السلام عليكم

When we sin, do Ahlulbayt peace be upon them hate us? Do they reject us, hence making Allah reject us? If we sin as lovers of Ahlulbayt peace be upon them what happens to us?

As a sinful person if I call upon the Imam of our times name peace be upon him and his family, would he turn away from me because of my sins? If I talk to him (as I have heard that our voices and thoughts reach to his ears before they even reach to ours) does he ignore us?

Great scholars, and the pious and the good claim to have seen the Imam (peace be upon him may Allah hasten his appearance) in person on rare occasions but please what about the sinners?

I repent, but I redo my mistakes often.

What does that make me?

If a person like myself, who hasn't done any good, or given or sacrificed anything for the sake of Allah or haven't fought battles talks  to the Imam peace be upon him and his family often will my voice be heard to him? If I write to him often does he read what I write?

Forgive me for being hopeful enough to ask, despite my sins does could our Imam love me even as a sinner?

I can't give you an answer, but I can tell you that I know how you feel.

Sometimes I feel even as I'm forcing myself to speak to the Imam (May Allah hasten his appearance) I think things like "Why would he even listen to my petty problems? People are being killed, men are being martyred to show him how much he means to them, children are being brutally terrorized, mothers send their sons that they raised to war just out of love for him,  I mean seriously why would he listen to such stupid problems like mine?"

Sometimes I feel ashamed to call his name even when I'm at my lowest because my lowest can be a privilege in comparison to others around the world. Like I end up feeling guilty for calling out for help for my own problems when I see how much bigger the problems of others truly are.

Even when I do something good it feels too shameful, too small too little like how could this one deed be enough for the Imam?

Wa alaykom asalam

The issue isn't sinning, it's intentionally sinning without remorse. We all sin - small and big. It's important to be remorseful and to ask Allah for forgiveness with sincerity.

Try to improve, repent often, offer Nafilah prayers for your Maghfirah, and know that Allah is All Merciful, All Forgiving.

Those who sin without repentance, have zero remorse for their actions, Allah has left them to their state and will deal with them on the Day of Judgement.

I'm a sinner, I feel remorse, and I fix my mistakes but somehow still make them. Can you please give me advice on what I've written?

One of the greatest sins is Yas, translated as giving up hope that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) will forgive me. Therefore, no matter how many sins we have committed (I use 'we' because we are all in the same situation), we need to not give up hope and ask Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) to forgive us.

In the case that we repeat the same sin over and over, we should also not give up hope and we should keep asking Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) to forgive us. You have to understand that to Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى), it is not the number of times the sin is repeated, it is the number of times that the servent does Tauba (turns toward Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) that matters. Sins, and repeated sins harden hearts only when one does the sin and then justifies it in some way, removing the need for the person to ask for forgiveness because we feel we are 'justified' in committing the sin. Then we don't ask for forgiveness, and this is what hardens the heart till eventually the heart becomes 'harder than stone' and we don't even see or notice that we are committing a sin.

As an example of this 'justification', is the following. There are some brothers and sisters who have maids or servants working for them. Some of these brothers and sisters abuse these workers by insulting them, abusing them, not paying them what was the agreed upon salary, etc. They use a justification of 'well they are my employees, I am smarter than them, better than them, have a higher social status, etc'. As we all know, these justifications are not part of Islam and are actually anti-Islam because the first one to use this justification was Iblis, the cursed one, when he refused to do sujjud to Adam((عليه السلام)) after he was order by Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) to do so. So if this behavior continues with the justification, then eventually the person will not even realize they are doing a sin, and thus will not ask for forgiveness from Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى), i.e. do Tauba.

So one must not justify or attempt to justify the sin. Also, the person must take active steps to not repeat the sin. For example, if someone is addicted to pornography / masturbation as a result of not having a spouse, this person must take active steps to get married. If someone is addicted to gambling, they must avoid going to casinos or even going near them, they must delete gambling apps from their phone, close / disable their accounts that are linked to gambling, etc. If they don't justify, do Tauba, and actively take steps to avoid these sins then they will do them less and eventually stop doing them, although this might take years or decades, as long as we stay on the path, we will eventually reach the destination although the journey may be long. To make the journey shorter, we must be more tough and more vigilant at avoiding sins. Salam.

Thank you so much for all the replies. May Allah forgive all our sins. And may he help us all out of his mercy.

Muhammad bin Muslim relates from Imam al-Baqir (‘a) that the Imam said,

O Muhammad bin Muslim! Every sin of a Mu’min for which he has repented is forgiven. For the future after repentance and forgiveness they must continue good deeds. By Allah no one has this merit except the faithful.

I inquired; what if someone does Tawba and Istighfar and then commits a sin and again repents? In response, the Imam said,

O Muhammad bin Muslim! You know very well that a Mu’min can honestly be ashamed for his deeds. Then if he repents, will Allah not accept his Tawba?

I asked what if he sins a number of times? He said,

Even then his Tawba will be accepted. Allah ((سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى).) will pardon his sins because He is very kind. He will surely accept repentance and overlook our misdeeds. Beware! You may not make a Mu’min disheartened."

Salaam Aleikum,

اَللَّهُمَّ تُبْ عَلَيَّ حَتَّىٰ لاَ أَعْصِيَكَ
allahumma tub `alayya hatta la a`siyaka
O Allah, accept my repentance so that I will not disobey you ever again,

وَأَلْهِمْنِي ٱلْخَيْرَ وَٱلْعَمَلَ بِهِ
wa alhimni alkhayra wa al`amala bihi
inspire me with goodness, good-doing,

وَخَشْيَتَكَ بِٱللَّيْلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ مَا أَبْقَيْتَنِي
wa khashyataka billayli wa alnnahari ma abqaytani
and fear of You all over day and night as long as You keep me alive.

يَا رَبَّ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ
ya rabba al`alamina
O Lord of the worlds!
