Ramadhan 19: Hurr and Ibn-Muljim moment

Salam dears- 

While talking with kids tonight on the 19th Ramadhan events, gave them a small talk on luring of the woman (Dunya) who had promised Ibn-Muljim herself for Mehr of the assassination of Ameer ul Momineen (عليه السلام). We talked on how he was a disgruntled soldier in Imam’s army, and how his lack of conviction in Imam’s cause and his infatuation of the woman got the better of him. 
 

We also talked about Hurr (عليه السلام) and how he overcame his desire for certain promotion, and lots of wealth and honors in king’s court and chose to sacrifice himself at the feet of Sayed ush Shohada (عليه السلام). 
 

We talked on how each one of us would definitely get our Hurr and Ibn-Muljim moment - through our infatuation for him or her, for certain career, for some job offer we ought not to take, for certain compromise on our deen to get ahead, or to save face or friendships. 
 

Writing it here for a reminder for myself and for all of you, watch out for your Hurr and Ibn-Muljim moment. That test is coming since it’s promised in Qur’an. 
 

Do people think that they will be let go merely by saying: “We believe,” and that they will not be tested? For We indeed tested those who went before them. Allah will most certainly ascertain those who spoke the truth and those who lied.” (29-2,3)

MashaAllah, nice reminder. 

I feel that for us Muslimin and maybe Mu'munin it is even more difficult not to go Ibn Muljam than to go Hurr.
