Bashar betrayed his own country, there is no excuse, he will hide in shame in Moscow. 

Hafez has a lot of blood on his hands, I should know this because we had a lot of horror stories in Lebanon. However to be fair, about the 1982 massacre, the muslim Brotherhood did commit massacres beforehand. The massacre itself however was inexcusable and the torture by the cia. It shows how brutal hafez was. 

 

Bashar tried improving the nation and he was a major improvement over his tyrannical father, even by 2011 outlets like al Jazeera pointed out Bashar was popular. He however still had prisons that were overcrowded full of abuse. What was good about him, was the fact that he stood in the way of al quaeda taking over Syria, or Israel and America controlling Syria or Syria turning into an unstable mess like lybia.

I get that his father died and the throne was originally meant for his brother...he (Bashar) initially wanted to be a medical doctor and because of circumstances beyond his control he found himself inheriting his father's legacy...I can (also) understand him becoming weary of fighting the good fight for 15 years and becoming tired and fatigued...he should have bowed out gracefully with honor and dignity and handed the reigns of power to his second or third in command (i.e. someone capable and trustworthy)...someone who would carry on fighting and supporting the Resistance Axis...if he took a bribe (and the evidence seems to be pointing in that direction) then he'll have to spend the rest of his life looking over his shoulder...the Sunni world hates him for murdering tens of thousands of their compatriots...and now the Shi'i world hates him because of his ultimate betrayal...he's not welcome in the Western world or the Muslim world...that pretty much leaves Cuba, Venezuela, China or Russia for a domicile...and I'm pretty sure Putin isn't thrilled with him because of his selfish behavior and stealthy maneuvers and jeopardizing Russian military lives in Syria...IRI should start up a specialized revenge squad like the Israelis to deal with traitors and past grievances

The fellow even betrayed his own family and left his brothers in the lurch, what else do you expect from him?

Let's see how much his media-savvy Westernized wife can salvage the situation for him.

Here is a reason why I can't be hopeful regarding Syria:

Just look at the language of this al-Jawlani guy. 

 

And then we find people celebrating this guy. They're literally celebrating yet another puppet, who will turn their country into a joke. O sorry, the country is already a joke and has lost all its military abilities. 

What a sad state of affairs. Let this be a lesson for all Arabs in the region. You will end up being even bigger jokes, if you continue in your vain and don't reform yourself and your mindset.

I would say we need the following realizations:

- Realizing the importance of justice on the level of a society and its implementation upon all inhabitants without differentiation 

- Realizing the importance of science and trying to get to the point, where one is able to produce technology oneself and not simply importing everything from other countries

- Realizing that simply copying the West and their values is not the solution, because it will just lead to further problems in the society as it's alien to us and because the West itself will face major problems in the future due to their ideological war on all values connected to building a proper family 

 

If Arabs keep on with their defeatist mentality and simply keep on accepting the status quo and do not try to take any of the Asbab that Allah ta'ala has created, they will see much worse days. 

 

And there is one thing that I forgot: Being critical and not looking at history through rose-tinted glasses would also help a lot. Not everything that happened in our history was great and as long as we're unable to call a mistake as a mistake, then how will we able to correct it?

Like him or not, I think Gaddafi has some wisdom in him and did not deserve the death he got (I am not aware of his policies or crimes)

I really don't know what to hope or to have a hope. I don't have enough knowledge religiously, politically to make a reasonable analysis  on the question that we should be hopeful.

I Pray to God Hasten the Appearance of Imam Mehdi ((عليه السلام)) to end the wars, to end the oppression against the Shia, other minorities.

People who say "this is a lost cause" fail to realize that zionosm is an existential threat to the entire middle east, they lie to themselves by saying "if we didn't give zionists the jusfication, they would have left us alone". To thoses people, please explain to me what's happening in Syria? The government hasn't even been given a chance to form and Israel violated Syria in every conceivable way possible by giving the most terrible justification that I heard in my entire life.

 

We don't have a choice, it's us or them, their objective is colonialism, the same terrible justification they gave to steal palestine, they will give to steal Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, etc... everyone 100 years ago thought it was insane and a conspiracy theory to think Israel was going to exist, what happened? Very bold statement, considering the fact that throughout much of history, Shia ulama emphasised quietism and staying away from this dunya’s political power. It was always a Sunni thing to rule in this dunya, while giving up on akhira. If you seek a cause, Shias of Bahrain and Azerbaijan are screaming for help.

I would also like to say to our brother @Abu Nur that Syria can't do anything to Iran and maybe Iraq but they might pose a threat to Lebanon ( Hezbollah ).

Wa Aleikum Salaam, I was correct here because they use the kurds of Syria to prepare to attack Iran. Also don't forget the isis fighters/prisoners who were supposedly moved.

otherwise what happened in 1982 or maybe even earlier

They should have pursued a more reconciliatory policy towards NATO post 1990 , Israel and still maintained cordial relations with Russia 

they could have been the catalyst for Iranian republic to reach entente with west too by late 90s or atleast post 2001 

fall of Syria to jihadist is the biggest blow to Muslim world in last 10 yrs
