Meaning of أَلَمْ تَرَ & knowledge of Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)

Salam!

What does it means when Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) says "are you not aware" (أَلَمْ تَرَ) before mentioning any ancient event or incident? For instance:

أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى الَّذِي حَاجَّ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فِي رَبِّهِ أَنْ آتَاهُ اللَّهُ الْمُلْكَ إِذْ قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ رَبِّيَ الَّذِي يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ قَالَ أَنَا أُحْيِي وَأُمِيتُ ۖ قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ يَأْتِي بِالشَّمْسِ مِنَ الْمَشْرِقِ فَأْتِ بِهَا مِنَ الْمَغْرِبِ فَبُهِتَ الَّذِي كَفَرَ ۗ وَاللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ {258}

[Shakir 2:258] Have you not considered him (Namrud) who disputed with Ibrahim about his Lord, because Allah had given him the kingdom? When Ibrahim said: My Lord is He who gives life and causes to die, he said: I give life and cause death. Ibrahim said: So surely Allah causes the sun to rise from the east, then make it rise from the west; thus he who disbelieved was confounded; and Allah does not guide aright the unjust people.

Question here is that does the Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) had any prior knowledge (prior to gradual revelation or تنزيل) of how Ibrahim (عليه السلام) argued with Namrood?

If yes, does it means he (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) is benefitting from the full revelation at once or انزال?

Or does it mean that people are being addressed through Prophet Specifically those who have knowledge about Ibrahim (عليه السلام) and his arguments!!

Any idea?

Similarly, other verses:

أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ {6}

[Shakir 89:6] Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with Ad,

أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصْحَابِ الْفِيلِ {1}

[Shakir 105:1] Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with the possessors of the elephant?

I consider the link of such verses with the following verse:

وَقُلِ اعْمَلُوا فَسَيَرَى اللَّهُ عَمَلَكُمْ وَرَسُولُهُ وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ ۖ وَسَتُرَدُّونَ إِلَىٰ عَالِمِ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

Shakir: And say: Work; so Allah will see your work and (so will) His Messenger and the believers; and you shall be brought back to the Knower of the unseen and the seen, then He will inform you of what you did. (9:105)

As we already know that our prophet was a messenger when the Adam (عليه السلام) was between clay and water.

Similarly, we can move further to give thoughts to the verses that mention the prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) as witness over all  other witnesses:

فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جِئْنَا مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ بِشَهِيدٍ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ عَلَىٰ هَٰؤُلَاءِ شَهِيدًا

How will it be, then, when We bring from every people a witness and bring you as a witness against these? (4:41)

And strive hard in (the way of) Allah, (such) a striving a is due to Him; He has chosen you and has not laid upon you an hardship in religion; the faith of your father Ibrahim; He named you Muslims before and in this, that the Messenger may be a bearer of witness to you, and you may be bearers of witness to the people; therefore keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate and hold fast by Allah; He is your Guardian; how excellent the Guardian and how excellent the Helper! (22:78)

Now we can better understand the hadith of the prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) that I am the city of the knowledge and Ali (عليه السلام) is its Gate.

Salam maybe it gives some ideas

Analysis of Hadith-e-Nur – Introduction – Part 1

When Adam ((عليه السلام).) was created, this light was placed in his loin. When he was in the heavens, he carried this light with him. When Nuh ((عليه السلام).) embarked on the ark this light was in his back. When Ibrahim ((عليه السلام)) was thrown in the fire, he carried this light inside him. This light was transferred from pure loins to chaste wombs till it reached Hazrat Abdul Muttalib ((عليه السلام).). It was then divided into two parts. I was bestowed with Prophethood and Ali with Imamat.

Thus, this light was the cause of safety for Divine Prophets and Messengers of Allah (peace be on them all) from various examinations.

There are also several verses in the Holy Quran that point out to the sanctity of this light. We quote one of them.

A man asked the Holy Prophet ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم).a) about the following verse of Holy Quran:

He said: O Iblis what has prevented you from prostrating before the one whom I created with my hands, are you being proud or have you become of the elevated ones?

(Surah Suad (38): Verse 75)

The man asked – Who are these creatures who are more elevated than the angels?

He ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم).a) replied:

Quote

These are I, Ali, Faatemah, Hasan and Husain. We were extolling and praising Allah. The angels praised and glorified Allah after they heard us praising and glorifying Allah… Then Allah ordered the angels to prostrate before Adam. All of them obeyed His command except Iblis. Then Allah reprimanded him: You have acted with pride with respect to my command of prostration. Have you become one of those elevated people whose names are written on the throne?

