I agree in principle but psychologists train hard to do what they do.

Salam majority of psychologists have been trained based on refuting & neglecting religion based on teachings of Sigmund Freud & few older pre Freuds   based on  promotion of trinity although sometimes we can benefit from them anyway it really needs refining through Islamic spectrum in order to get rid of anti religion & trinitarian falsehood so then reshape new psychology through true Islamic teachings however talking of knowledgeable Muslim scholars doesn't mean intervening in  psychology but  on the other hand   maybe it can be initiating refining it & reshaping it based true Islamic teachings inshAllah.

US Atlantic Coast folks: keep an eye on that storm.  Make sure you know how to pray salat al ayat, have any necessary medication, food, and water, and be prepared to evacuate if it becomes necessary.

My neighbor's ducks and geese are going crazy today, and I've hardly seen any wildlife.  Maybe the animals know something that we don't yet know.

How do you cope with so many storms and tornados?

It's not so bad most of the time. The weather here is very mild and stable compared to the hilly inland places I've lived before, where we used to get ice storms, blizzards, and feet of snowfall, not to mention forest fires.

I'm much more worried about potential for tornadoes than hurricanes.  There have been serious tornadoes in this area, but not while we've lived here.

Praying for you all.

If a tornado does strike, do you have a way to stay safe in your homes like an underground tornado bunker?

Who is this "sheikh" ? What he's saying is blasphemy

He is saying the Imams are Allah, Imam Mahdi is the lord of the day of judgement etc.

Maybe make a thread with it so we can discuss it, rather than on thoughts as i would like to add points

We have a hallway at the center of the house which has no windows. That's our planned tornado zone. One of my adult kids lives in an adjacent structure. He will have to evaluate whether he can come to the much safer main house, or hunker down in his bathroom, which is on an exterior wall, but is at ground level and has no windows.

Rules-based order

Quote

This is incredible. This is Graham Allison, the Founding Dean of the Harvard Kennedy School of Government - who taught generations of US leaders - and former Assistant Secretary of Defense. Here is what he says on the "rules-based order": "We say we're the exceptional nation. What does that mean? That means we make the rules and you're supposed to obey the rules. But we don't obey the rules. So we say we're for the rules-based order. Excuse me the rules-based order was the basis with which we invaded Iraq? I don't think so. That we occupied Afghanistan? I don't think so. The US has made a lot of mistakes of unnecessary wars."

Poor woman drops dead during her engagement/wedding, death truly comes for you in the most unexpected way.

I wonder, is it God's mercy or just what's written

We had crazy weather here in SA. Rivers overflooded...we even had trees falling down.

I have some nice pics to show you of how sunny and beautiful it is now though. Will upload on my thread soon.

I do feel for people like @notme dealing with hurricanes, being afraid of tornados because those things are scary.

To folk in the US , is it true health insurance doesn't help much because you pay a lot out of pocket as a deductible first?

Yes, this is true.  You pay a thousand dollars or more per month for health insurance, then when you need to use it, you must first pay thousands in "deductibles " and "co-pay" and then there is a cap on what the company is willing to pay for your health procedures.  Health insurance in the US is a racket, but not having it, you can be denied even access to health care.

So for a family of four, how much would you pay a year?

If you then had appendicitis which can cost like over 100k , how much would you pay?

I don't even know.  Maybe someone else here can answer that question.

I've been poor enough to get state sponsored insurance or I've been uninsured most of my adult life.

Health insurance is big issue. I needed tooth implant and I did it in Iran. The flight ticket cost plus tooth implant was less than implant cost in US.

I know that those who work in big tech companies have awesome health insurance. Low deductible and not paying for insurance cause it comes with the job.

Awesome is relative.  It would be awesome if all our taxes paid for healthcare for us, instead of paying for mercenary contractors and spies to terrorize the world.

When I worked in engineering, employers paid half of the employee's insurance premium, but if they had family they had to pay full cost for their family's insurance.  Big companies totally could pay the full rate for their employees and the employees' families, but I've not heard of any who do.

There's HSA account that I wish I would know about it earlier. You can deposit up to $3850 each year from your pay check (I don't know how they came up with this number 3850). This money is tax free, so it will be deposited from your pay check to your HSA then your tax is calculated based on whatever remained. You can deposit $200 each month and it'll be $3600 by the end of the year. If someone usually pays 30% of his yearly salary for federal and state tax(combined), he/she can save 30%  on $3850. You can use it only in medical treatment things like visit cost, prescription, etc. Otherwise, there's a cost penalty.

It's small amount, I know.

It is my sincere hope in the future, Shia centres of worship become inclusive international centres.

Currently, you have a Afghani centre, a Pakistani centre, a Lebanese centre, an Iranian centre, a Nigerian centre.

These places are often just cultural heritage sites. People miss home, and want to have a mini Pakistan or Nigeria.

There's just too much gossiping, cliques, and race or family based politics or grouping.

Growing up,  when people see a revert of a race not usually there, they all stare.

Many people are kind hearted, and welcoming, but even when you've been a Shia for a while, it does get a bit offensive when people assume you're a fresh revert.

---<<>>>

Sunni mosques have a different feel to them. They naturally have far more reverts than we do, their Dawah work is more extensive. Their Islam tends to be more simple too, so it's very easy for people to slot in.

---<<>>>

We need to try to evolve and learn. A lot of families point black will not let their sons or daughters marry outside of their race. A lot of women of said race are pushed to marry someone back home. There is a lot of hidden racism.

Any 'Muslim' who still thinks highly of this harbi kafir needs to reevaluate his iman among many other things.

Do ghusl, retake the shahadah and repent before Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) if you still follow this najis kafir quack.

Never liked him. Don't know why many Muslims are fans of this quack. Hopefully they may see his true face now.

Agreed, but I doubt if the Canadian government will do anything about this. They are among the biggest Zionist supporters themselves.
