Assalamu 3laykum

I know that in Islam a man must be wealthy (or at least able to eventually become wealthy) to get married. I find myself disinterested in all careers. I try to force myself to study computer science but it does not interest me. I find this subject boring. Only studying because few majors pay enough to get married these days and this is one of them.

I am not very socially skilled so I don't think medical careers are a good match for me. I honestly have zero clue what I want to study. Because I rely on financial aid I have to decide almost immediately. I like the idea of studying architecture or urban planning but these fields are much harder to get into. I am good at math alhamdulillah but I struggle in every other subject. What should I study?

You do not have to be wealthy to get married.  If you are not wealthy, some fathers will reject your proposal, but not all will.  You have to be mature, settled, and reliable, as well as willing to treat a wife well.

You will not be successful if you dislike your work.  You should study something that you think you would want to spend your entire life doing.

Salaam Alaykum,

If you enjoy mathematics there are countless jobs that you can branch into with a Mathematics based degree, as you want to make a decision based on outcome salary here is a list of jobs for Maths Majors along with Salary, maybe this can help you come to some understanding. https://www.payscale.com/college-salary-report/common-jobs-for-majors/math

I know computer science as a degree itself can seem tedious or boring however there are areas of work this can lead into which can be especially interesting including AI, Cyber security, Data Analytics etc. These jobs require precision and focus, as well as spotting trends and having to identify anomalies etc. and without being a customer based job as a lot of these type of jobs are Remote. If you enjoy architecture, even with a computer related degree there is jobs such Network design engineer where you can implement and design topology of an organization's network set-up. Try to look at modules you enjoy within maths, then research what that type of job uses that mathematics.

Remember having money is never a means to an end, it can never bring you what you think it can. Even if you have the highest paying salary job it comes with a lot of commitment, stress etc. Although yes having money does solve many problems, the more humble lifestyle we live as that of our Prophet Muhammad(sawa) and Ahlulbayt(عليه السلام) the better, and using our wealth to help others who are more unfortunate than us. Ultimately if you want wealth aim for that goal, to help others.

I will link duas you can recite to increase your rizq(sustenance) https://www.duas.org/rizq.htm These supplications used for the right intentions then Allah(سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) is sure to bestow you with the wealth you seek.

May Allah(سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) make your future bright, and help you to achieve all your honourable goals.

Math in high school is nothing. I will warn you that math will become hard from third year to master second year. This means that you must take it seriously and spend time if you are interested in math.

If you're not interested in a subject, what are you interested in doing for the world? Teachers like to educate, doctors want to heal people, police like to defend (in theory). Is there a cause that you are passionate about? Do you want to help the poor? The elderly? Teach people?
