Most christians in lebanon are liberals/conservatives who don't much care about politics, but an increasing number are supporting hezb. Sami3 gagea3 did not even get much support during the elections, he actually had a meltdown.

I know multiple maronite christians myself who were sympathetic to what israel was doing to our villages.

Don't fall for the charlatans at r/lebanon, they don't represent most lebanese people.

Most sunnis in lebanon are just normal people who also don't care much about politics with maybe slight brainwashing by hts.

The terrorist sympathisers are mostly in tripoli city and in the north. That plus the millions of syrian refugees who many of them are loyal to HTS terrorists unfortunstley.

The minority of the sunnis and christians do have that reaction. But they don't have a lot of support in the country.

In lebanon? I don't even know if they support israel like their insane traitors in palestine who proudly join the idf terrorist organisation.

They're not a real threat. Especially ouwet fascists, they're pathetic compared to their 1980s predecessors.

The Lebanese Christians I observed were all pro Israel and viciously anti Muslim. They must have been kataeb supporters then, the minority with a megaphone.

If anything, it should be clear to any Christian in the Levant that the only people who can protect them and guarantee their religious freedom are the Shia.

Although I don't know where exactly they were from, a revert sister who lives in taqiyyah was saying that her Sunni family was jubilant when they killed Sayyid Nasrallah (rh). This was the reaction of all the Sunnis she knows. They were feasting, making merry and celebrating his death, and the atmosphere around her had become so toxic that she nearly had a breakdown.

So I have my reasons to be wary of them.

This certainly appears to be the case with their leaders, the ones who control their politics.

Look at what  their leader Jumblatt has been saying. He has been calling for the neutralizing of Hezbollah and normalizing with Israel for a long time now.

Not true brother, majority of Christian’s in Lebanon welcomed Lebanese Shia when the invasion started on 2024 except the cities that is owned by LF and Kataeb.

Just like what brother Abdullah said, in Tripoli and Akkar majority are pro HTS and ISIS, in saida for example they respect the hezb and did not celebrate the death of sayid Hassan (رضي الله عنه)

What do you expect from a man who was the former leader of Al Qaeda in syria and had a 10 million bounty on his head until as early ago as 2024?

Syrian Alawites warn of retaliation against attacks targeting minority group

The head of the Supreme Islamic Alawite Council in Syria and Abroad has warned that any attack targeting the minority community ‘will not go unanswered’ amid a new outbreak of sectarian violence triggered by HTS‑backed militias.

Sheikh Ghazal Ghazal made the remarks on Thursday, two days after tens of thousands of Syrians protested in the coastal provinces of Latakia and Tartus, as well as in the neighboring provinces of Hama and Homs.

The demonstrators called for an end to repeated attacks on Alawite‑majority neighborhoods and the killings and abductions of their residents.

In Latakia, reports said militants loyal to the ruling Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham-led (HTS) regime fired live ammunition to disperse demonstrators, seriously wounding one of them.

Quote

The demonstrations were largely triggered by a deadly assault on Alawite civilians, carried out by HTS regime-backed tribal militias. The militias, linked to a Bedouin community, blamed the Alawites for the murder of a couple.

The attackers stormed the al-Muhajireen neighborhood in Homs, burning homes and shops, destroying cars, and firing indiscriminately at residents, killing at least two people and injuring dozens.

Quote

Back in March, sectarian tensions escalated in Syria's coastal areas, leaving at least 1,400 people dead, according to HTS officials, most of them the Alawites.

The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) recorded more than 1,700 killings in the same regions.

Quote

It documented widespread abuses, including field executions, torture, kidnappings and indiscriminate attacks.

The Israeli regime, meanwhile, has escalated its own strikes across the country, exploiting Syria’s post-Assad instability to grab more land from the Arab country.

Silent Lambs of Syria: Alawite Persecution in Ahmed Sharaa’s New Order

Targeting the Alawites: A Cycle of Violence and Silence

Quote

Alawites are a sect which is considered an offshoot of Shia Islam, who have historically dominated Syria’s northwestern provinces of Latakia, Tartus, and Homs, with a significant presence in the capital Damascus. The cycle of violence against the Alawite community under Sharaa’s leadership has been marked by an unsettling silence.

According to Reuters, in March 2025 alone, approximately 1,500 Alawites were killed in Syria’s coastal areas, with dozens still missing. This violence has occurred even as the US and the EU passed executive orders lifting targeted sanctions on Syria. Reports indicate that government law enforcement agencies, such as the General Security Service under the Interior Ministry, have been complicit in these killings.

The future of Alawites

Quote

But this realignment comes with stark warning to Syria’s Alawite minority that their existential crisis is far from over. It appears that they are being given an unspoken yet explicit message that they can either leave or die as there would be no middle ground. Such type of collective punishment upon the Alawites for their association with Assad’s brutal regime, even after his fall, goes against the very grain of Sharaa’s accommodative rhetoric.

His allies, regional and Western, particularly the latter, who are in the business of condemning rights violations across the world would need to shed their myopic worldview of accommodating a ruler without any commitment to safeguard the lives of all Syrian demographic constituents, including Alawites. Until that happens not only will minorities like Alawites continue to be persecuted but it will keep exposing the duplicity of not only regional actors but also western governments, multilateral institutions, global rights watchdogs.

Syria’s Alawite Council calls for general strike over HTS religious persecution

The head of the Supreme Alawite Islamic Council in Syria and Diaspora, Sheikh Ghazal Ghazal, has called for a nationwide five-day general strike in a “peaceful and clear response” to the religious persecution and sectarian violence against members of the community under the ruling Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) regime.

Sheikh Ghazal, in a statement released on Saturday, announced that the strike will begin on Monday and will end on December 12, in response to the pressures and threats from HTS authorities.

“Our response will be completely peaceful, and will be expressed through a nationwide strike and staying indoors for five days,” he noted.

Sheikh Ghazal stated that the fall of former President Bashar al-Assad's government late last year was expected to usher in a new era in Syria’s history, but it was the collapse of remnants of the homeland under the motto of freedom.

Quote

Since the collapse of Assad’s government, the Israeli military has also been launching airstrikes against military installations, facilities, and arsenals belonging to Syria’s now-defunct army.

Israel has been widely condemned for the termination of the 1974 ceasefire agreement with Syria, and for exploiting the chaos in the Arab nation in the wake of Assad’s downfall to make a land grab.

And was in the zarqawi gang actively participating in massacring Shia women and children in Iraq post-US 2003 invasion.
