Asalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh, I have never really used this website, and I really genuinely don't know how to use it, but in sha Allah I'm asking this, in the correct place to ask.

To start off, I am A Shia alhamdullilah, and I really want to become a Shia author, however, I do not know where to start, how to, or who to talk to. Do you guys know anyone I can talk to about this? Maybe they have written a Shia book, or are willing to help, if so, please let me know in sha Allah.

Salam you can ask your question from @Qa'im who has written some books about Shia Islam as a Shia author.

Bismiillah,

Walaykumsalam.

Before going out with the intention of writing a book, the biggest advice I would give myself before anyone else is, the first intention is such a book should be for yourself, and you need to deeply and seriously think about the benefit it would bring to you, how accurate it would be, and the consequences of misinformation.

A rigorous process in the dark might even yield insights where you realise beliefs, assumptions, perhaps even lack of knowledge are apparent - and this is true for me before anyone else. You might even emerge and realise you don't want the responsibility of having written a book.

Remember, anything we write, anything we post, if it misguides anyone, we will be held accountable and if it is widespread, we must take responsibility of undoing it, which can get very messy.

The first step I preach to myself, before anyone else, is just to engage in deep learning. Learn and make notes, and re-do the notes, and keep going with the process for years, five years, ten years until you actually don't feel qualified, but at the end of it, you have certainty such a book yields benefit and your work has spanned decades such that you naturally have self-written a book that you kept in secret intended only for you and for your own growth and pursuit of truth.

The first step, is to save our own selves and secure our own salvation. Before writing a book, have we memorised the Quran, mastered Arabic, read the scholarly works in-depth of the major sects and groups? Have we been tested in an objective manner to ascertain how well we have retained and are able to apply various facets of islamic theology and academia?

People like @Qa'im have mastered Arabic, and are actively involved in Academia at a high level. I don't even agree with everything written by users like that, I have many disagreements but their knowledge far eclipses my own.

WS,

I guess the first question is, what do you want to write about? Children's books are pretty popular and necessary, for example.

Writing requires some discipline and organization. You should write every day, even if it is just one paragraph. If you read a lot, it will help you learn how to write effectively. Copy editing skills are also needed.

There are a few Shia publishers: Taqwa Media, Lantern Publications, Kisa Kids, Tasneem Institute. Ansariyan does translations of classical texts.
