There is no doubt that Rushdie is an ignorant and stupid filth. A waste of oxygen

However, he was an irrelevant hack whose time in the spotlight was long gone. He had faded into obscurity and nobody was paying attention to him.

This stabbing is making him relevant again, and it's really bad optics for shias. Now we'll be put in the same category as the wahabi extremists

BRAVO !! BRAVO !! :NH: Bringing back someone irrelevant and making him rich again! This world, this society is not the same as it was during our Prophets and Imams time. It is a global society with mass consumption of ideas and messages. You think Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) did not know that?

Nope, I meant people started buying it and reviewing it, check the reviews on Amazon, they are not reviewing it, just posting some statement about the incident.

@Ethics @Diaz

Why even bother whether people buy the book or not and leave their reviews not having anything to do with the book. They're just exercising their right to make every single 1.6+ billion Muslims angry for buying Rushdie's book. Any rational person with a sane mind be they Muslim or Non-Muslim that have genuinely read Mr. Rushdie's Satanic Verses can attest to that it is nowhere near as good in writing compare to Mr Rushdie's other books such as Grimace (1975) and Midnight's Children (1981).

There are far better writers than him such as C.W. Lewis, Mary Shelly, and JRR Tolkien. But I've yet to see if such writers like them are just as controversial as Rushdie on such a political scale writing what I consider not only a libelous piece of literature but also a written act of TREASON against Muslims and towards certain nations.

It's not even just the mockery and insult of your Prophet for all you Muslims, there is something that is even worse than this from a socio-political perspective.

Let me explain.

There are parts to Rushdie's Satanic Verses (Part 1 - 9) each with their designated chapters. There is a specific chapter in Part IV "The Imam". Reading the story behind that under the guise of magical realism and fiction is Mr. Rushdie's subtle and cruel depiction of Ayatollah Khomeini which the news media will NEVER cover because it will ruin their credibility.

To elaborate, here is a summary of that particular chapter

Quote

https://www.gradesaver.com/the-satanic-verses/study-guide/summary

Part IV

This section describes two more of Gibreel’s dreams. The first is a short, standalone dream; the second is the beginning of the novel's longer Titlipur subplot. In the first vision, a conservative Imam enlists Gibreel to help him regain control of his homeland, Desh (an analog for Iran). Gibreel does not want to help, but finds himself enslaved. The Imam forces Gibreel to fight the goddess Al-Lat, who has been incarnated as the empress of Desh, Ayesha. Gibreel kills her, and the Imam becomes the absolute ruler of Desh.

The main character Gibreel Farishta is forced against his will to serve this "Imam" who is restoring the control of his homeland Desh (AKA Iran) in order to overthrow the incarnation of the Arab Pagan Goddess Al-Lat (analog of The Shah). Gibreel kills the Arab Pagan Goddess Al-Lat and "The Imam" becomes the absolute ruler of Desh ruling over the country with tyranny and oppression. This is a blatant disrespectful depiction of Ayatollah Khomeini.

If Ayatollah Khomeini did read Rushdie's book then He is ironically justified unfortunately for the enemies of him to issue a Fatwa against Rushdie given this particular story in the book.

Saying such words, be they oral or written, in order to commit acts of Treason against a nation, people, or state is Freedom of Speech that should be defended?

Rushdie's view of Freedom of Speech must be Absolute is a joke of a view that no sane person would ever accept since there are limits for what you can and cannot say or write for the sake of the state and nation you are in.

Here is the original fatwa (translated)

https://irandataportal.syr.edu/fatwa-against-salman-rushdie

Below the translation it says "Modified 1 April 2013. 13:16"

Is the translation to English correct? Wouldn't Ayatullah Khomeini write the date 1989 on his document? Is this the real thing or not?

I mean, this underlines some of the absurdity of the position of those who want to hyperventilate about this.

If this character of “the imam” is a figure in one of the main characters’ dream sequence, and the character is not even called Khomeini, nor is the country in the dream sequence even called Iran, isn’t that your problem for up and concluding it’s literally Khomeini?

