Hi,

I don’t believe aliens exist. I only believe that jinn and angels exist

Supposedly a "definitely not human" being came out of a crashed ufo in Las Vegas last month.  I only read of it yesterday. 

The universe is really big and it would be very strange if there were nothing else sentient out there.  But most if not all ufos are of earthly origin or are natural phenomena.

I thought those other intelligent beings that we, as Muslims, believe exist - are jinn?

That's one of them. I believe there are hadith where the Imam's are asked if there are other beings out there, and the answer was: Paraphrase: "Plenty"

Also Quran says: (42:29) And of His Signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth and the living creatures that He has spread out in them. He has the power to bring them together when He so wills.

One could argue that it's this heaven, but its plural: Samawat, which is heavens.

Also Al-Isra: 17:70: Indeed, We have dignified the children of Adam, carried them on land and sea, granted them good and lawful provisions, and privileged them far above many of Our creatures.

We  know animals, jinns, and angels are below humans, in rank(some humans at least). But in this Ayah it says those that are privileged are far above many of Our creatures (not all). So what are these creatures that even we might be below? No clue!

With jinn, at least, we know that their belief systems parallel ours e.g. those who believe and those who do not etc. and that they've been subservient to human Prophets and no Prophets who have been subservient to them. This is despite jinn having various physical attributes that are superior to us.

Unless these other (superior) beings follow a similar relationship to us that the jinn do, surely Islam faces an existential threat?

Those other beings might be 200 lightyears away.....we simply don't know anything about them other than that they might exist and they might be better than us.

The world over earth was before heaven came into existence. For example before this universe existed. There were angels

Basaair al-Darajaat: Mohammed ibn Haroun, from Abi Yahya al-Wasiti, from Sahl ibn Ziyad, from Ajlan Abi Saleh who said:

'I asked Aba Abdillah (عليه السلام) about the dome of Adam; I said to him, "Is this the dome of Adam?"

He said, "Yes, and Allah has many domes. As for behind this west of yours, there are thirty-nine more wests, white earths filled with creatures being enlightened by our [Ahlulbayt's] Light. They to not disobey Allah for the blinking of an eye. They don't know whether or not Allah created Adam. They are dissociating from fulan and fulan."

It was said to him, "How is this dissociation of theirs from fulan and fulan, but they don't know whether or not Allah created Adam?"

He replied by asking, "Do you know Iblees?"

It was said, "No, only by revelation."

He said, "But you have been commanded to curse and dissociate from him?"

It was said, "Yes."

He said, "That is how these have been commanded."

This hadeeth seems to acknowledge the existence of aliens, but there's always the possibility of fabrication. 

This sayyed on al-islam.org gives a more ambiguous answer:

[QUESTION]: Is the suggestion that aliens may exist on other planets aligned with the teachings of Islam or in contradiction to them?

[ANSWER]: Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) knows what He created and we do not know. We believe that the creation and the order is in the hands of Allah.(Al-A'raaf, 54).

We can not reject the possibility of creatures in other planets as we have no evidence suggesting impossibility of creatures in any part of the universe. No doubt our knowledge as ordinary human beings is limited but the question itself (Whether there are aliens on other planets or not) does not have direct effect on our religious duties and our day to day life. That is why we need not to focus on such issues more that believing that Allah creates whatsoever He wants and selects.(Al-Qassass; 68).

No.  I'm not afraid of any living being.  

I'd be cautious though.  Every time a more technologically advanced civilization encounters a less technologically advanced civilization, they wipe them out, either intentionally or through ignorance.

I think there are two distinct things we are talking about here. First is UAP (Unexplained aerial phenomenon, previously referred to as UFOs). Second is alien creatures, i.e. being from another planet or another dimension. 

As far as UAPs go, there is lots of evidence for this, going back many decades. These are aircraft that use a propulsion technology that is not known how it works. Some have said it could use an anti gravity field. 

As for aliens, I haven't seen credible evidence for it. Yes, they mentioned it at the hearings, but myself, I haven't seen to this day any solid evidence that aliens are actually visiting earth. Its not that I don't think they exist (hadith, like the one posted clearly say they exist), but I think they are too far away from us for them to reach us. 

BTW, for us Shia there is a simple, yet hypothetical explanation for UAPs. In many hadith, we read that Imam Mehdi is here with us on earth. He observes us and he travels in the earth. What if (and this is just hypothetical because I have no direct evidence for this) these UAP are actually our Imam(a.f.s) traveling and observing what is going on in earth ? It is very possible that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) gave him a technology , i.e. anti gravity fields, that are not available to us non masoom, generally.
