In the name of Allah,

I have a question.

We all understand interest is Harram i.e. having a fixed ammount someone pays for money you lend.

However, what if you invest in a business and say, give $5000 dollars.

The company says, because you've invested in us, every month we will give you a percent of our profits, up to a maximum of 2% but it can be anywhere from 0-2%. If we make a loss you get nothing. If we make half what we hope we will give you 1% of your investment.

Is this really Riba? I want to avoid usury.

Sounds just like stock.

It sounds like dividends from stock no?

The profit you get will be based on how much you invested. The ammount is NOT fixed , the profit ammount varies depending on how much they make, but it will be a sliding percent of what you put in.