I mean, duh, yes, obviously the similarity is there to some extent and intended.

But you can’t literally say “it’s Khomeini” and act like he did. Artists have been playing this sort of game of dancing on the edge since forever, including in the Islamic world. You may not like the portrait, and Khomeini may not have liked the portrait (rulers rarely do enjoy being on the receiving end of this) but Rushdie played by the rules of the game in terms of respecting that minimal level of distanced fictionalization, the artist’s version of “plausible deniability.”

Fact of the matter is Khomeini was being a poor sport and cheated at the accepted rules of this ancient game of artist vs political leader. And in so doing he kinda proved Rushdie’s point. Jailing or killing an artist for a veiled portrait is pretty much textbook how a tyrant would have handled it, no? If he wanted to combat the perception as a tyrant, that’s literally the worst way to do it.

I think this bit about the book and the “Imam” figure really highlights what the fatwa was really about. It wasn’t about “blasphemy.” That’s just a line for the masses. Really it’s about political posturing (“I’m the true leader of all the Muslims look at me make this fatwa”), and getting even for this portrayal.

You do have to take this into consideration that the Book was written and published in September 20th 1988. Just 1 month shy ahead of the Iran-Iraq War that was concluded at August, 1988. I did say "If" when it comes to the Ayatollah reading that book of Rushdie. The reality is that He didn't read his book. It wouldn't be possible enough of a time for him to do so given how he had a few more months to live before he passes away at June 3rd 1989. And given the aftermath of the Iran-Iraq War, I'm pretty sure the state of Iran was not good. Either Khomeini was an incompetent ruler during his final months or a tyrant. Pick your poison.

Fair enough though with the whole rulers/politicians vs artists debacle that has been the sick twisted game since the dawn of time. Most Rulers in power don't like Artists who'd depict them in a satirical critically mocking light. You're at least not in denial that there are serious implications there in Rushdie's story depicting "The Imam" to be very similar to Khomeini's character. This is something that Non-Muslims would conclude on that notion being obvious.

It's not serious in similar fashion of 9 11 attacks  which still randomly some people talk about it which as you have mentioned he has not been in spotlight for many years so therefore people will forget this incident about him nearly a month ahead in similar fashion  which they have forgotten rest of stabbing by Wahabists in Europe especially in Britain & France which nobody mentions any of that attacks.

This stabbing attacks brings him to headlines for a short time  which even in Shiachat , Shia members don't feel any stress about it which surly they don't put Shias  "in the same category as the wahabi extremists" anyway some Shia centers which have some connection with Iran maybe face shutting down by accusing these centers by officials in America & European countries  into having connections with Iran & supporting Hizbullah .

FATWA AGAINST SALMAN RUSHDIE
iran data portal logo
In the name of God,

We are from God and to God we shall return:

I am informing all brave Muslims of the world that the author of  The Satanic Verses , a text written, edited, and published against Islam, the Prophet of Islam, and the Qu’ran, along with all the editors and publishers aware of its contents, are condemned to death. I call on all valiant Muslims wherever they may be in the world to kill them without delay, so that no one will dare insult the sacred beliefs of Muslims henceforth. Whoever is killed in this cause will be a martyr, God Willing. Meanwhile if someone has access to the author of the book but is incapable of carrying out the execution, he should inform the people so that [Rushdie] is punished for his actions.

May peace and blessings of Allah be upon you,

Ruhollah Al-Musavi al-Khomeini

So if someone disagrees with Khomeini, that must mean they're under some kind of "American" influence? Why do you have to impose this binary on others? That if I am in this camp, then I must always oppose the other camp. I'm sorry, but not everyone is obsessed with Khomenei or Iran. We have it in us to call out something for it is. Stop making this about Zionism or being American or listening to mainstream media. Some of us look beyond all of that as well.

