Dear people. Hope you can help me with this questions. I am about to enter an engagemang with a sunni partner. We are going to have a shia sheikh in our Nikah. My questions is, is it common for shia sheikh to mention during his speech what jurisprudece the marriage contract Will be based on? Would be helpful somebody could give us an example of how the speech script of a shia sheikh may be like during Nikah. Thank you!

Salam there is no difference between Sunni & Shia Nikah formula so therefore usually a Shia Sheikh just mentions it that he is doing based on Sunnah of prophet Muhammad (pbu).

I'd like to point out that in Shia Nikah, it is obligatory precaution to recite the seegha/formula in Arabic. Only allowed in translation if the bride and groom or neither of their wakeels/agents can recite Arabic. Furthermore, when the formula is recited, the niyyah/intention of marrying the two by the agent or the bride and groom when they recite, need to have the intention.

In Sunni Nikah, the appointed agent from girl's side says basically the same thing but in their own language (which is obviously not always Arabic), "I am doing nikah of so and so girl with you", to the groom and he says, "I accept". They also don't have the intention clause as far as I am aware. I mean there was this whole thing that came up a few months ago in Pakistan where they declared that nikahs done in the dramas are all valid and so are all divorces...

So while this Nikah will be okay for anyone following Sunni sect, I'd err on the side of caution when it comes to someone Shia.

The Khutba of Nikah as well as the Nikah itself, the seeghas/formula, will all be in Arabic. There will be no mention of sect. but our Khutbah of Nikah is a little different and anyone who understands Arabic will know that blessings are being sent on:

May prayers and salutations be upon His Progeny, the Purified, the Immaculate, free from sin, victims of oppression

While some may make mention of Amir al Momineen Imam Ali (عليه السلام) and after Nikah dua also makes mention of Imam Ali (عليه السلام) and Syeda Fatima (sa).
