Salam alaikum. Welcome to shiachat.

Yes you can and it is highly recommended.

I think he means like sunnis instead of combining them into 3 times.

Ayatullah Sistani

Question :

Why do Shiites combine their prayers most of the time? Is it permissible to do so?

Answer :

It is permissible to combine Zuhr and Asr prayers and to perform them separately as it is permissible in both manners. It is narrated that the Holy Prophet of Islam ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) offered his prayers in both combined as well separate manners. He combined his prayers without being in an urgent situation like war or storm.

According to the traditions of the prophet ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) and imam (عليه السلام), it is mustahabb (highly recommended) to pray the daily prayers at five times, although performing them together (dhuhr and asr together and maghrib and isha together) is also permissible. The Shia and Sunnis differ here; the Shia say it is permissible (to combine) although separating them is mustahabb (highly recommended).
