Salaam, sorry, i dont know who this author is but what i do know is Reality/Pure Existence/Allah(سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) has been around a LOT longer, since pre eternity,  so the concept of wahdatul wujud is not something that "came into shiaism" from anyone-it has always been and always will be the Reality of which creation manifests from. (The Necessary Existent)

The author quoted simply doesnt understand things. There were things Aristotle, Plato, Socrates etc. said that are true, and just because the same truth is in islam and shiaism doesnt mean one came from the other.

All schools of sufism trace their lineages back to Imam Ali(عليه السلام) except one (dont remember who they are) and Imam Ali(عليه السلام) learned islam and spirituality at rhe foot of the Prophet (SAWS) and Allah(سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) so sufism didnt come out of Ismaili Shiaism. It all came from the Prophet(Saws) to Imam Ali(عليه السلام) then to his descendents and was disseminated through Imam Jaffar Sadiq(عليه السلام) who then taught his students, some of who went off to form the 4 Sunni Madhabs, but yea, i dont know how this author arrives at the conclusion hes arrived at...he should reach out to the hawzahs in Qom and ask someone there before writing books about something that even  lay people know is incorrect:/

Something that i probably SHOULD mention is that sufism is not irfan although sufism has some aspects that are the same as irfan, because again, Truth is Truth.

Salam respectfully for better clarification Irfan  came  from " Prophet(Saws) to Imam Ali(عليه السلام) then to his descendents......" as you have mentioned which it has been deviated under guise of sufism (صوفیسم) as doing weired rituals & wearing coarse fabric/clothes from wool which name of sufism has came from wearing coarse fabric/clothes (صوف) as a symbole of opposing pleasure of world which this deviation has been criticized by Ahlulbayt (عليه السلام) specially since era of Imam Sadiq (عليه السلام) .
