My office is 40 miles from where I live, but I don't go there every day. I go once a month. What do I do about fasting? I will arrive there before Asr and leave before maghrib.

I hope this helps:

Ruling 1690. If a fasting person travels after ẓuhr, he must, based on obligatory precaution, complete his fast; and in such a case, it is not necessary for him to make up that fast. If he travels before ẓuhr, then based on obligatory precaution, he cannot fast on that day, particularly if he had made the intention to travel the night before.

Question: I have to study and go to university in the month of Ramadhan, can I break my fast in order to better concentrate during the exams?

Answer: It is obligatory to observe fast and it is not permissible to break it for the said reason. However, it is permissible to go out of the city with the intention of traveling as far as 44 kilometers which is the required distance for a traveler to break his fast. He should observe the qadha of that day after the month of Ramadhan and there is no kaffara for breaking the fast.

One should travel 44 kilometers to break his fast. If the outward and return distances make 44 km, he should break his fast. Remember, the beginning of 8 farsakh (44 km) should be calculated from a point beyond which he will be deemed a traveler, and this point is represented by the last boundary of a city.

Salam if your office is out of your residual town in another city which if your  outward and return distances make 27 miles & you initiate your travel before Zuhr so then you can break your fast but you  "should observe the qadha of that day after the month of Ramadhan and there is no kaffara for breaking the fast."

Thanks @Shian e Ali @Ashvazdanghe

But isn't there also the issue of whether or not you go some place regularly and if you do the 44km rule no longer applies?

I was wondering whether the once-a-month angle falls under that.

Salam important points are place of destiny & time of travel which it's not a regular travel which traveling for more than ten days in a month counts as Kathir al Safar which you must preserve fasting full prayer & fasting but on the other hand if you travel lesser than 10 days in a month into your  workplace where is out of your residual city so then your prayer in working day will be broken & you can break your fast which you can hack fasting by traveling totally 27 miles (44 km) out of your residual city before Zuhr so then returning to your residual city after Zuhr so then go to your workplace after returning to city after Zuhr which traveling for skipping fasting is Makruh which you must make up Qadha of it after month of Ramadhan without paying Kafara.

Question: What is the ruling on traveling during Ramadan for a fasting person?

Answer: There is no problem, but if the travel is to escape fasting, it is makruh (disliked), and it is sufficient to make up one day for each day after the blessed month, and there is no expiation.

Question: I travel twice a week on Saturdays and Sundays and sometimes on Friday evenings. By chance, the place of work may be in the same suburb of the city. The places of travel are different cities, but the number of them is almost certain. My job is sales, and wherever there is an exhibition, the company I work for sends me to the exhibition site. My question is, what is the ruling on my prayers and fasting?

Answer: If you travel on average ten days a month (i.e. a distance of 22 kilometers or more), your prayers are complete on all trips and your fasting is also valid. And if it is less than eight days, your prayers are broken and your fasting is not valid. And if it is 8 or 9 days a month, add up the broken and complete prayers, and about the fasting be careful (make caution) about fasting and making up for it.
