In a significant escalation of the ongoing conflict in the Gaza , Yemen's Ansarullah movement declared war against Israel's Zionist regime.

Brigadier General Yahya Saree, the spokesman for the Yemeni armed forces, made a dramatic announcement from the capital city, Sana'a, on Tuesday, vowing strong support for the Palestinian people in the Occupied Territories.

Operation in solidarity with Palestine

General Saree stated that Yemen had launched a substantial number of ballistic and cruise missiles, along with numerous drones, targeting various locations in the Palestinian Occupied Territories. He emphasized that this operation was the third in a series of actions to support their Palestinian brethren.

"The position of our Yemeni people towards the cause of Palestine is fixed and principled, and the Palestinian people have the full right to defend themselves and use their full rights," General Saree declared.

Condemning Gaza invasion

Furthermore, General Saree condemned the ongoing Gaza invasion, alleging that it was conducted with the support of the United States and the involvement of certain regimes.

Yemen's armed forces executed their duty by launching ballistic and cruise missiles at enemy targets in the Occupied Territories, he said.

General Saree underlined Yemen's steadfast commitment to the Palestinian cause, stating that this marked the third operation in support of the Palestinians in Gaza in the past three weeks. He also vowed that Yemen would continue to conduct more precise missile and drone attacks unless Israel's aggression ceased.

"The Gaza invasion is carried out with the support of the United States and the involvement of some regimes," General Saree emphasized.

New player in conflict

With this declaration of war, Yemen has officially entered the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, raising the stakes in an already volatile region. The launch of a substantial number of ballistic missiles and drones underscores their commitment to supporting the Palestinian people in their struggle.

In a stern warning, General Saree stated, "We will continue to carry out higher quality attacks using missiles and drones until Israel’s aggression stops."

Can't vouch for the accuracy

The analysis argues that the US Navy can't hang around for very long if it engages Houthis.

Biden prepares to launch missile strike on Houthi rebels amid crisis in Red Sea

Joe Biden is drawing up plans to launch military strikes against Houthi sites in Yemen following a number of rebel attacks in the Red Sea.

Chiefs are believed to be preparing to intervene against the Iran-backed group after several-Israel linked ships were struck.

Shipping delay concerns continue to grow after BP paused operations through the Red Sea.

More attacks are expected in the world’s busiest shipping lanes as Houthis vow to continue their missile and drone attacks in sympathy with the Palestinian people.

A US-led coalition of 10 countries have confirmed that they would send several warships to the region.

Britain has joined the US’s Operation Prosperity Guardian to protect cargo ships.

It comes after the British oil giant said the suspension comes amid a “deteriorating security situation” with tensions in the Middle East.

The Dwight D. Eisenhower aircraft carrier has been moved to the Gulf of Aden, off the coast of Yemen where the crisis has been taking place.

But a senior official told Iranian TV that the Houthis will respond against any country that strikes Yemen directly.

"We take the threat from the Houthis very seriously, but we’re not going to telegraph any movements in advance," a US defence official told The Telegraph.

VideoBlue.svgRelated video: Who are the Houthis, and why do they target Red Sea ships? (The Washington Post (Video))

"US forces have the inherent right to self-defence, and if we do decide to take any action against the Houthis then we will do so at a time and place of our choosing."

Biden has been urged to carry out a military strike by former Pentagon officials including Gen Kenneth F McKenzie Jr.

On Tuesday White House national security spokesperson John Kirby said “attacks on ships in the Red Sea have to stop”.

Kirby said: “Both countries are significant partners with the United States on a range of issues across the region… they should speak to their level of participation.”

If the US chose to launch military action against the Houthis, it is assumed that they would target missile and drone launch sites in territory that the Iran-backed group holds in northern Yemen.

Sea piracy involves attacking AND/OR ROBBING a ship, from what I understand they didn't rob the ship or attack it for their own private gain as "pirates", they attacked it and arrested the people inside the ship for sailing an israeli linked ship, essentially due to war reasons.

