Sorry if this topic offends anyone, but this is an issue I have from time to time.  I spoke with a doctor friend, and he told me to combine a fiber supplement and a gentle stool softener called Miralax in the US.  He recommended a fiber supplement from psyllium husk fiber.  Two teaspoons of fiber with 1 table spoon (or half a capful) of the stool soften, once daily, with a lot of water.  It has helped a lot.  

I normally drink lots of water, but in Ramadan I just get very dehydrated with my work.  Supposedly this combination works well together.

If you're a Desi, eating something that has Desi Ghee in it also works well for constipation. 

Personally, caffeine related products work wonders for me.