(Tafseer-e-Burhaan by Sayyid Hashim Bahraani ((رضي الله عنه).), vol. 4, p. 684 from Fadhaael al-Shiah by Shaikh Sadooq ((رضي الله عنه).) who has recorded on the authority of Abu Saeed Khudri from the Holy Prophet ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم).a.))

@Ashvazdanghe, brother can you share how Ayatullah Javadi Amoli has viewed this matter? If you can share some text from his tafseer "Tasneem". I don't have access to his tafseer in English or Arabic.

Salam unfortunately it's only available in hard copy anyway currently Tafseer of verses of 253 to 286 are available in 12th volume of Tafseer of Tasneem .

Quote

The publication status of 62 volumes of Tafsir Tasnim has been published until Tir 1401. [42] And by the end of the Qur'an, it will reach about 80 volumes[43]. It's assumed that for the reason for this is the explanation of many interpretative issues in the first 15 parts, which do not need to be repeated in the subsequent parts so then first  15 subsequent parts will be published in 50 volumes so then next subsequent parts will be printed in 30 volumes  [44]

Tafsir Nemooneh

Quote

(Verse 258)- Abraham  against Nimrod the tyrant of his time! Following the previous verse, which spoke about the guidance of the believers in the light of the guardianship and guidance of the Lord, and the misguidance of the unbelievers due to following the Taghut, Allah mentions several examples, one of which is a clear example that is mentioned in this verse and that is the conversation and argument of Ibrahim, the idol-smashing hero. with Nimrod, the mighty man of his time, he says: "Have you not seen (are you not aware of) the one who argued and talked with Abraham about his Lord"(أَ لَمْ تَرَ إِلَی الَّذِی حَاجَّ إِبْراهِیمَ فِی رَبِّهِ).

And in one sentence, he points to the main motivation of this argument and says: "It was because Allah had given him the government" and due to a little capacity, he was intoxicated by the wind of pride and arrogance(أَنْ آتاهُ اللَّهُ الْمُلْکَ)..

And how many are those who are moderate people, good-natured, faithful and awake in their normal state, but when they reach wealth, position, and reputation, they forget everything.

Volume 1, p. 233

They leave and trample the most important sacred things! And then he adds: At that time when he asked Ibrahim (عليه السلام) who is your God to whom you invite? "Ibrahim said: He is the one who gives life and death."(إِذْ قالَ إِبْراهِیمُ رَبِّیَ الَّذِی یُحْیِی وَ یُمِیتُ).

In fact, Abraham (عليه السلام) proposed the greatest masterpiece of creation, the law of life and death, as a clear sign of Allah's knowledge and power.

But Nimrod the mighty took the path of deceit and sophistry and said, "I also give life and death" and the law of life and death is in my hands

But Abraham (عليه السلام) used another argument to thwart this conspiracy, so that the enemy could not deceive the naive about it, "Abraham said: Allah brings the sun (from the eastern horizon) (if you are telling the truth that the ruler of You are the universe) bring the sun from the west"!

It was here that "that disbelieving man was stunned and forworn"

Yes! "Allah does not guide the unjust people"(وَ اللَّهُ لا یَهْدِی الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِینَ).

And in this way, that drunken and proud man from the kingdom and position became silent and stunned and unable to say a word against the living logic of Ibrahim (عليه السلام).

addendum

In the previous verse, we read that Allah is the guardian of the believers and takes them out of the darkness and towards the light. This verse and the following verses present examples of Allah's guardianship and bringing them out of the darkness into the light.

It is stated in the historical narratives that Nimrod was one of the kings of Babylon and had a powerful government. He argued with Abraham about God. When Hazrat Ibrahim said: My Lord is the one who gives life and causes death, he said: I also give life and cause death. Then he ordered to bring two prisoners, released one and ordered to kill the other. When Ibrahim, peace be upon him, saw this sophistry and fallacy, what is this person's understanding of life and death and how he wants to distort the thoughts of others, he said: Allah  has placed the rising of sun from  the east, if you claim that You rule over the world of existence and everything is in your control and under your power, bring the sun out of the west! It was then that Nimrod was stunned and had no answer but silence.

1- Everything that everyone has belongs to him. Unbelievers also benefit from his blessings in this world, but they misuse it.

2- Power and government can cause arrogance and pride.

3- It is necessary to pay attention to public opinion and people's judgment. Although the phenomenon of life is one of the ways to know God and Nimrod's answer was not correct, but those debates and controversies did not answer the public thoughts.