Wether this is unlawful or not is another thing.

Piracy is more like what america did when they "seized" an iranian ship carrying oil and took the oil inside of it for themselves, they used sanctions to justify what they did from what I remeber.

I'm just using definitions here.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has funded politically-motivated assassinations in Yemen

Quote

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has funded politically-motivated assassinations in Yemen, a BBC investigation has found, exacerbating a conflict involving the Yemeni government and warring factions which has recently returned to the international spotlight following attacks on ships in the Red Sea.

Counter-terrorism training provided by American mercenaries to Emirati officers in Yemen has been used to train locals who can work under a lower profile - sparking a major uptick in political assassinations, a whistleblower told BBC Arabic Investigations.

The BBC has also found that despite the American mercenaries' stated aim to eliminate the jihadist groups al-Qaeda and Islamic State (IS) in southern Yemen, in fact the UAE has gone on to recruit former al-Qaeda members for a security force it has created on the ground in Yemen to fight the Houthi rebel movement and other armed factions.

Quote

The majority of those assassinated were members of Islah - the Yemeni branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. It is a popular international Sunni Islamist movement which has never been classified by the US as a terror organisation, but is banned in several Arab countries - including the UAE where its political activism and support for elections is seen by the country's royal family as a threat to their rule.

Increasing support for AnsarAllah in wider Arab world

Obviously, the FT (as a member of the MSM) is not going to give AnsarAllah a free pass and the word rights comes up 6 times in the article and the word repressive twice. As if some how Arab support might diminish if this were more widely known.

I am not sure about that logic, it's not as if the countries who are doing nothing to help the Palestinians are beacons of liberalism.

The Houthis have been gaining new fans across the Arab world, many of whom know little about the Islamist group’s history or increasingly repressive tactics in their home country. Their popularity, which seems to transcend religious divisions, has surged since the war between Israel and Hamas erupted in October, and the movement began its brazen missile and drone attacks on ships traversing the Red Sea.

Salam , even if we consider it true , so then Sham won't be safe too which hadits about importance of Sham have been forged or fabricated during cursed Umayyads and the Marwanids ruling , forging & fabrication hadiths about superiority of  Sham  over Hijaz  (Mecca & Medina) have been done ;  which it has been initiated by people  likewise Ka'b al Ahbar for praising Jerusalem over Ka'ba which has been located in Sham ; so then cursed Umayyads and the Marwanids have supported fabrication of Hadiths about importance & safety of Sham region for justification of their ruling over Sham region .

Banu Umayyad forgeries

Since Sham fell into the hands of the Umayyads, they tried to gain a lot of credit for themselves and their region of rule. Therefore, they forged many hadiths. Among these sanctities was Jerusalem, whose validity was accepted in Islam, the Umayyads and the Marwanids also tried to increase its validity by falsifying hadiths about Jerusalem. In contrast to them, the Shiite imams also tried to fight against these fake hadiths. In the narrative of this forgery and the fight against it, it is clearly seen:

Fabricated Hadiths

A person told Imam al-Baqir (a) that "Ka'b al-Ahbar said, 'the Ka'ba prostrates every morning for Jerusalem'". The Imam (a) asked the man about his view of what Ka'b had said. The man said, "Ka'b al-Ahbar has told the truth. What he said is true." The Imam (a) said, "you are wrong, and Ka'b al-Ahbar has lied just like you."[30]

Al-'Allama al-'Askari believes that stories of the Jews, praises of the People of the Book, and praises of Jerusalem found their way into Islamic sources through Ka'b al-Ahbar.[31]

Quote

Ibn Kathir, an exegete of the Qur'an, writes with regard to one of the Isra'iliyyat, "these are what People of the Book have cited from their own books, such as hadiths from Ka'b and Wahb —may God be lenient towards them for the Isra'iliyyat they have propagated among Muslims— including stories of Children of Israel; some of these did exist, some did not and some others were distorted."[32]

