:salam:

Haha. I had posted a picture of mine, but it got rejected for its size. So indeed my thread got a bit ruined.

Here are more details :

I usually pray in 3 different places : our bedroom, living room (next to the bookshelf), dressing room. Depends on how busy the house is. So I do not have a dedicated space, as I wish I had.

As for the decoration, I use one of those red carpets with those semi-intricated-symetrical patterns, in which you can imagine faces of Shaytan (LA) while saying your tashahud. Probably made in China.

I have a turbah the size of my palm which unfortunately got broken and now has a nice elliptical shape and a brownish patina.

My aim, when we move to a bigger place, will be to have my own prayer space, with a view on a garden if possible. I will hang a prayer garment and put perfume at disposal so I will always pray with different clothes from those I wear during the day. That may bring more dedication to salah.

What about you, @Haji 2003 ?

Wassalam,

I pray at home too, more specifically, in the bedroom.

The rug I currently pray on was gifted by a friend.

The turbah I pray on is sourced from Karbala; I haven't been to ziyarah yet, just got it from a dealer who imports stuff from the shrine cities in Iraq, Iran and Syria.

I wish I could attend masjid but logistically that is not feasible. The nearest Shi'a masjid is quite a distance from my house, so I pray at home.

Do you always fold your prayer rug and put it away, or do you leave it on the floor ?

I sometimes fold it in two but leave it on the floor. So I do not have to bother taking it out and putting it back in place

Yes, I always fold it and put it away in a drawer.

Back in my university days, my  roommate had a pet cat, so keeping its fur off the rug was a motivation for storing the rug away. I just retained the habit.

Salaam,

It depends on where I am.

My life is split in two. Half the week im on my parents farm as theyre old and sick. I have a detached room there on the other side of the property. I have my prayer rug out all the time. Its a good reminder to me. I have cut and built a bookshelf into the space in the wall just above my prayer area where i keep sahifa sajjadiya, mafati al jinan, shining sun and others right within reach. I have a rawl with the Quran placed at the head of my prayer rug. Its very quiet and peaceful there, especially when it rains because the roof is tin so it sounds amazing. All windows have views of trees, hill sides, bird bath, garden area, etc.  I sometimes light a candle for magrib prayer as it adds to the peace.

When im in the city, i also leave my prayer rug out but the only thing similar to my place on the farm is i have a rawl w quran to my left as im cramped in a corner with a portable AC in front of me. The windows are closed cuz PeOpLe outside can see in -.- so its not near as peaceful.