I'll state it again it is a big "IF" when it comes to Khomeini reading Rushdie's book. Reality is that he probably didn't based on this news https://www.rsn.org/001/ayatollah-khomeini-never-read-salman-rushdies-book.html

Besides the book was written and published in September 20, 1988. Just one month after the Iran-Iraq War was over at August, 1988. The Ayatollah passed away at June 3rd 1989. 9 months isn't enough for a political leader struggling to uphold the economic hardships of Iran after the Iran-Iraq War conclusion on top of his health to fully read the book and conclude with the Fatwa. Besides aren't Ayatollahs simply human like you and I unlike the Infallible Imams Shias believe in? To err is Human. Maybe Khomeini at his haste delivered the Fatwa without considering to give Rushdie a fair trial defending himself.

Still doesn't change anything of the fact that Rushdie is a treasonous libeler after he sold himself to Western Powers based on such lies within his book.

There's even a newspaper published at Feb 28, 1989 by The Tech being MIT's oldest and largest newspaper company with the title "Satanic Verses is Libel against Islam"

http://tech.mit.edu/V109/N7/turkoz.07o.html

Considering him a "writer" on the same caliber as Mary Shelly, JRR Tolkien, and C.W. Lewis would be an egregious insult.

I am making assumptions and for that if I'm  wrong I apologize in advance respected brother ( who enjoys shaking things up and presenting contrarian views often quite abruptly)

I think as is common among those who grow up in the west and have only seen craven political and religious leaders with either complete lack of morals and ethics,  or have fluid situational ethics....they realize that rarely are any of their leaders worthy of any respect,  including religious leaders.

However,  brother I think you must highly unaware of the person of whom you speak.

Now we had this discussion of Marjae/scholars and communications with Imam e Zamana.

Being the highly rational educated post enlightenment type of individual who is skeptical of such events happened in the twenty first century, you don't belive in such things.

Even though there are hundreds of such meeting and communications with leading scholars documented by people who would never risk their Aakhiraa to falsely attribute statements to Imam e Zamana,  knowing he is alive, present and Allah's Hujjat on Earth.

However be that as it may, I will not convince you, and you're free to choose your beliefs and  I respect those choices.

However,   please my brother don't bring Imam Khomeini down to the level of craven cowardly  western politicos because you have not had the chance to meet such illustrious marajae ( again assumption)  especially the Irafaani types or don't really know anything of their lives and how the lived.

Will now share a couple of stories from his life, please feel free to think that they're completely fictionalized, but allow others to believe.

An old sheikh from Mazandaran used to be negative about the Imam for no apparent reason, and even said to some people: “Don’t go to Imam’s classes.”

Imam used to go to class every day at a quarter past ten. In order that Imam would not be alone, I used to come in a hurry in order to go to class with him.  One day, I saw that the old Sheikh was kissing the outer door of Imam’s house and crying. With surprise I looked at him.  When the Sheikh saw me he said:

الْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ الَّذِي هَدَانَا لِهَـذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لِنَهْتَدِيَ لَوْلا أَنْ هَدَانَا اللّهُ

“All praise is due to Allah who guided us to this, and we would not have found the way had it not been that Allah had guided us.”1
I asked: “What’s happened?”  He said: “Are you going to class?  Is Agha coming to class?”  I said: “Yes.”  He said: “I will also come to the mosque for class.”  At that moment the door opened and Imam came out.  We both set off to the mosque with Imam, but out of embarrassment, the Sheikh came to the mosque from another street.

I was sitting at the door of the mosque and Imam was busy giving a lesson.  The Sheikh came and sat next to me and said: “You know that I used to be negative towards the Imam, but one night I saw in my dream that I was in the presence of Imam Ali (عليه السلام) and a number of people were sitting in a circle in order.  I looked at them one by one and saw that the physiognomy of each one was according to their age.  They said the 12th one was Imam Mahdi (aj); holy light (Nur) was shining from him and he was very beautiful and spiritual and was sitting at the end of the line.

