Assalamualaikum, brothers,

I am a Hindu, but I admire Islam. I have been following Islam, reading the Quran along with many of its tafsirs, studying the life of the Prophet ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)), several hadiths, and exploring different understandings of various fiqhs. I find Shia to be the best of all (I do have difference when it comes to lack of dawah and ecosystem for reverts)

I am in love with Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) and the Sunnah. Whenever I see a Muslim or a Muslimah, I feel they are my people, while non-Muslims feel like strangers to me. At times, I even find myself biased when hiring, if the candidate is Muslim, my heart softens, and when I see a Muslim beggar, I feel compelled to give everything in my pocket. I’m unsure if this is permissible, as the Prophet ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) was known for his kindness to all. Perhaps this is what the feeling of ummah and brotherhood truly is.

I sincerely wish to revert.

However, I am afraid. I come from a well-to-do upper class Kshatriya family, and at 32, I fear they will disown me and remove me from our family business. Additionally, my family is pressuring me to get married, but I do not wish to marry a polytheist.

Are there any upper-class or business-class reverts who have gone through a similar experience? Or is there any Indian Muslim scholar who can guide me?

You can become a Muslim and conceal that until a time you are fully independent.

Who will give their daughter or sister to me who has no family supporting me? I thought about finding a woman who is a revert but then Shia population is too small, I don't think I will find one. My Parents are forcing me to marry. There is no Shia ecosystem or any Shia i know of in my region. (chennai)

Walaikum Assalam,

I echo the statement that you can become Muslim and conceal your faith. Insha'Allah may you be able to practice Islam freely one day.

"Said a man of faith from Pharaoh’s clan, who concealed his faith, ‘Will you kill a man for saying, ‘‘My Lord is Allah,’’ while he has already brought you manifest proofs from your Lord? Should he be lying, his falsehood will be to his own detriment; but if he is truthful, there shall visit you some of what he promises you. Indeed Allah does not guide someone who is a transgressor and liar." [Quran 40:28]

"Allah cites an example of the faithful: the wife of Pharaoh, when she said, ‘My Lord! Build me a home near You in paradise, and deliver me from Pharaoh and his conduct, and deliver me from the wrongdoing lot.’" [Quran 66:11]

"Excepting someone who is compelled [to recant his faith] while his heart is at rest in it, those who disbelieve in Allah after [affirming] their faith and open up their breasts to unfaith, Allah’s wrath shall be upon them and there is a great punishment for them." [Quran 16:106]

I am not sure of your family circumstances & attitudes, but I also want to point out at that there have been monotheistic Hindu reform movements that reject polytheism & idol worship, such as Brahmo Samaj and Arya Samaj. Given the rise and prevalence of Hindutva, these movements could show your family that believing in monotheism and shunning idolatry is not a "foreign" or "Arabic" concept. And Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) knows best.

If you can support her or at least contribute properly (a lot of women work now) then you should be able to find someone.
