On April 13. 2023, a 16 year old boy sent to pick up two of his brothers arrives at the wrong address and an 84 year old white man shot him in the head through a glass door. While on the ground, he was shot again in the right arm (shoulder?). The boy is now out of the hospital and his mother (a nurse) is taking care of him. People are furious that this happened.

Unfortunately this is not the only incidents recently. American society truly has a fundamental guns/mental health problem. This is what happens when you demote a God conscious, moral society... May Allah protect all the children and get rid of this crazy lunatics and racists.

"A 20-year-old woman was shot and killed Saturday after she and three others accidentally turned into the wrong driveway while looking for a friend’s house in rural upstate New York, authorities said."

"An 11-year-old in Mill Creek, Washington was stabbed multiple times at a Dollar Tree after calling a 29-year-old man an "NPC." NPC stands for non-player character, used to describe any character in a video game that isn't controlled by the player. Friendly NPCs typically engage in repetitive, predictable behavior, which has led to the term "NPC" being used as an insult when used to describe another person. While NPC being used as an insult is nothing new, it seems to have become more popular recently."

The man who shot teenager Ralph Yarl turned himself into the police. He was released, after someone paid the bond money.

If it had been the other way around, I guarantee you that teen would not have been released. :(

Apparently in Missouri it is legal to shoot a person twice for knocking on your door. Or at least not serious enough that the assailant - the would-be murderer; he shot the kid twice - needed to be held in police custody.

When I first heard about the shooting and the teenager was in the hospital and alive, I thought the assault charge should have been attempted murder.

10% of $200,000 was paid. The amount was too low. He should have been kept in jail.

The shooter, Andrew Lester, appeared in court yesterday for an arraignment in the case. He was charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action in connection with the shooting of 16-year-old Ralph Yarl. Lester entered a plea of 'not guilty' and court continued the case to June 1.

My prediction; he's going to plead temporary insanity.  During the first few minutes that a person is awake, they are not fully in control of their minds.

This might make sense, except he shot the kid twice.  Plus he went to get his gun and took it with him to answer the door.

------

When I was a child, there was a case in my hometown where an elderly woman shot and killed a young man for walking across the corner of her property. She was charged with and found guilty of discharge of a firearm within the city limits, and she served 20 hours of community service.  The man's family moved out of state soon after.

These things make me think that these are not one off incidents, nor are these the results of modernity and the challenges posed by neoliberal secular- liberalism; rather something is rotten at the very core of a society that considers right to shoot someone a fundamental right over the right to food and shelter, and where shooting people who accidentally turn up at your door is considered 'legal'.

A few years ago in my city, a 5 year old boy was riding his bike around and went into a neighbor's yard. The neighbor ran out and shot him and killed him in front of his cousin and sibling. 5 years old. It's unbelievable... so many people walking around with healthy bodies but sick souls.

Recently I heard on the news a 6 year old child and the parents and a neighbor were all shot or grazed by shrapnel when a basketball rolled into a man's yard in North Carolina. Absolutely ridiculous. Some people are unbelievably crazy and should not be owning guns.

Still nobody knows why the shooter was not arrested that same night of the shooting (April 13) since the police were called out there or at least sometime the next morning (April 14)? Why was he allowed to turn himself in on April 18?

I'm glad I'm not in the US. I don't know why americans are so obsessed with race and make everything a racial issue. It leads to racism and segregation. At the same time this shooting happened, a white girl was shot by a black man, an incident which isn't getting any coverage at all.

The zionists ruling America wants to create racial conflict between the peasant masses, so the american media makes everything about race

I saw the Kansas City women's soccer team wore black arm bands during their game which said YARL, I guess to remind people that they remember him and wish him a speedy recovery. The Major League Soccer men's team Sporting Kansas City and a Tulsa Athletic team wore black Tshirts with white letters before the game, saying UNITED WITH RALPH YARL.

Today (May 22, 2023). an attorney for the shooter (Andrew Lester) requested the judge for a protective order that would seal all case information, saying release would be prejudicial to his client. The attorney said the shooter has been threatened and his home has been defaced (eggs and spray paint), he has been relocated three times since the shooting and has lost 40 pounds. The judge did not make a ruling, but said he will take it into consideration, and allowed Mr. Lester to be absent from court today because of his poor health.

On May 29, shooting victim Ralph Yarl and members of his family were at the annual event in Kansas City, walking with others in the Going the Distance for Brain Injury walk and run, raising money and awareness for victims of brain injury. Family had practiced walking several times with him for 3 miles, but on the event day, with all the publicity and camera people around, they walked 1.5 miles. It was good to see that he is able to walk.

The Judge ruled to partially seal the Andrew Lester case in the shooting of Ralph Yarl. I'm not sure how that will work, but apparently the judge will decide what can be revealed and what will remain sealed.

Lester pleaded not guilty to first-degree assault and armed criminal action. Paul Yarl, Ralph's father, traveled from Indianapolis to attend the brief hearing. He was part of a group all wearing T-shirts saying "Ringing a Doorbell is not a Crime, #JusticeForRalph."

The judge set the date for the preliminary hearing from August 31 to September 1.

Ralph was interviewed on a national morning television show. I did not watch it. A local news website said he was asked if any words were exchanged before he was shot. The boy said he was told:

Don't Come Here Ever Again.

Unfortunately, the backup of court cases (that were postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic) has pushed this trial out to October 2024.

Yes. The teenager wasn't killed, just injured.

Andrew Lester, the 85-year-old man accused of shooting Ralph Yarl, has a pretrial hearing scheduled for Sept. 6.

His attorney Steven Salmon asked that the judge sequester both witnesses and the jury:

Quote

“Given the widespread interest in this case, jurors will undoubtedly be subject to news reports and opinions through all avenues of reporting.”

“There is a pervasive racial component to the trial. While there is neither a racial element to the charged crime nor any supporting facts to believe race was a factor in this matter, this undercurrent has not abated the continued racial theme and animus centered around Defendant.”

The trial is set to begin Oct. 7.

After asking that the judge sequester both the witnesses and the jury, the judge has not ruled on that yet.

However, now the attorney has filed a motion in court requesting a mental evaluation to determine if the shooter (Andrew Lester) is fit to stand trial for shooting teenager Ralph Yarl.

Court documents say Lester has lost more than 50 pounds, has memory problems, and has shown confusion about court dates and basic facts.

The motion argues that these health concerns may impair Lester's ability to understand legal proceedings or assist in his defense.

The motion requests a report from the Department of Mental Health’s psychiatrists or psychologists, including detailed findings and opinions on Lester's mental state, as well as recommendations for his treatment and detention during the legal process.

His "memory problems" might be diagnosed as dementia.

The shooter's attorney asking for a mental evaluation, saying he is not fit to stand trial, could delay the trial from starting on time.

If the shooter is not mentally competent, he might be found not guilty.

The attorney's request for a mental evaluation of the shooter has been approved, the trial was removed from the October 7 docket, and there will be a hearing on October 8. Stalling again.

Canceled? I've never heard of that happening.

Canceled is not the word that a journalist should use about a trial. They could have said postponed. Unbelievable!

I saw a news story four days ago on MSN that said "Andrew Lester trial delayed; judge orders mental exam."

A news reporter said "Lester was supposed to be on trial October 7th but now the day after -- October 8th -- is the check in for his mental exam."