Then scholars from the past came out of the holy grave of Ardabili2 one by one.  When each one of these scholars entered, the 12 people honoured them.  I suddenly saw that Imam Khomeini entered from the door and you also were behind him.  When the 12th person saw Imam, he stood up, then the 11th also stood up, then I saw that all of them stood up.  Thereafter all of them sat but the 12th remained standing and said:

Ruhullah (Spirit of Allah)!”  Imam Khomeini gathered his robe together and said: “Yes.”  Agha said: “Come forward.”  Imam Khomeini came forward quickly.  When he reached Imam Mahdi (aj), I saw that for 15 minutes his ear was near the mouth of Imam Mahdi (aj) and orders were being given and the Imam said: “Yes, I have done that, or inshallah I will do that.”  For exactly 15 minutes Imam spoke quickly into the ear of Imam Khomeini.  When this finished, Imam Khomeini moved slightly away and Imam Mahdi (aj) went to sit. Imam Khomeini waved his hand and the 11 people bowed down and Imam Khomeini walked out backwards (i.e. did not turn his back on them) and did not go to the shrine.  I asked: “Why didn’t Imam Khomeini go to the shrine?”  They said: “Imam Ali (عليه السلام) is sitting here, where should he go?” ”3

Ne’matullah Jazairiye Husayni

Hazrat Baqiyatullah has commanded so:

One day I was at the house of Agha Fadhl Lankarani, one of the teachers of the Islamic Seminary in Qom.  He narrated from one of his friends that:

“We were with the Imam in the holy city of Najaf and the conversation turned to Iran.  I said: “What is your command about removing the Shah from Iran?  One cannot remove a tenant from his house, and you want to want to remove the Shah of the nation?”

Imam sat silent.  I thought maybe he hadn’t heard me.  I repeated my words.  Imam got upset and said: “So-and-so!  What are you saying?  Would Hazrat Baqiyatullah Imam Mahdi (aj) tell me anything wrong?  The Shah must go.”4

Hujjatul Islam Kausari

Now the jaded and cynical will quickly dismiss such events and anecdotes, but please don't deny others the chance to belive Our Imam provides guidance to our leaders.

I will kindly ask that you  at least peruse or skim

https://www.al-islam.org/rays-sun-83-stories-life-imam-khomeini-ra

Now again those being cynical and jaded will dismiss all 83 stories as Lionazation of a political leader,  but I encourage people to know who Imam Khomeini was as a person before offering great proclamations and Judgements .

@Ashvazdanghe  brother love ya, but not every Iran diss or Imam Khomeini diss is because of ZioNazis agency.

Since you live in Iran and are more familiar with how the true spiritual leaders behave , you are quick to defend,  but not everyone has that experience.

Frankly brother that's  complete and utter ( udder? ;) ) male cattle feces,  and with the utmost respect,  you need to get called out on it.

That's pure projection in my medical opinion, and is very common in the West, where I grew up when discussing politicians and religious leaders.

Salam Rushdi's book has been translated into persian/Farsi also  Imam Khomeini (رضي الله عنه) has been aware of old story of " Gharaniq" which has been mentioned in Sunni books which Rushdie just has repeated that old history from his spectrum also his two previous books Midnight's Children (1981) & Shame have been translated to persian/Farsi  which both books have been available in book store of Iran before releasing "Satanic verses" so experts in Iran have been aware of Rushdie's style of writing which Imam Khomeini surely has asked opinion of experts about Rushdie's book which also Imam Khomeini(رضي الله عنه) himself has been a bookworm which even after Iran revolution & during Iraq-Iran war he has not abandoned reading & writing books which it's possible that he has skimmed book without noticing others because he has  used to read books of enemies  likewise  books of MKO terrorists & etc for giving strong respnse to them so therefore " story of not reading book  of Rushdie" is just a void & propaganda of of writer of article which based on her portfolio she has clear enmity with Iran revolution & Hizbullah & spreading hateful & wrong news against Iran & Hizbullah .

