Salam Alaiykum,

As the title says, I'm 27 years old and I've been trying to freelance in a skill I've learned by spending a year as I couldn't secure a good CGPA at my university so i thought i should learn a skill and start freelancing, while I was trying to free lance i started having mental health issues because i had not seen any success so far, all my friends were earning and i was unemployed that caused further more stress and negative thoughts started in my head and recently they got worst i felt like i might have a mental disability, I've never felt like this before until recently, i saw things getting worst, so i developed the courage and told my parents about it, my mother said 'I've never shown symptoms of any disabilities since my child hood so i should stop focusing on my thoughts' i love studying stuff but not school related although if explained properly i can attempt exams and secure reasonable marks a part from that my father wasn't happy with what i told them and started scolding me, saying he had hopes from me and i achieved nothing, he started asking some history questions from me and when i couldn't answer he sort of acted like he's disappointed me, now I'm hopeless I can't tell anyone anymore other than self diagnose myself!, now I actually believe I might be mentally or intellectually disabled although i have never shown symptoms since my child hood. I started walking at 13 months and started talking by age of 2 and would sit without support by 4 months still i believe something might be wrong with me!

Salam it's signs of deep depression when you have compared yourself with others in matter of success & having business which you must just continue your way & try to improve your social skill & being more in contact with muslim community which inshaAllah you will find your success later than other but don't lose your hope to Allah & ask him to increase your rizq through recommended Islamic procedures likewise remaining awake between morning prayer & dawn & making dua for increasing your Rizq  during this time.

 Duas for Rizq- Sustenance

How can I address my mental health concerns and seek support if my family is dismissive or unsupportive of my struggles?

Not sure there is an Islamic site for mental health. You can google for local mental health websites near you. One that I saw yesterday is called 7cups.com and of course they have licensed therapists who you can connect with for a low monthly fee, but I saw that you can chat for free with counselors and volunteers.

Nobody should feel that they are alone in this world. Isn't that why we are here at ShiaChat? We want to reach out to others and help them if we can. "...Allah loves those who do good." Holy Qur'an 3:148