Rashid Rida, a contemporary Sunni exegete of the Qur'an, believes that many hadiths regarding the material, the size, the width and the length of Moses's Tablets were false Isra'iliyyat, holding that such stories were propagated among Muslims by Ka'b al-Ahbar and others like him.[33]

Tensions Rise as Houthi Rebels Launch Missile Attacks on US Ships in Strategic Gulf of Aden

Story by Mia Lee  6h

Yemen’s Houthi rebels have escalated their maritime offensive by launching missile attacks on two US naval vessels in the strategic waters of the Gulf of Aden, according to statements from the group’s military spokesman. The vessels, identified as the Sea Champion and the Navis Fortuna, were targeted by “naval missiles” in operations that were described as “accurate and direct.” The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency has acknowledged an incident 100 nautical miles east of Yemen’s port of Aden and has reported that an investigation is underway.

The decision by the Houthis to deploy unmanned underwater vessels (UUVs) introduces a new threat dimension to the already volatile maritime environment. This advanced capability complements the group’s existing arsenal of ballistic missiles and small watercraft and is a significant cause of concern for maritime security in the region. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has underscored the imperative of protecting freedom of navigation in the area, asserting that its “actions will protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer and more secure for US Navy and merchant vessels.”

The recent developments underscore the persistent challenge that the Houthi rebels, who have received backing from Iran, present to international shipping lanes. The Red Sea, a critical chokepoint for global trade, has seen a spate of attacks which have deterred some shipping companies from utilizing this vital passageway.

The situation further intensified with reports of a missile attack on a Belize-flagged ship, the Rubymar, traveling through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. The ship was described as sustaining catastrophic damage and its crew had to abandon the vessel, which has been confirmed to be at anchor with all crew members reported safe.

The Houthis, not stopping at these maritime disruptions, also claimed to have shot down an American MQ-9 Reaper drone. Although the US military has not immediately acknowledged this particular downing, it has been previously confirmed that the Houthis have the capability to and have downed US drones in the past.

CENTCOM has responded to these aggressive acts by conducting targeted airstrikes on Houthi military equipment, including the first observed deployment of a Houthi UUV since the rebels began their offensive on international shipping in November.

These incidents and the ongoing airstrikes form a cycle of escalation in a conflict that is increasingly impacting both regional stability and international trade. The Houthis have justified their actions by linking them to a broader regional conflict, including the war in Gaza, and have vowed to continue their attacks despite military retaliation.

The Houthis’ willingness to engage in such high-stakes maritime aggression reflects the intricate nature of the conflict in Yemen and the broader regional power struggles. With the Red Sea’s strategic importance for international commerce, the consequences of these disruptions reverberate beyond the immediate theater of conflict, drawing in global powers and impacting international shipping and trade routes.

As military authorities provide assistance and security firms monitor the volatile situation, the safety of the crew and the future implications of such attacks remain of paramount concern to the international community. The incidents have not only highlighted the prowess of the Houthi’s military capabilities but also drawn attention to the delicate security of one of the world’s key maritime passages.

Yemen’s Houthis claim attacks on Israeli, US ships

Yemen’s Houthi rebels say they have targeted what they claim to be an Israeli cargo ship, the MSC Silver, in the Gulf of Aden near the entrance to the Red Sea with a number of missiles.

Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea did not elaborate, but in a statement on Tuesday said the group had also used drones to target a number of United States warships in the Red Sea and Arabian Sea as well as sites in the southern Israeli resort town of Eilat.

However, the British maritime security firm Ambrey said the container ship targeted by the Houthis on Tuesday was Liberia-flagged and headed for Somalia.

“The Houthis characterised the vessel as Israeli. The operator was publicly listed as [in] cooperation with ZIM and regularly called [at] Israeli ports,” the Ambrey advisory note said.

Zim Integrated Shipping Services Ltd, commonly known as ZIM, is a publicly held Israeli international cargo shipping company based in Israel.