43. What Is The Myth Of Gharaniq Or ‘The Satanic Verses’?

A story has been narrated in this regard, which has become popular as the story of Gharaniq. According to this story, the Noble Prophet (S) had been engaged in reciting Surah al-Najm in front of the polytheists. When he had recited this verse:

أَفَرَأَيْتُمُ اللاَّتَ وَ الْعُزَّى وَ مَنَاةَ الثَّالِثَةَ الأُُخْرى‏

“Have you then considered the Lat and the 'Uzza; and Manat, the third, the last?” (53:19-20), the Satan caused him (S) to recite the following two sentences (which were not part of Surah) too:

تِلْكَ الْغَرَانِيقُ الْعُلْيَ وَ إِنَّ شَفاَعَتَهُنَّ لَتُرْجَى.

“They are beautiful, high-ranking birds, and their intercession is anticipated.”1

Hearing this, the polytheists were absolutely thrilled and said: (Muhammad), until today, had never spoken nicely of our Gods. At that moment the Noble Prophet (S) went into prostration and they too prostrated. All the polytheists of the Quraish were ecstatic and then went their ways, but shortly later Jibra’il descended and informed him (S): I had not brought for you those two sentences! These were of the inspirations of the Satan!

The name of the book Ayat Shaitani is a reference to the legend of Gharaniq. According to the mentioned narration, while reading the verses 19 and 20 of Surah Najm, the Prophet ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) recited the verses that spoke of the intercession of the idols, and that night Gabriel descended on the Prophet and warned him that those verses were satanic temptations. [12] Many Shia and Sunni scholars have considered the narration of Gharaniq as a myth.[13]

Satanic Verses has 9 chapters; 1- Gabriel the angel, 2-ماهوند Mahound , 3- Alvon Deounالوون دئوون, 4- Aisha, 5- The city of the visible and the invisible, 6- Return to ignorance, 7- Azrael the angel, 8- Splitting the Arabian sea, 9- The amazing light.[14] In this novel, the Prophet of Islam is referred to as Mahound; A name that means the embodiment of Satan, which was used in the Middle Ages by the opponents of Islam to accuse the Prophet Muhammad ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) of being a false prophet. [15] Also, the Holy Quran is considered to be a mixture of stories, legends and satanic ideas in the book of Satanic Verses. [16] In another part of the satanic verses, the wife of the Prophet ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) has been accused of moral deviance. [17] The author depicts the circumambulation of the Kaaba in the form of a long line that visitors to the brothel are waiting to enter. [18] In this book, some companions of the Prophet ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)), including Bilal and Salman Farsi, have been introduced with expressions such as the black monster, as well as the lowly phenomenon of the human world.[19]

Critical works
The book criticizing the Satanic Verses conspiracy, written by Ataullah Mohajerani, has been the most detailed and best-selling work in criticizing and rejecting the book of Satanic Verses. [49] The mentioned book was published in 1368 [1989] by Etelaat Institute Publications [50] and was reprinted 25 times until 1386 [2007] . [51] and it was translated into English in 1371 [1993]. According to Mohajerani, Salman Rushdie, like four famous orientalists, namely Theodore Noldeke, William Moore, Montgomery Watt and Goldziher, has questioned the authenticity of the Holy Quran by accepting the legend of Gharaniq. In the spring of 1368 [1989] , Nasrollah Pourjavady, a professor of philosophy in Iran, called the novel Satanic Verses boring and disgusting and considered it to contain mockery of angels, blasphemy against divine prophets, especially the Prophet of Islam, his companions and wives.[52] In part of Satanic Verses, he believes that Salman Rushdie used allusions andsarcasms  in this book to humiliate Iran's Islamic Revolution.[53]

In a 40-page booklet written on 26 Ramadan 1409 AH, Mohammad Sadeghi Tehrani called Salman Rushdie a contemporary Satan. [54] Sadeghi Tehrani believes that Salman Rushdie is not only exaggerating about the Prophet of Islam, but also about Gabriel, the companions of the Prophet, and also the wives of the Prophet. and defamed them.[55]

Mustafa Hosseini Tabatabai published a 40-page booklet titled "Salman Rushdie's Humiliation" in the fall of 1368 [1989]  and considered Salman Rushdie's work to be a kind of political conspiracy which is far from the world of knowledge and research. It has a long history with Islam, after the Crusades, after which Christians have created false and ugly legends about the Prophet of Islam to make the face of Islam and Muslim culture ugly.[57]

