Having trouble believing in an afterlife

So I'm Muslim. Haven't been praying lately, but still Muslim. And ever since I was little, I go to bed prepared to never wake up. I think it's been helpful to keep things grounded as I'm constantly reminding myself of death.

As I've been pondering about death more recently, I noticed that I don't truly think there's an afterlife. I believe in God, but when I think deeply about death, I'm having trouble concluding to the notion that there's something after it.

When this comes up, sometimes I watch/read about New Death Experiences. These stories though don't prove an afterlife, and do differ to one another based off your religious beliefs. It's like a very intense dream. NDE's - to me anyways - prove that death is a peaceful transition, but not so much if there's an afterlife.

Can anyone tell me why they believe in an afterlife? Particularly as Muslims. Any literature that touches on why it's logical to believe in an afterlife?

Because it’s already mentioned in Quran, and the prophet ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) already talked about it many times.

Its easy for me to believe in afterlife.

Simple reasons:

Oppressors should be punished for the crimes their committed.

The innocents and true believer should be rewarded for their belief in God & continue to believe in him during difficult times. They did listen to God, did the religious obligations e.g. prayers, helping the needy etc. They repented, overcame their worldy desires. They did not harm God prophets. So these people deserve to be rewarded in the afterlife.

If there is no afterlife life. Then there is no point of heaven and hell to be existing. If there is no afterlife, well what was the purpose of sending prophets and guidance to people. If there is no afterlife life then oppressors wont see their punishment and believers wont get rewarded or get a good life better than the lives they had on earth.

Therefore i find very easy to believe in the afterlife.
