Israeli military conducts airstrikes on Iran

Story by Courtney Kube

The Israeli military has begun airstrikes against Iran, two U.S. officials said Thursday evening, a dramatic escalation that increased the chances of an all-out war between the countries and expanding the long-running regional conflict.

There is no U.S. involvement or assistance, the officials said.

Israel confirmed it had launched a strike on Iran, and declared a state of emergency early Friday local time.

"Following the State of Israel’s pre-emptive strike against Iran, a missile and drone attack against the State of Israel and its civilian population is expected in the immediate future," Israel's Defense Minister Israel Katz said in a statement early Friday local time.

The move appeared to be a significant break with the Trump administration, which has been in talks with Tehran on a possible nuclear deal and argued against such a step.

Israel became more serious about attacking Iran as negotiations between the United States and Iran appeared closer to a preliminary agreement that included provisions about uranium enrichment that Israel views as unacceptable.

A big worry for the U.S. is Iran retaliating against American personnel or assets in the region. Officials earlier announced the voluntary departure of nonessential employees, and the Defense Department announced the voluntary departure of military families from across the U.S. Central Command area of operations.

The Trump administration had ordered all embassies within striking distance of Iran’s missiles, aircraft and other assets (including missions in the Middle East, Northern Africa and Eastern Europe) to send cables with assessments about danger and about measures to mitigate risks to Americans and U.S. infrastructure, two sources told NBC News this week.

Earlier this week, the board of governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency, the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog, formally found that Iran isn’t complying with its nuclear obligations for the first time in 20 years.

Iran should retaliate not simply back down

They should target the shipments of Israel weapons and their ports and the shipment line of Morocco and Cyprus. They should target oil targets in Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan and other countries that goes to Israel. Hit Us military bases in Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, Qatar and UAE. Hit Israel mititary bases and power plants.

If the response is similar than the previous ones, then Israel will just continue.

Disagree.  Hit Israel all it wants, but don't start attacking US bases.  If you want to pull the US into a war with Iran, then that's one way to do it.  But yeah, otherwise make it rain on Israeli military bases, and power plants, their ports.  Don't target civilians obviously.  If it were possible to know where IDF were in Gaza, I'd say strike those spots as well, but I don't think Iran has that capability.

The problem with attacking the US, and all the Arabs, is that Iran cannot fight multiple fronts.  If the US starts daily bombing of Iran, then their military will become like Iraqs - a shadow of what it was.  And if it hits all their Arab neighbors, then they will have plenty of enemies.  Right now many citizens in the Arab countries are looking at Iran as the only country standing up to Israel (aside from Yemen).  Unless those citizens are willing to overthrow their governments and ally with Iran, Iran would be best served by not antagonizing them.

All by time and wisely of course. The problem with us is that we always assume the worst but not what deserving. Sometimes you need to take a step that yemenis has demonstrated.

I am tired of this world...

For how many more years, for how much longer these can filthy hyenas do whatever they want destructions, oppressions, genocide.... you name it all, they committed. How much longer...?

How much longer can they get away with it. All sort of evil is happening, you can name it all. Isn't time, My Dear God to send the Savoir Imam Mehdi (AJF) and his soldiers to save the Muslims or perhaps save the whole humanity from the evil doers.? When time comes, Please Punish the West, severe punishment specially their governments, cooperation and all the racists.

It is on my Wishlist and will not remove it, If I make it to heaven, I would like to spend some time watch all these ********* punished in hell.

Are you in Pakistan?  Or Pakistani?  I've heard from Pakistanis that no one they know is happy about this.  But I do remember Pakistanis that I overheard back last April making fun of Iran when they launched drones and a few missiles against Israel.

I take no pleasure in what is happening to muslims in Iran. Theological differences are not differences in whether someone is Muslim.

Thanks bro

but your thinking is very atypical as you have not inherited the prejudices of Arabs and Persians ( or south Asians for that matter )

Eventually they're going to have to bring the war to the shores of the United  States... by "they" I mean China, Russia, North Korea, Iran, Yemen etc.