Some people are looking for the excuse that the book is forbidden, which  Midnight's Children & Shame have the seal of the Ministry of Guidance and once won an award in this Islamic Republic. While these two works have nothing to do with the book of Shaitani's Verses, which in my opinion is  blasphemy and is not a good book because I am a Muslim and I do not allow anyone to disrespect my Prophet and my beliefs, but these two mentioned novels have nothing to do with Satanic Verses. It has been published abroad. Now, in this article, I am writing the names of Salman Rushdie's books. And we offer only two book titles, Midnight's Children and Shame (Sharm شرم in farsi).

43. What Is The Myth Of Gharaniq Or ‘The Satanic Verses’?

Quote

However, these traditions are not to be seen in any of the Shiite sources and, according to some of the Sunni scholars, these are also not to be found in any of the six Sihah of the Sunni. So much so that Muraghi, in his commentary, says: These traditions are undoubtedly a fabrication of the heretics and foreign hands, and have not been found in any of the authentic books. The fundamentals of the religion of Islam reject them and sound intellect testifies to their falsehood and incorrectness…

One of the testimonies which Fakhr Razi presents to prove it to be a fabrication is that in Sahih Bukhari it has been reported from the Noble Prophet (S)

Quote

It is obligatory for all the scholars to disregard them and refrain from wasting their time in explaining and interpreting them, especially in view of the fact that trustworthy narrators have explicitly declared them to be lies and fabrications.7

Quote

We observe this same meaning, although in a different form, in Tafsir Jawahir of Tantawi, wherein he says: These traditions have not been mentioned in any of the Sihah like Muwatta of Malik, Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Jami' Tirmidhi, Sunan Abi Dawud and Sunan Nisa’i8, and it is for this reason that the book, Tafsir al-Wusul Li Jami' al-Usul - a collection of all the interpretive traditions of the six Sihah - does not report these traditions while interpreting the verses of Surah al-Najm. Thus, it is inappropriate to attach importance to them and talk about them, let alone debate about them… These traditions are just manifest lies!9

One of the testimonies which Fakhr Razi presents to prove it to be a fabrication is that in Sahih Bukhari it has been reported from the Noble Prophet (S) that when he recited Surah al-Najm, the Muslims and the polytheists, the men and the jinn, all fell into prostration; and the tradition bears no mention of the story of gharaniq. Furthermore, this tradition (which has been reported in Sahih Bukhari) has been reported by several chains of narrators and not the slightest mention of the story of Gharaniq meets the eye.10

This amazing phenomenon revealed the reality that Salman Rushdie was not acting alone, and the issue is much more than just authoring an anti-Islamic book.

This amazing phenomenon revealed the reality that Salman Rushdie was not acting alone, and the issue is much more than just authoring an anti-Islamic book. It is, in fact, a conspiracy that has been chalked out by the Western colonial powers and the Zionists with the objective of bludgeoning Islam - a conspiracy which they support seriously and in great earnest.

[*] Supporting the Imam's fatwa, guarding the Imam's line

In Farvardin 68, Pasdar Islam magazine writes: "When Hazrat Imam was informed about the contents of this blasphemous book, he trembled with anger and said: By Allah, if I were young and had the strength to move, I would personally go and kill him."

Hassan Sanei, the head of this [The 15 Khordad ] foundation, said about this years later: "I directly offered the reward for the murder of Salman Rushdie to the Imam, and the Imam prayed."

