I gain because my metabolism slows. Anyone know any tips for avoiding that?

Salaam sister, probably not anything that you don't already know. Keep protein intake high, complex carbs medium and stay away from simple carbs as much as possible. Also have an adequate water intake.

There's not a lot we can do otherwise considering we just can't eat for X amount of hours.

eat a small meals. your stomach will stretch less you'll be less hungry and eat less. have some strong coffee with you morning meal the caffiene will help if you don't use alot of sugar. If you need a lot of sugar to like the taste you can skip the coffee or just tuff it out and drink it even though you don't like it.

The problem is I do eat small meals.  I lose all energy and I gain weight.  I don't have sugar in my coffee nor eat much sugary food. By the third week of Ramadan, I have no appetite whatsoever.

Then that's just the way your specific body responds all you can do is lose the weight after.

I usually lose some weight but then gain it back a few weeks after Ramadan ends. It really just depends on the persons body, diet, and habits. Maybe even genetics come in play with losing weight. I personally recommend drinking 1-2 glasses of water before each meal(iftar-suhoor, whatever meal you are eating), because it helps fill you up, and makes you more full before you start eating your meal, causing you to eat less, and get hydrated.

Salam you must try natural sweet things likewise date or honey or dried mulberry  or dried fig specially date which eating it for Suhur has been highly recommended for month of Ramdan .

It is recommended to start Iftar by eating 2-3 dates, as it provides the body with sugar, helping restore low blood sugar after fasting all day. One of the most common reasons for headaches or dizziness during Ramadan is low blood sugar, which is why eating dates is very beneficial at the start of Iftar.

You need to consume about 2-4 servings of fruits per day. 2-3 pieces of dates are considered as one fruit serving and contain about 70 calories! Another way to add dates to your balanced diet is to incorporate them into your sweet recipes, this way you will replace some of the sugar as dates are naturally sweet and tasty.

What are the benefits of dates?

  • Provide vitality: being rich in calories and sugar (80% of the date is made of sugar), as well as being easily digested and absorbed, they provide you with an immediate source of energy
  • Rich in essential nutrients: dates contain 6 vitamins and 15 minerals and are especially rich in calcium, phosphorous, iron, magnesium and potassium
  • Full of fibre: this facilitates digestion and moderates bowl function, helping prevent constipation
  • Heart healthy: they have only traces of fat, are cholesterol free and can be consumed by all members of your family

The less good fats you eat, the more fat your body makes. The more good fats you eat, the less fat your body makes.

Example, high sugar, high carb, low fat meals, will have you eating more, craving more in order to hit that full feeling which probably won't last for long, and have you snacking some more. Insulin hormone will remain high on this kind of low calorie diet, forcing your body to constantly store more energy as body fat. If this is how you're starting and breaking your fasts, you're on your way to being nice and plumpy.

The opposite of what the medical establishment in your government is telling you how to eat is the way to go. The "calories." Take that word and put it in the garbage bin. Cholesterol, the more of it you eat from nature, the less your body makes. Example, butchered Meats, wild fish, eggs, high fat creams (10-35%), hight fat yogurts (6-10%), Butter and olive oil you better be putting on of everything, coconut oil, these are your friends. If you see low fat on a label, turn around and run the other way. The more of these you include in your diet, the smaller your plate size will be in order to hit that full feeling which will last for a very long time without cravings. Insulin levels in your body will remain low, forcing your body to burn fat as fuel. If you love coffee, drop 10-35% good cream in it, and skip the sugar in drinks. Sugar is best enjoyed after dinner like in as a well deserved dessert. It is unfortunate in today's world most people are eating and drinking desserts without even knowing it.

Don't take my word unless you believe it to be true. You must do your own research as I did.

Salaam, yeah I have to agree with this brother because generally, intermittent fasting, even for multiple days in a row, like 3 days no food at all and only water,/tea/electrolytes etc can make you lose your appetite, but generally it does not cause weight gain. So yeah I think this is just your bodys specific response.

I don't usually eatt during daylight hours normally because of stomach issues but what gives me the most problem is not water during the day. The water no water is the most difficult for me. So it's not a weight issue for me.
