Why do we pray

Salam i am preparing a PowerPoint about prayer and i but some questions, one of which is the importance of salah and why do we pray, to be honest i cant answer this question myself and need to know why we pray to further teach about this topic 

if anyone can come up with an answer regarding how we pray that will be really appreciated

One of the most important reason of prayer is a constant reminder to a universal goal of making life in accordance with divine laws which will bring both prosperity and peace for all of the creatures of the world. If you do not pray daily, it might happen that you forget the importance of this universal message and lose course to achieve those objectives.