Quote

During a radio interview, Ayatollah Khamenei, the president at the time, welcomed the fatwa of the Imam, may allah bless him and grant him peace, and said: "This is a ruling that every Islamic jurist should give the same ruling if they want to act according to Islamic rulings. This is a definitive fatwa. That is, the person who commits such a mistake is definitely a Mahdur al-Dam, and it is obligatory to remove it from the earth's scene, and if someone makes an effort in this task, that effort is an obligatory thing that he has done, and as he said: if Even if someone is killed, he will be a martyr." Also, in response to the question, what do you have to say to the passionate Muslim youth in all corners of the world to implement the recent decree and fatwa of the Holy Imam, he said: "The zealous and believing youth of all Islam, after the Imam's fatwa and the order they gave, do not need any other message. They are  and all of us feel our duty in front of the Imam's order. The 15 Khordad Foundation also announced that it has set a million dollars as a reward for the assassination of Salman Rushdie. Hojjat-ul-Islamwal-Muslimin Hassan Sanei, the head of this foundation, said about this years later: "I directly offered the reward for the murder of Salman Rushdie to the Imam, and the Imam prayed."

Imam Khamenei (3 days  after issuance of Imam's fatwa against Rushdie by Imam Khomeini(ra))

Americans will kill him themselves; They will not allow such a person to live to expose and disgrace their policies. In any case, this person is destined to die, and that is a death full of fear and hardship, and even now that he is living, he dies and comes back to life ten times every day.

Quote

Three days after the issuance of Imam's fatwa, Ayatollah Khamenei, in his Friday prayer sermons in Tehran, severely criticized the British government's insolence and praised the Imam's ruling, saying: "Surely Muslims, Muslims we do not know, Muslims who may not be introduced to the people until the end. The world and the Muslims of the world and the people of Iran will do their own work; If it is done today, they will do it today, if it is not done, they will do it tomorrow, if it is not done, they will do it in another year, if it is not done, they will do it after some time has passed.

Quote

This unfortunate person who got himself into this trouble has no choice but to die. He sided with one miliard  Muslim people of the world, he sided with the imam's binding decree, this is definitely the revolutionary execution about him. Yes, he may repent, write a book, say he was wrong, apologize to the Muslims of the world, to the Imam of the Ummah, say he made a mistake, the book is not mine, in which case people may forgive him. But in that case, the Americans will kill him themselves; They will not allow such a person to live to expose and disgrace their policies. In any case, this person is destined to die, and that is a death full of fear and hardship, and even now that he is living, he dies and comes back to life ten times every day.

Interrupting his words, the foreign media affiliated with the colonial system announce that "if Salman Rushdie repents, he will be forgiven and his death sentence will be canceled" and widely manipulate this distorted sentence. A day later, the office of the Imam, may Allah's mercy be upon him, fails the defender of Salman Rushdie by issuing a statement about this colonial media operation:

Is milliard and billion the same?
A "milliard" was what we now call a "billion," or a thousand million. What they called a "billion" was a 1 with 12 zeros after it (which we call a "trillion")

I clarified earlier exactly what I’m skeptical of.

A handful of anecdotes of meetings is not a justification for the belief that the marjaiyyah is taking dictation from the Imam.

That’s not supported at all and it’s dangerously wrong, arguably heretical to believe that.

Just as a by the way, you definitely don’t need Enlightenment era thinking to be skeptical of imam sightings. The Imam himself reportedly said to be skeptical about people who said they met him during the ghaybah.

Frankly brother that's  complete and utter ( udder? ;) ) male cattle feces,  and with the utmost respect,  you need to get called out on it.

That's pure projection in my medical opinion, and is very common in the West, where I grew up when discussing politicians and religious leaders.

You can disagree. Don’t worry, I won’t write a fatwa.

You guys are welcome to think my Westernness is making me too cynical of motives.

And I’m welcome to think that Eastern reverence for authority is making some of you have trouble being objective to examine the facts as you would with the decisions of other leaders.

Who knows? Maybe the truth is in the middle.

Immediately after the stabbing of Salman Rushdie, his book Satanic Verses was reported as #11 on the amazon.com list. If the book is #1 right now, it is because of the publicity. Do not buy it or read it. It has been deemed pornographic.

Yes let's not give this vile pornographer another stage to strut around.

If you  really want to read , can read the whole book thru free versions online. Though  I would not recommend it if you hold our prophet and his family in any form of respect, because it will make you disgusted and nauseous.

