Will or can Converts to Shia be one of the 313?

Can or Will converts to Shia Islam be one of the Mahdis 313?  Could this be possible if they have strong faith?

Also remember that along with the 313 brothers there will be 50 sisters. It's not just males who will get the honor of helping Imam Mahdi AJ.

Also, all these honored people will have assistants to help them. Islam is a way of life and is an organization where everyone who is able will be allowed to help, inShaAllah.

If anything, isn't converting into a religion rather than being born into it a sign of generally stronger faith? (although, I'm not doubting the faith of those born into the religion at all.)

It is. 

"Learn your religion, do not inherit it." Imam Ali (عليه السلام) 

Many who are born into a religion don't learn it, they inherit it and take it lightly. Those who convert, convert after learning and are generally the most practicing.
