Hey everyone!

I was looking at a video of that orca that died I think or committed suicide, I am not sure which one it is.

Apparently she was in a cage for years, and I was thinking, when humans put animals in cages it really damages them. It is almost like a prison.

Imagine you were in a cage for years and years just walking around, shouldn’t this he haram?

Is there any Hadith's or fatwas on this?

Thank you everyone!

Salam, it is not haram, but it can be unethical and unjust to have a zoo, not just by visiting it. I also assume not all zoos are unjust or cruel to the animals they keep. You claim the orca committed suicide, how can one even prove that? Keeping animals in a tank or in a cage could be more beneficial than putting them out in an ecosystem where there life is constantly in danger and they have no food or care. As I said, it all depends on how well they are treated and cared for. Most animal displays at a zoo although enclosed have pretty huge areas..

Salam Promoted Stories. But it was on March 4, 1980, when Hugo's suffering came to an end, when he suffered a brain aneurysm. Animal activists claim his repeated bangs to the head contributed to his death, referring to it as him "committing suicide" from banging its head for 12 years trying to escape captivity I think it’s haram to leave such a big animal in a cage

There is no hadith or fatwa saying that zoo r haram, sadly. I personally will never visit a zoo since many of them are abusive to animals. We are not allowed to feed the animals nor give them water in a very hot weather. I am against visiting zoo for fun and purchasing animals.