But since it it a big book, full of poorly written and constructed magical realism, it is more of a weird LSD induced psycho sexual fantasy screed.

I read it at age 18 from the public library,  I remember when we had those everywhere and a library card was prized possession. And of you had more than one at multiple libraries you were envied.

But I digress.

I believe this non religious kid from a broken home and vulnerable misfit , was brow beat or blackmailed into this act  and I don't condone such violence , BUT did he deserve it, absolutely.

Because he acted as Mauwiya , causing massive Fasad and Fitna in the earth. Then strutting on the earth and fulfilling wishes of satanic forces.

If he suffers,  he brought it on himself knowingly and with his eyes fully open.

I think his usefulness was rapidly diminishing and The new tiktok generation had idea who he was.

So just like many false flags , it's almost credible at first glance. However,  with deeper understanding and more facts the Cui Bono ( more Latin which @kadhimloves) will become clear and potemkin village falls apart.

I hope one day he realizes how he was used and brutally thrown away , as are all agents from Jeffrey Epstein,  Sadam, sir Robert Maxwell to Jamal Kashoggi and his fiancé.

https://www.strategic-culture.org/news/2015/01/12/false-flags-charlie-hebdo-and-tsarnaev-trial-cui-bono/

Look more literary figures attacked viciously who always benefits.

Muslims have nothing to legitimately gain from this attack,  so that eleminates them as suspects.

The fatwa is circumstantial evidence and there is no proof that a kid who wasn't even born  at publishing and contrversy height, cared one bit by a washed up writer who doomed his own career in its infancy,  but trying to damage Allah and his Messenger.

why would he really care if a long dead yet beloved  marjae, who he knew nothing about gave a fatwa. why would a  non religious weight lifting roid head care one whit.

I saw a New York newspaper headline (on Google) that said copies of Satanic Verses were burned in Britain. I don't have a subscription to read it. Wondering if that was today or 33 years ago.

I think that was Bradford more than 30 yrs ago.

I never understood book burning,  once you bought the damn book, do you think the author cares if you burn it, use it as toilet paper or chuck it.

Guest Brushstroke

@Ashvazdanghe Thank you for the information when it comes to the Iranian perspective. I am a firm believer in the sense that there are more than 2+ sides to the story and we need both the conqueror's side of the story along with the conquered's side of the story in order to forge a more balanced and nuanced perspective of the facts. If there are more than 2 sides to the story than all the better in the long run for the people to decide that which is the right thing to do in order to bring stability and peace for the people/nation as a whole.

Thank you for elaborating more upon who this Robin Wright is. However despite her obvious bias against the Iranian Revolution she's bringing quite a lot of bold statements. The very first thing you read from that news is that Ayatollah Khomeini's son Ahmed whom I believe she's talking about Khomeini's youngest son Sayyid Ahmad Khomeini who talked to Robin Wright when she was in Tehran, Iran during the early 90s confirming that his father never read Rushdie's book.

Can any Iranian confirm this fact that Robin Wright is bringing against Sayyid Ahmad Khomeini and the fact that she traveled over there from Tehran, Iran? Cause I'm finding that to be quite a bold statement that I need proof of this.

Also thank you as well for further information regarding the whole Satanic Verses that are within certain Hadith Literatures. I am at least somewhat aware of the reality for how much Umayyad and Abbasid propaganda there is when reading such literatures that distorts the actual history for what really happened and what people truly said when it comes to your Prophet's teachings. So I'll just leave that up to the 1.6+ billion Muslims for further scrutiny and discretion whether such Narrations within the Hadith Literatures live up to the exegesis of the Quran. As long as you people practice what you are trying to preach, I will at least have respect for your regardless of whether I agree or disagree with you. Sadly what I see is most Muslims are either ignorant of their own Hadith Literatures and live confused lives at best, and at worst they don't practice what they should be preaching which is "Peace".

And once again thank you for further elaboration of some of Rushdie's books being well received in Iran and the links you bring. While I'm hesitant to use anything that is "Wiki" I'll at least look at the references/sources within the Wiki links to see the facts for myself that you bring.