The Houthis, who control Yemen’s most populous regions, have attacked vessels with commercial ties to the US, the United Kingdom and Israel.

Despite US-UK strikes on Houthi military sites in Yemen, the Iran-aligned Houthis have promised to continue targeting ships linked to Israel in solidarity with Palestinians until Israeli forces stop their war in Gaza.

“There is no danger to international or European navigation so long as there are no aggressive operations, and thus, there is no need to militarise the Red Sea,” Houthi spokesperson Mohammed Abdul Salam said in a post on X on Tuesday.

“What the world is impatiently waiting for is not the militarisation of the Red Sea, but rather an urgent and comprehensive declaration of a ceasefire in Gaza, for humanitarian reasons that are clear to anyone.”

Two US officials also said on Tuesday that the Houthis had shot down a US military Mq-9 drone near Yemen, the second time they have shot down a US drone in recent months during a near-daily tit-for-tat between the rebels and US forces.

One of the officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said initial information showed the US drone, made by General Atomics, was hit near the Yemeni port city of Hodeidah on Monday. The official said information could change and did not say if the drone was in international airspace.

The second official said the drone was shot down by a Houthi surface-to-air missile fired from near Hodeidah.

The comments by the officials confirm a claim by the Houthis that they had shot down a drone near the city, which lies on the Red Sea.

The Houthis had said on Monday that they had attacked the UK-registered Rubymar cargo vessel in the Gulf of Aden, which was at risk of sinking, raising the stakes in their campaign to disrupt global shipping in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.

Houthi Missles Hits US Ship

Feb. 20 (UPI) -- Houthi rebels have attacked at least two more U.S.-owned commercial shipping vessels near Yemen, resulting in both sustaining minor damage and heightening already high tensions in the Middle East.

Meanwhile, the United States continues to strike Houthi targets in the civil war-torn country as it seeks to degrade the Houthis' abilities to attack commercial shipping vessels in the region.

The United Kindom Maritime Trade Operations said the attacks occurred Monday near the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Red Sea.

The latest incident occurred about 60 nautical miles north of Djibouti. The ship was hit by a drone, resulting in the vessel sustaining "superficial damage to the accommodation superstructure," it said, adding that its crew was reported safe and it was continuing to its next port of call.

U.S. Central Command seemingly identified the ship in a statement on Tuesday as the Marshall Islands-flagged, U.S.-owned bulk carrier M/V Navis Fortuna, which it said was struck by a drone at about 7:20 p.m. local time Monday resulting in the vessel sustaining only minor damage and it "continued on its voyage toward Italy."

That attack came hours after the Greek-flagged, U.S.-owned M/V Sea Champion was targeted by two anti-ship ballistic missiles fired from areas of Yemen under the Houthis' control between 12:30 p.m. and 1:50 p.m. as it was transporting grain to the Port of Aden near the Bab al-Mandab Strait, CENTCOM said.

CENTCOM confirmed that one of the missiles detonated near the vessel, causing it minor damage. It said the vessel's crew was still able to reach its destination with grain "for the benefit of the Yemeni people."

"Houthi aggression in the region has exacerbated already high levels of need in conflict-impacted Yemen, which remains one of the largest humanitarian crises in the world, with nearly 80 percent of the entire population needing humanitarian assistance," CENTCOM said in a statement.

"We are committed to countering the Houthis' malign activities, which directly endanger the imports of foodstuff and humanitarian aid to Yemen."

The Houthis have been attacking commercial as well as U.S. and British military vessels in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden in solidarity with the Palestinian people amid Israel's war against Hamas, another Iran proxy militia.

The United States and its allies have been responding to the attacks with those of its own since Jan. 11, stating that it is seeking de-escalation by degrading the Houthis' ability to strike ships.

CENTCOM said that overnight and into Tuesday it and coalition forces shot down 10 one-way attack drones in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden as well as struck a surface-to-air missile launcher. The USS Laboon also shot down an anti-ship cruise missile fired toward it from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen, it said.
