Teachers returning for the new academic year in the United Arab Emirates were struck by a new bureaucratic demand. In a new code of conduct, one clause in particular jumped out: “refrain . . . from discussing gender identity, homosexuality or any other behaviour deemed unacceptable to UAE society”.

U.S. law firm to split from UAE partner due to his homophobic comments on Twitter

Baker McKenzie said it was working to ensure a “co-operative and swift separation” from its partner [Habib Al Mulla] in the United Arab Emirates after controversy over social media posts in which he described homosexuality as “ugly”.

Mulla, who is one of the country’s most distinguished lawyers but also comments on social issues from his popular Twitter account, sparked controversy in recent weeks over social media posts regarding Emirati identity and homosexuality. His tweets attracted widespread support among many of his compatriots.

LGBT rights in Bahrain

On the face of it, like Jordan, Bahrain appears to be another shining gay star in the Arab world, having legalised homosexuality as early as 1976. It also has an equal age of consent of 21 for both straight and gay couples.

Quick facts about Gay Jordan:

  • Spartacus Gay Travel Index 2018 ranking: #174/197 – surprisingly one of the lowest rankings amongst the Arab countries, but we found Jordan to be one of the most gay friendly Arab countries, which is why we included it in this list.
  • Being gay was legalised: in 1951, but if you're openly gay you may be prosecuted under “public morality” laws.
  • Right to change legal gender: allowed by the Cassation Court (Jordan's highest Court) in 2014. However, in April 2018, Parliament passed laws banning gender reassignment surgery.
  • My.Kali: the Arab world's first LGBTQ online magazine was created in 2007 by handsome Jordanian model and activist, Khalid Abdel-Hadi:

Jordan's draw as a huge tourism attraction in the Middle East has helped bolster its gay credentials. So much so, that LGBTQ tour companies often offer Jordan as an add-on for holidays to Israel. We can understand why, given that such a small country offers unique cultural gems like Petra, Wadi Rum and even a slice of La mer morte.

Tunisia has gained a positive reputation amongst the LGBTQ community of the Arab world, particularly due to the strong activism of organisations like “Association Shams” and “Mawjoudin”, who have been campaigning hard for LGBTQ minorities rights. On 18 May 2015, “Association Shams” even received government recognition as an official organisation.

LGBT rights in Lebanon

Homosexuality is technically not illegal in Lebanon. Article 534 of the 1943 Lebanese Penal Code, introduced during the French Colonial years, outlaws all relations that “contradict the laws of nature”, punishable by up to one year in prison. Although there is no direct reference to homosexuality in the Penal Code, Lebanese judges since the 1940s have sadly interpreted these Colonial laws as applying to homosexuals.

LGBTQ rights in Oman

On the face of it, homosexuality is very illegal in Oman, punishable with a jail sentence of up to 3 years. However, cases rarely get to court unless there is a risk of a public scandal. In 2013, an article in an Omani newspaper called, “The Week”, suggested Oman was more tolerant about LGBTQ people compared to the other Gulf states.

I know in some places in the Middle East homosexuality is technically legal (i.e. Turkey), the thing is the average Turk or Arab still thinks it is disgusting. There is a reason that there is no outcry INSIDE Turkey when  Erdogan watercannons LGBTQ parades - only outside Turkey/Turkiye. Even the secular Turks dislike it intensely.

Heck, just look how angry British Muslims get over the LGBTQ stuff in the school books.

UAE excludes UK universities for nationals on scholarships, includes Israeli universities

'Threat' of Muslim Brotherhood radicalisation

Quote

In June, the UAE higher education ministry published a list of global universities for which scholarships would be approved and qualifications certified, as part of reforms that limited funding to the best-performing institutions. The list included universities in countries including the US, Australia, Israel and France, but not the UK, which is home to many of the world’s top academic institutions. The exclusion of British universities is linked to anxiety in the UAE over what it sees as the risk of Islamist radicalisation on UK campuses, according to three people familiar with the matter.

Recent findings reveal UAE behind Islamophobia in Europe and they're secretly supporting Tommy Robinson

Recent findings reveal UAE behind Islamophobia in Europe and they're secretly supporting Tommy Robinson

Google Overview

"Investigative reports and lawsuits suggest the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been involved in extensive influence campaigns in Europe that have fueled Islamophobia.

These operations reportedly involve funding think tanks, media platforms, and private intelligence firms to promote anti-Islam narratives and link critics to the Muslim Brotherhood, an organization the UAE opposes. The UAE has consistently denied involvement in such campaigns.

Key allegations and reported activities include:

"Abu Dhabi Secrets" Campaign: A series of investigations by European media outlets revealed that the UAE paid a Swiss private intelligence firm, Alp Services, over €5.7 million to compile files on more than a thousand individuals and hundreds of organizations across 18 European countries. The goal of this covert operation was allegedly to smear targets by creating fake online accounts, altering Wikipedia pages, and disseminating fabricated articles linking them to the Muslim Brotherhood.

Funding Far-Right Movements: Reports indicate that the UAE has found allies among Europe's right and far-right political parties, which share similar talking points about Islam. France's far-right National Rally party, led by Marine Le Pen, reportedly received an €8 million loan that passed through an Emirati bank during a period of financial difficulty.

Manipulating Public Opinion: The UAE is accused of commissioning and funding purportedly neutral research and polls to shape European public sentiment against Muslims. A controversial IFOP poll on Muslims in France, published in November 2025, was linked to a network connected to Alp Services, sparking accusations that a foreign power was attempting to polarize French society and create a climate of fear.

Media and Cultural Outlets: Abu Dhabi has reportedly funded various centers and websites, such as the "European Eye on Radicalization," which critics claim are designed to distort the image of Muslim communities in Europe and promote hostile content against "political Islam".

Lobbying Efforts: The UAE has been accused of extensive lobbying in the US and UK to push its narrative, including lobbying the UK government to launch an inquiry into the Muslim Brotherhood, which some argue worsened general attitudes toward Muslims in the West.

The UAE's official stance, as stated in a UN General Assembly event, is to condemn the alarming rise of Islamophobia and promote tolerance. However, investigative journalists and targeted individuals maintain that these covert influence operations use money and media power to push a hard-line security narrative that benefits the far-right and places Muslims under suspicion."

Considering the way president Trump wants to own Greenland, the people of the UAE better watch out. United Arab Emirates will become United States Emirates with an emphasis on USE because he only wants to use you for his own benefit and that of his friends. Islamic values have seriously eroded in the UAE.

Salam. On May 13, 2026 at 12:17 pm CDT, I received a Breaking News Alert from CBS NEWS. Of course I never saw it until May 25. I'm sorry, but I have a lot of junk mail in my inbox. LOL

The BREAKING NEWS ALERT:

Netanyahu made secret visit to UAE to meet with country's president Mohammed bin Zayed

After clicking on the link and reading the breaking news, it was saying that Netanyahu made a secret trip to UAE in March.

In March? Why reveal this now? Of course UAE said it was not a secret, they only have meetings with transparency. Not sure what is going on. Apparently a lot of deception.
